Open Forum

There won’t be much going on with the blog this season. Not enough time to do the blog justice. Please feel free to post your thoughts. I will make sure to get things posted.

  1. It's true Huron forced to accept a forfeit from Annapolis varsity. So much for any playoff bonus points there!

I personally would have like to see Huron pick up Bishop Foley.

  2. I played at Milan and coach else where so I know their jv staff from playing and coaching. They are good people so that is just an excuse. as for why turn out is low it is low every where. These kids are expected to start football with a month and a half left of summer. It turns away kids who are "fringe" players. Milan also got varsity soccer so that also hurts the numbers. As far as cutting jv they did what was best for them. Dearborn heights Annapolis just cut varsity football and kept jv because of low numbers and the safety of their kids.

  3. Milan doesn't not have a JV team. The desision was made because we don't have very good numbers on Varsity. We have a small sophmore class that was moved up to Varsity. The freshman team will play some JV teams and some freshman teams. The desision was ment for the good of OUR football program. When GI is making desisions they don't think about how it will effect Milan. We shoulden't have to think about the other teams. That is for their head coaches to figure out. We aren't trying to take the easy way out or screw anybody. This is completely legal, and will in no way get Milan kicked out of the Huron League. Our numbers are down in some part to the resent sucsess of the basketball team. The basketball players were encouradged to play summer league basketball, which would interfer with football. We also lost some kids to fall baseball. To anyone who didn't return because of our JV staff, we don't want you. You obviously didn't care about our football program, or your former teammates. We will be better with out these players. We have an excelent JV staff. I don't think that Bo Schembechler's players liked him very much, when they played for him. They probably thought that he treated them horrible. But as Bo said, "Those who stay will champions."

  4. Most of my coach's weren't so fun to play for, and practice usually sucked, but you go through all of that to get to the games. Did the group of 20 that bailed go to your head coach as a group and ask for a meeting? Did you do anything to try to help yourselves before you walked away?

  5. I was a player at Milan last year. I as well as about 20 other freshman didn't return because the JV coaches treated us horrible.

  6. How is it possible that in a country school that big that they can't put a Frosh, JV, and Varsity team on the field? Is it really that bad in this day and age that football isn't fun anymore?? I just don't get it…..

  7. It is true that Milan dropped jv football and kept freshman. The rumor is this might be what finally gets them kicked out of the league. Flat rock gi and Riverview have all played with a freshman group at jv level when numbers were low. Jv games are a lot harder to fill then freshman.

  8. Airport's defensive front looked real solid, they were in the backfield alot. The running game looked solid as usual, #6 has speed to burn and Donnelly will be the workhorse. I give them a good shot to beat Adrian. EM

  9. Not sure what's up with Airports ground game this year. Passing game is pretty solid again. Secondaries gonna work hard all night to stop the 3 year starter and about 5 solid receivers.

  10. Hows Aiport look for 2012? And whos there top Players? I know of Potcova nd McCormick, and I know they lost alot on both sides of the ball

  11. So very sorry about losing the blog, you did a great job of keeping things posted, up to date and cordial. We will still check in for scores…and who knows, maybe keeping it going…just not at the same pace may suffice for the rest of us. Thanks for all your hard work in the past…GI MOM
