  1. To be clear…I make no mention of this years GI squad to be anything like last year or that the winds are blowing any stronger or weaker.

I still like your thinking 10:39.

HOWEVER, if SMCC limps off the island after a ground attack thrashing and healthy dose from the DUDE's, the weather man may interrupt regularly scheduled programing!!!!

    SITOFN

  2. How them Devils???? 2-0 who would of thunk it? Are the Devils on the path to have a repeat of last years season? Maybe SITOFN is correct and the prevailing winds on GI are stronger than before….

  3. 12:56 poster , SMCC has had the toughest schedule of any team in the league, Crockett, Plymouth, Bedford, nouvel, divine child…… Those are just over the last 6-7 years or so. Do people even do research before they speak or just let the sour grapes in their mouth take over?

  4. 2:06 pm poster….. Most teams that run the spread offense are successful these days- Huh? You cannot be serious? No matter what offense you run you must have talent to make it work. Sone offenses however like the full house T, rely on angle blocking schemes, deception and the attempt to overwhelm the opponent at the point of attack thus requiring less talent. Ask the blog owner if he prefer the school at which he works and roots for WTO run the T or the spread? Interested to see his answer.

    1. Most high schools that run the spread obviously have the talent to do so. Duh?? You're telling me that you don't need much talent to run T formation?? SMCC and Jefferson should still dominate everyone because they have less talent and run the T right??? And no I'm not involved in any school in Huron League.

    2. Doesn't Grosse Ile run the spread??? Must have too much talent to run T formation. Interesting how GI is successful at running the spread.

  5. My opinions on offense are based on seeing games outside of our area. Thats great if you like the same old boring offense that only works in Monroe county because most of the other teams in Monroe county run it. Get out in the real world and see all these other offenses. SMCC leads area in scoring from time to time because they play Monroe school of the blind at the beginning of the season and some newly formed academy at the end, then they move down 2 or 3 divisions and play tiny public schools in the playoffs. Small school, hand picked kids, giant advantage. If the rest of us could do that we would be just as successful.

Im not on here much, but I see same opinions all the time, thought I'd chime in and muddy the waters a bit.
No sour grapes. By the way, Jefferson has a quarterback coming from Alabama next year and Airport has 2 linebackers coming up from Ohio. Must be school of choice I guess. LOL

  6. Jefferson could also put a ton of points on the board with the spread offense. They have the speed to do it. A lot of talent is being wasted by coaches running smashmouth boring offenses that don't work unless you're big and strong.

  7. dont have to ask he is my nephew so i know the answer.but it is more then football or the coach . i coached him in middle school . i agree on school of choice

  8. I should re-phrase on SMCC running the offense to perfection. When they have the team to run it they make it look great. 2 years ago they made that offense look very good. As with Jefferson-with the right personel it could be a dominant offense. Most teams that run spread offense are successful these days. Airport has the personnel to dominate with a spread offense this year. But for some reason they won't change the boring offense.

  9. You will have to ask Mr. And Mrs. Eddings as to why they chose to send their son to SMCC. There are 4 kids I know of at SMCC that do not live in Monroe. Only 1 plays football. School of choice ruins this silly debate that goes on every year by those that whine and make excuses as to why their team loses. My answer always is, get a better coach.

  10. Jefferson IS in need of a coaching change, SMCC is need of an offense change. The only reason SMCC's offense is any better is because the ball blends in with their uniform. LOL. SMCC definitely doesnt run this offense to perfection and they definitely don't dominate with it. Most schools around here need to change their offense, as soon as any of us play somebody outside the league, we get our but kicked.

  11. When Smcc has a potentially weak team coming up with only the local kids(Monroe area and nearby suburbs) they seem to have a kid or 2 appear on the team that is from out of town. Expect a lot of these the next few years, football talent pool isnt what it used to be.

  12. Yes the kid did attend U of D. BUT HE LIVES IN HURON DISTRICT. He has always lived in the district. How fair was it that U of D had him there? He is sitting his Junior year because he is ineligible due to transfer rules. BUT HE LIVES IN HURON DISTRICT!

  13. assuming Levi Eddings comment was from a huron person . huron has a kid that attended UofD jesuit then transfered back .how far is that ??And isnt huron open enrollment ?? That was his school of choice .

  14. Look up the definition of stupidity in the Webster and you'll see "The effect of Nick Saban staying at Michigan State". LOL

  15. I don't understand how everyone says Jefferson needs a coaching change all the time. Giarmo runs the same style offense to perfection and dominates with it. Part of the problem is the kids have to constantly listen to the parents complaining about a coaching change all the time.

  16. Chris, didn't you see my comment about how Nick Saban isn't the best guy in college football. But I do think he is the smartest guy in college football by leaving Michigan State. He's an absolute genius!! LOL

  17. Josh Bernard is a hard-nosed runner. Fun to watch him run the ball! At least the coaches got those play calls correct. He'll have a heck of a year if they keep calling his number.

  18. I had a hard time seeing the game last night. SMCC's visitor's b;eachers are worse than the ones Huron have. I couldn't see anything develop, heck I could barely see over the players.

I should have sat on the other side but just left to watch Sparty and their offense play like a MAC team.

  19. Who is number 21 for Riverview? Kid has blazing speed!! His 2 TD runs combined for probably 130 yards. Then they stopped giving him the ball??????

  20. I stayed for a half and left.

I do remember that game against Jefferson. Fall of 1983, tie game, Rams could have ran or thrown for the score but the ref blew the play dead. Jefferson wins in OT and goes 9-0.

  21. The QB sneak play calls were good calls to keep the clock running?? I hope Airport has other plays to call to keep the clock running instead of QB sneak. They ran QB sneak when it was 1st and 10 about 5 times!! Airport has alot of wasted talent on offense because of play calling.

  22. chris safe guess you attended the Huron SMCC game . you got to see the best LB in the league Levi Eddings 30 for SMCC .He also played TE and had a catch .Clean sweep for SMCC .Like what I saw from Huron KIDS .

  23. Hey Chris,
You saw a "do-over" in 1983, FR at Jefferson. Korody takes a fake up the middle, Collins is deep in route, the whistle blows when Korody is tackled and the ball is still in the QBs hands. I recalled it tonight at the SMCC game … had I known you were there, I would have stopped by and said hi.

    Terry

  24. The refs at the Air View game should be fired. That was the worst Ive ever seen. Fun game to watch. Two good qbs and sharp running backs. A few players left it all on the field. Air misses their coach. PLay calling not stellar.

  25. Alot of season left to be played, but the 2 best teams in the league may have been on the field in Riverview tonight. Airport won a battle of heavyweights as the D made some big 4th quarter stops to pull out the win, including a highlight reel INT by McCormick. EM

  26. Odd play in the SMCC/Huron game. Fake handoff, QB rolls out with the ball. Whistle blows before Huron tackles the QB for a 6 yard loss. Refs thought the FB had the ball. So they decided to do a "Do Over" I have honestly never saw that before.

  27. Worst refs ever is pretty accurate. Especially the last blown call. Offensive pass interference against Riverview in the endzone? Come on. Should have been against Airport if they were itching to throw a flag, but really should have been no call at all and just an incomplete pass. That call decided the game. Let the kids play football.

  28. 28-20 Airport over Riverview… Josh Bernard was a work horse in the backfield, the O-Line was amazing for the Jets. QB sneak was good calls to keep the clock running, and Potcova gains 2-3 yards on most carries. McCormick had an incredible INT to ultimately seal the win.

  29. Trash talk? What are you talking about? We broke down the Michigan/Alabama game. I provided facts about this year and last year. That's all!

With that say, Andrew Maxwell has been absolutely terrible.

  30. Here's a summary of AP/Riverview:

The worst refs ever (must have been Riverview Alumni)

21 for Riverview is extremely fast

Playcalling at Airport is very sketchy. I've never seen so many QB sneaks in one game.

McCormick had an awesome interception to seal the win!
