ha ha ha to all of you! Airport is number one and our boys proved it. The juniors on the varsity team have not lost a huron league game EVER since starting in 7th grade. A great group of young men who know that game of football and who plays as a TEAM.
8:35 PM no hard feelings, but you did intend to liven the place up, right? what better to liven things up than firing back at you? On another note, I'm really not familiar with any cliques on here…
However it was nice to actually have someone take a swipe in my defense…..OK with that post too.
You 2 should shake and call it coombyahh.
In response to your doubt I would say the record DOES MEAN something from this perspective: -GI JV/Varsity combined record just 3 short years ago was 0-14. -GI JV/Varsity combined for whole year was 0-18. -The year before it was 1-17. -2 OH-4 records in a row for Varsity.
It took HUGE committment from the kids, coaches, parents and community to change the unbelievably negative environment for football at GI. I can only imagine what it's like in Lincoln Park!!
We've earned the right to show with data and shout from the mountain tops (or Blogs) that "GI Football is Back"…BIG TIME!
3:46 poster. I am not going to even waste the effort to correct anything you said. Except you obviously a part of the clique that seems to have taken over this blog. Guess you missed the line, NO DISRESPECT. Then you call me a hyprocrite. Typical response from the clique. It was some friendly ribbing and trash talking, which is why alot of people come to the blog. Congrats on whatever point YOUR trying to make. Calling someone a hypocrite, when the point was simply that combining a JV and Varsity record proves nothing. Especially when your not winning the Huron League (ie trash talking) Its about developing a program for kids to be given a chance to play football, and hopefully excel helping their school win at the Varsity level. It wasn't a post to call your pal out. Just some ribbing. whatever floats your boat.
Looks like milan has to compete with lincoln for school of choice kids. Who would have thought that the Railsplitters would have a better program than the Big Reds.
Congrats to Airport. Lets finish this thing off next week at home! I saw the game and I saw 2 teams. First one has poise and talent to make an impact in the playoffs. Second one (2nd half) was just happy to get the W. Bears were a few blocks away from making it a game. Airport pass drops would have got them 2 more scores. Both teams equal in first downs! Secondary got picked apart in the 4th qtr. Thankfully that run defense was on their game. Suppose I should be happier. Barber will fix it. Go Jets.
Riverview and GI is definitely game of the week. IMO it's one of the best rivalries in the HL. Everyone here in Riverview has complete utter hate for Grosse Ile in any given sport (I dont know if I there are the same feelings towards Riverview on the island) but its VERY strong in the view. Pirates are gonna be looking to do everything they possibly can to make sure they come out with a win in rivalry week
Most JV teams have guys on the Freshman team that could start on the JV or at least make them more solid. Most JV teams try not to pull freshman up unless they will start and play a lot. So they lose a lot of depth. This would be like varsity only playing with seniors against a team with seniors and juniors.
Oct 8 12:14 P.M. poster… Just would like to say congratulations that your sophmores lost to a group of freshmen and sophmores and also congrats for getting completely torn apart by their… FRESHMANN… quarterback.
Airport showed up in the first quarter against the bears but laid an egg after that. Airport needs to totally dominate Milan this week and start preparing for playoffs. Don't take anyone for granted!!!
The game of the week will be at Riverview. After watching GI pick us apart bit by bit it will end up being a good game there. Riverview better be able to stop about 5 different players from the island since they all can beat you on offense. Till next week….
12:14 you're calling out SITOFN for mentioning jv but you're bringing up "frosh" teams like they're relevant? You're a hypocrite. GIs JV is 9th and 10th graders…so the freshmen are ON the JV team…if anything, that says something about YOUR JV team…losing to a bunch of freshmen and sophomores…not JUST sophomores. How many more poor attempts to call out GI are we going to have this season? I will agree with any legitimate posts calling out GIs flaws, but most of what I've been seeing are just feeble attempts to talk down to the island.
Now, the point of your post was to liven things up, so do me a favor and correct ANYTHING that I just said.
Ah, my hometown school vs. my alma mater. I think it will be a tough battle. Most likely low scoring. Should be a big crowd. I like rivalry week being the last week of the league season.
SITOFN, Great stat you posted about total record for GI's JV and Varsity. Although it doesn't win you anything. Really, doesn't have much to do with the future either. Just hope I guess.. How come you excluded the Frosh record?? Oh yeah, you don't have a Frosh team. LOL Nuff Said.. HL Champs are in Carleton, NUFF SAID. lol
Just some smack talk to living up the place. No disrespect SITOFN. Respect your passion for your teams.
Good job Airport on clinching the playoffs and a share of the league. A win over Milan gives Airport it's 1st outright championship since 2003. The offense scored on 3 of its first 4 drives and the defense got it's second goose egg of the season. Also congrats to GI and Riverview on your first playoff births since 2004. Should be a good one next Friday, with the winner having a good shot at a home game in the first round. EM
Well, unless Airport decides not to show up next week they should be League Champs! Which Leaves GI and Riverview battling for second place in the best game the league has to offer. Should be a pretty good game. However, I predict that GI will win. Riverview has a nice team, but I think the entire league is down this year so IMHO they appear to be better than what they are.
They've got a nice offense, but their D is suspect. When they get in the playoffs their run defense will be exposed. They might even win a game in the first round. EVERYONE they've played has been able to run on them. They're pass defense has not really been tested, but then again you wouldn't expect it to be in the Huron League.
Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of the View, and they've earned their way. I just don't agree with what the local papers say; that "Stergalas's defense" is what you'd expect it to be.
Good Luck to them though and hopefully I'm all wrong. But I know what I've seen.
Flat Rock kept shooting themselves in the foot. They allowed CC to score on like a 4th and forever, they missed like three tackles on that play. Good shake and bake by the cc runner though. Flat Rock also fumbled the ball which CC returned for a score. And in the beginning of the fourth quarter Flat Rock stopped CC back in CC's territory and preceded to rough he punter which gave cc a first down. I left after that. Flat Rock played hard as they usually do but they had way too many self inflicted wounds.

Very impressive win by GI … o line was great….

Hey,
Chris what would be the playoff projections for Riverview, Airport, and GI? Any clue if either of them are getting eachother first round?
Hey Grammar Police at October 10, 2011 6:10 AM
IT'S GRAMMAR – NOT GRAMMER! Check yourself before you post.
7:50 poster…..
Is this the grammer that we get with school of choice? What were you trying to say?
dont worry riverview we hate you more.
#fantasyisalnd
matt bacon kick 4 touchbacks in the riverview game one good kicker and one through the field goal.
12:35 poster the feeling is mutual. It should be a very hyped game.

YELLOW LAMBORGHINI???? Anyone see it at Bears game or what?

Huron league blog,
Do you think week 8 Flat Rock/Huron wil be a thriller like we saw in 2008 and befor prior to the FR blowout in 2009 and Huron blowout in 2010?

Lets go!!!!!

Will all of you PLEASE STOP this 5-4 possible/potential/just maybe crap for GI. IT AIN'T GONNA HAPPEN!!!!! Now lets talk about 7-1 after this week.
BTW all you HL blog chops…GI JV and Varsity are a combined 13-1, what's your count?…..Nuff said.
#20 from Huron is a kid I would take on my team…110% effort and brought it every play.
Nelly was sick tonight…must like playing for TV. White and Kish good again too…O line was better.
D was a little pourous again but did shore it up in the 2nd. Need to be better on the edges. Good efforts again from Groff, Alongi, Judd and Berardi.
Congrats GI/AIR/VIEW….playoff bound.
SITOFN
Great Game Riverview
No surprises this week.. Except for the goose egg posted by the Bears… (darn it) Congrats to Airport on locking a spot in the playoffs.
