I didn’t pick any players all league for both sides of the ball. I’m sure there are plenty other players deserving but these are my personal picks. The coaches picks will come out Tuesday night or Wednesday morning.
Weclowski actually had 28 tackles and a pick against cc chris, I have never seen one player put a team on his back like weclowski did against cc that game. It's a shame they lossed.
WECLOWSKI IS THE BEST DEFENSIVE PLAYER TO EVER GO THROUGH THAT CONFERENCE!! END OF STORY
The stat #'s game in HS football is laughable. In my prep days there was a linebacker in a local small Catholic school that literally had a tackle on EVERY play (according to the offensive play's against). He had over a 1/3 more than the next closet guy by years end.
If you added up the tackles per game they gave 3 guys credit on EVERY play. They had 4 guys in the top ten in the city!! (Not a slam on Catholics, just a point about HS stats)
So, for the most part spotters in HS can range from good to "HOMER SIMPSON".
To Chris's point, you gotta start somewhere and Maxpreps is as good as any….just depends on who is spotting and taking stats.
Chris…Weclowski was that good, I saw him blow-up GI's "short yardage" back that same year, what a GREAT HIT it was….even I jumped up and celebrated that hit, against my beloved Devils.
SITOFN
Weclowski's numbers we're legit that season. I was at 4 or 5 of the Huron games. He was everywhere that season. They ran a 4-3 and the scheme kept blockers off off him in every game I saw. Just ask SMCC, he has 26 tackles that night. His name seemed like it was called every play. He had one of the best high school hits I have ever seen on one of the Falcon RB's.
Someone said that Airport May become a state contender someday if they can establish a passing attack.
Even CC had a passing game last year at Ford Field.
Its needed to get to that level of play.

Do you have any clue about HS football stats or the kids that go D1 –> NFL? There are MANY kids that avg 10-12 tackles and have ZERO chance to ever play small college football. And most 1000yd runners will never run the ball again in college. These are HIGH SCHOOL STATS not NCAA or NFL stats they are not even comparable. A fast kid with zero skill can bust out for a ton of yards or a tiny kid with a HUGE heart can get a TON of tackles in HS football. So please stop talking like you have a clue. College's recruit by the intangibles and create players not by statistics.
A lot of HS players have very impressive numbers but most are a bit high because they are called in by coaches not regulated people. But other then Weclowski's tackle numbers a few years ago the Huron League stats seem to be fairly accurate to the games I've seen.
All we can do is go by the stats sunmitted by the coaches to the websites of maxpreps and monroe news.
I read some of these stats and wonder why half the league players are not going directly to the NFL. With these stats why are some of these teams not ranked top 10 in Michigan?
The stats are as the league is this year. "A FACADE"
You people kill me.
I concur with the picks Chris….they all were strapped tight.
Couple of other mentions:
-View 22 could have been on the O list….that kid brought it every play, even as a Soph.
-GI "team D"….while they were not great and still coughed-up a big play or two too many, they were certainly very good and VASTLY improved over the last few seasons.
-GI 4 (Nelly) deserves a mention too…his speed and moves were a perfect compliment to Kish. I'll bet most players and coaches in the HL would agree they feared the ball in his hands just as much as Kish….such a dillema for coach B.
Congrats to all on the list….you all provided some great hits, runs, moves, passes, catches, desire and great entertainment on Friday Nights….THANKS!
SITOFN
Whoever said Airport is a state contender is wrong. They're definitely a very good team this year but they don't compare to the division 3 powerhouses like EGR, Grand Rapids Christian, OLSM, or Thurston.
Sterg will get some votes for sure but that 35-7 loss will most likely be the difference.

Every teams official stats are available at maxpreps.com and/or monroenews.com
Watch the kid on kickoffs too, French just aims for the wall and everyone follows. You can't coach determination like that. DPOY
Stergalas deserves COY. he turned a completely broken program from 1-8 to 8-1 in 3 years.
I love all the false #s being thrown around after league play is done some of these players haven't been in a discussion all year and now they have 100 tackles 1200 yards rushing 10 interceptions played both ways and all special teams and went and got water for the team on time outs..
Where have they been all year????
Everyone knows who showed up every Friday and who made the biggest impact on the league
Take your blown up stats and try again people
I like the Barber pick.
Remember all the haters when Red left. Airport was all done… back to its loosing ways. I think its was a move in the right direction for Airport. Look whats happened: French decides to play this year and is also an offensive threat. Lewis, Jones,Shumake had All League seasons. Junior QB Potcova ran the offense and was well coached. More of a passing threat and they're a serious State contender. Strong team that even Red would envy.
I basically decided to go with a QB, 3 RB, 5 OL and 2 ends which I labeled WR. I didn't differentiate between End TE or WR.
Chris, i am curious as why there was not an all league tight end selection. could lead to some interesting debate
Seventy-seven tackles on the best defensive team in the league that also won the league sounds DPOY to me.
The Riverview kid would get honorable mention if Chris did that I am sure.
-bn
If French had 77 tackles that is not a defense Player of the year.
The Flat Rock Coach post was from an older thread, under friday night scores.
People have nothing to say now
Most people get their stats from maxpreps or monroenews.com. There are obviously many deserving players for all league. Why don't we drop it. The coaches all league comes out soon. They voted last night. I'm not sure when they will be released. Maybe today, maybe after the playoff games.
Where you people pulling stats from? Obviously you can't go by #s alone.
I'm sure that Riverview, Airport, and Grose Isle pulled starters out throughout the season, when games were in control. Just like any other team would.Just seems with their records it would be more often.
I would say that all of the top teams players stats are really low in the 3rd and 4th quarter, compared to the lower teams when #1 offense and defense is still playing but its against #2 and 3 O & D
Smith from Riverview also missed 1 game and half of another. He should be all league along with Kish from Grosse Ile in the backfield
Riverview's last game had not yet been entered into maxpreps. Which is were I am sure you got your stats. He had 170 yards that game and 2 td's giving him 1060 on the year.
Okay I checked SR lb stats French had 77 tackles and the kid from Milan had 91 tackles . both played in 9 games. So what was your point ?
Smith from Riverview did not have 1000 yards. Here are the stats that I found…..
Schumake 1083 yards on 174 carries 10 td 6.22 yards per carry
Brewer 1037 yards on 165 carries
10 td 6.29 yards per carry
Kish 1007 yards on 106 carries
13 td 9.5 yards per carry (also 2 passing td – led league in overall scoring with 15 td)
Smith 911 yards on 143 carries
12 td 6.37 yards per carry.
Justin Jones from Airport?
All three RB picks went over 1000 yards as well.
Tough leaving off a 1000 yard rusher at Riverview. I think he is a Sophomore too, #22 Smith, but that shouldn't matter.
Check the stats for the senior LB's that were picked by Chris.
Nice picks Chris, can't argue with them. White, French and Barber are all deserving. EM
what about LB EDDINGS for SMCC he had 86 tackles in eight games and with 3 INTS? Also started at TE
What about Coffee from Huron?
Picks look pretty solid. I think your right on with French and White at the top for O & D players of the year.
Both players made major impacts on the other teams game plans for that week, and stood out every Friday
Good argument for coach of the year Barber may get it, I'm thinking that's gonna be the tightest race
Great job to all the teams this year had some very great games
Next season should bring some big gamed also
Good luck on playoffs
They have a solid receiving corp but nobody that stands out like Martinson or Lewis.
does GI have any good recievers? or is it just white that makes them productive
9:32 poster:
You seem like your responding to a post. But I don't see anyone on here who said anything about replacing the FR coach!?!
I do appreciate your passion though.
loved the RB from View as well.. he ran tough.

Obviously, White was my pick for QB and player of the year but Gibbons was one that I considered for All League QB. I'm sure he will get some recognition from the coaches.
Yes, Stergalas for COY. After 7 losing seasons he has made quite a difference. Especially if you consider where everyone thought the View would end up. Clearly the surprise of the league. Well maybe SMCC, but we want to stay on a positive, they'll be back.
Agree with Lorain and Salser. If you gonna play in the Huron league you'd better be able to play D up the gut.
One thought, Riverview's passing game is underrated. It may be the difference in playoff success. Just thought I'd throw that out there.
why would you change the coach in flat rock?? no one is stupid enough to come into a school where they are the smallest public league school…he's dedicated and works his butt off..you could have mark dantonio at flat rock and he wouldn't win..you get what you get..who do you "Flat Rock" supporters want?? What and who?? I just don't get it?? Name me 1 GOOD, proven coach that would take over that program..i just dont see it..u should be blessed that you have pernicki
Good picks. A few comments…
I agree with the above poster Riverview's NG was good.
the best corner I saw this year was #9 from GI.
French deserves DPOY
White will win OPOY
Stergalis should win COY… My reasoning, if Redmond was still at Airport he would not win it this year.
The 2011 Schultzy Awards go to………..you should have a name for your picks..lets open the forum to some ideas..
40 is Adkins, and 27 is French…
Also, the kicker I on Airport is Dylan Raisenan (Junior)… Kellen Sorenson.
Great picks though. Think your going to be pretty darn close.
Really nice picks Chris. You really did your homework, especially with David Lorain. He's a great nose guard for the view who probably didn't stand out to those who don't watch him on a weekly basis. Lorain along with quarterback Gibbons play with the most intensity I have seen out of Riverview football players in a long time. I'm sure it could explain why the Bucs are back in the playoffs for the first time since 04'.
There we go Wade! What number is Curtis French from Airport? I'm guessing either 40 or 27.
