Here are some players to watch from around the Huron League this season.

Tory Martinson (Milan)

Rob White (Grosse Ile)

Alex McLaughlin (SMCC)

Brandon Lewis (Airport)

Alex Kish (Grosse Ile)

Jake Anson (Airport)

Cole Adkins (Airport)

Michael Blosser (Flat Rock)

Kyle Fudoli (Jefferson)

Obviously there are a lot of others out there to watch. So have at it.

  1. Okay, Knoch will not win, and either will Blosser. They are both good backs. But realisticly this is what i see from them this year at BEST

    Knoch: 90 carries, 550 yards, 7 tds

    Blosser: 140 carries: 1000 yards, 10tds

    AT BEST

  2. Listen for the guy up there saying that Knoch can win Offensive player of the year has to be crazy. The only thing he is useful for is blocking he is not fast enough and everyone is always saying how strong he is he is 5 feet tall I guarentee he is not as strong as people say. The kid blew his chance of ever accomplishing anything in football when he abandoned his Airport jets in 8th grade. Flat Rock will be awful just like they have been the past two decades if he is really suppose to be one of their best players.. Crazy people.

  3. Knoch is not explosive enough to win offensive player of the year? JV and Varsity the kid has led the team in Touchdowns Freshman year (Jv) still had most TDs and yards on the team I mean come on the kid had multiple 5 touchdown games he had a minor knee injury to set back his speed but watching this kid up close I know this tremedous athlete has plenty of talent to win it just as much as Mike Blosser.

  4. Did I? I haven't really thought about it too much. Track season not over just yet.

I suppose this season is as open as any in recent memory.

SMCC still the team to beat. Great program, great coach, and great tradition.

Airport probably will be solid and will be more balanced this season.

GI will be great on offense but will probably look to run the ball with the best player in the league to control the clock.

Milan will go through coaching pains. Coaches don't get out when the cupboard is full.

Riverview will play defense as usual but is probably a few years away.

Nothing changes at Jefferson. Run the ball, play defense and hope for the best.

Huron lost a ton but don't look for them to return to the basement. Too many good things going on over there.

It will be interesting to see how the young kids have matured at Flat Rock. Weight program can only help. Coach P should be up and around in time for the season.

The biggest unknown at this point of the season is where will SMCC play their home games?

  5. Blosser is a canidate for me, but like you all said. He is not a senior. He will have the numbers I think, but theres no way. I think his senior year its pretty possible. As for Knoch, no. He is a tank but he is not as quick or explosive. Very good defensive player tho.

You have got to be kidding me. I can pick several from Airport and probably Kish from GI that will have more yards than Blosser. Blosser is a great player but you still need more from a team (which FR does not have yet) to get a player like Blosser to be OPY.

  7. Blosser is a GREAT athlete but will NOT win OPTY because he is not a senior. This usually always goes to a senior and there are just too many talented seniors from Airport, CC, Huron and GI – oh, Jefferson, FR, Riverview fans don't start crying because you weren't mentioned above – I just don't know of anyone off the top of my head by name – time for all the upcoming seniors to step it up cause this league is DOWN.

  8. Blosser will clearly win offensive player of the year. He is a great run with great lead blockers ahead of him.

  9. People have to be crazy to actually believe the Rams will be as bad as they were a season ago. They had no talented upper class man. Blosser, Chickeral, and Knoch were the 3 most talented and most exciting youngsters I have ever been able to watch, reguardless of their record. Knoch and Blosser score the TD's and Chickeral beams the ball in there to Mink when they throw it. I see these three Talented young men finally leading the city of Flat Rock to a place they have not been since my high school days. They suffered the 0-9 days and I am sure they have prepared for this season and are enjoying the thought of everyone thinking that they will roll over the rams next season. My season prediction will be 6-3 for the Rams. For the players to watch issue is between the Rams with Michael Blosser and Colin Knoch for offensive player of the year.

  10. By your grammar nacho, it looks as if you might be in school still. Put away the computer and hit the weights. Good luck to you and whoever you play for.

  11. Wow….CC fans getting really defensive! Some clown even wants to throw his money away. I will tell you this. I KNOW a person very close to the CC football program……and he is worried! Another fact…..you can't get it done, and that's a fact. Save your daddy's money. Don't bet on things you have no control over. CC will fall to many teams that they beat last year. GI will have a powerful offense that will put lots of points up. CC may fall victim to them also if the Red Devils defense shows up. Ouch….that would hurt. No, CC will not dominate, and the fans must get used to it. Falcon fans like to have the last word (it's there nature) so bring it!

  12. Looking forward to HL football and its only May!
CC winning the league is possible but unlikely. Lost too much good talent – but coaching is always there.
Airport has the most potential. Great JV group steps in and offense won't be one dimensional. QB Potcova is now 215# and should be running an option.

  13. What are all these people gonna say when they get POUNDED again by SMCC? What will they then think to themselves?

  14. SMCC may lose to all those teams but I am pretty sure you wouldnt put a single dollar down on that. I will even give you 5-1 odds. Is it a wager?

I am a CC fan and am looking forward to the season. This season is up for grabs but Airport and CC look to be the top 2 teams for sure. Could Milan or another team slide in there, well I guess so but doubtful.

I'm not sure why everyone is saying CC will get beat by everyone. For everyone's information they are still loaded with great ball players. Yes they did lose a lot of great seniors but there are many good seniors to be and juniors to be coming up. I wouldnt go and get your hopes up just yet. Stay humble and let things happen. 50-6 since 2002 for a reason and thats not bloating… that is a fact.

  15. CC is in trouble. 18 seniors gone, no good recruits signed up as of yet, and Navarre Field is up for sale! Now what? Home games played in the Kmart parking lot this year? Well, at least there is an A & W next door. They have good onion rings. Jefferson, Milan, GI and Airport will ALL beat CC this year. Sorry Falcon fans…..you KNOW it's possible.

  16. This upcoming seniors and juniors have played Brother Rice, Fordson, Allen Park, Dearborn, Pioneer, Jesuit and DeLasalle.

Because of this they wont be shocked by the size and speed difference of Plymouth.

Will they pull off the upset.. most likely not but they wont be scared.

  17. Will huron's defense b any good this year? I know it was only jv,but blosser and knoch(as freshmen) ran for about 700 yards and 8 tds 2 years ago….have the huron kids gotten better?

  18. Monroe county…ur right bout my rams, hope the kids are in great shape considering the core players will have to play both sides of the ball..we also need another runner to emerge on the other wing that can take pressure off blosser and knoch…and hope chickeral can connect with mink

  19. D- zone… I just said that a good D1 school vs a good D6 school will most likely result in a 45-7 drubbing. Kudo's to CC for having the guts to play Plymouth. Monroe High cant say the same.

  20. Looks like Milan broke a 1000 with 1016 students…crazy to think that when I graduated 14 years ago I don't know if we had 500.

  21. Look. Airport may have depth. But freakin huron has had depth since 2002. So depth has nothing to do with anythning.

  22. Everyone thinks Airpors going to have another down year, but there going to have more depth then ever. Plus four starting sophmores that already have a year under their belts. They didnt have good senior leadership last year that cost them. now the 2013 class who has never lost a huron league game ever are stepping up to the plate.

  23. Colin Knoch will be a player this year. But he relies on Blosser just as much as Blosser relies on him. If Blosser keeps running outside. It will open up the trap game. If Knoch keeps throwing people when Blosser is running. Then Flat Rock will have success. The only problem is will Flat Rock have a defense. That will be there weakness this year. I dont know yet about the rams.

  24. Let's not forget the leading scorer from last yrs. FR team, knoch, along with an athletic qb chickeral…there is hope of improvement this year.

  25. Agreed Potcova will be a big part for Airport this year with Jodeci gone. I see a lot more passing. Also any word on the QB from Milan is he playing this year after the injury?

  26. Airports team is going to be solid they will win the league. Potcova is good but has many injuries and this year they will have young blood scottie mccormick coming up to compete. On the other hand the defense will be the strong suite in the jets 2012 team

  27. Looking at some of the enrollments for this upcoming season. It is very possible that CC moves up to D5 and Milan moves to D2. That is ofcourse if they both make the playoffs. MOST of the state dropped considerably this year but those schools rose. Just something to keep an eye on.

  28. Is anyone else surprised other than me that Milan is only winning at a .600 clip in the Huron league since 2000. And has only 3 shared titles since joining the league 12 seasons ago.

  29. jordan frayer will be big at linebacker for the chiefs. it will be hard to get past such a quick and powerful linebacker.

  30. I believe that GI will have the best scoring offense. The problem will be their defense. If they cant stop anyone then Rob White is just going to have to do it himself. With Blosser, I watched a couple games last year. If he gets a little faster then he will be golden this year for a toss up FR team. As goes for others…. I think Brandon Potcova from airport can do a great job this year as long as he steps up in the pocket and gets rid of the ball.

  31. The Kish – White Combo from GI will lead the scoring in the league this year. After that it is a toss up. Blosser from FR will shine even though the team will struggle. The rest are a step behind the names listed above….

  32. Huron league standing last 10 seasons:

    SMCC 57-13
    Airport 56-14
    Jefferson 45-25
    Milan 42-28
    Riverview 32-38
    Flat Rock 18-52
    Huron 9-61

  33. RE: "The O line, backfield, and QB are all gone this year. What is CC getting excited about? You can't predict a seasons outcome based on last years JV team. Got any good CYO players coming up?"

SMCC is 50-6 since the 2002 season vs the Huron league. Why wouldnt you think they will be good? To think otherwise is just hoping.
