It’s Official

By an overwhelming majority the readers of the blog have tabbed the SMCC Falcons as the team to beat in the Huron League this year.

That seems like a logical pick as the Falcons return a host of talented players from last year’s league champs and Division VI runner up.

  1. Looks like Airport is going to play on friday's, so we can get the Airhead stuff outta here.

I'm sure it is a tough standard, either way I look forward to stepping onto the island to watch the game. Assuming GI's defense steps up, we might actually have a game worth watching.

You get to play GI at OUR HOUSE this year…..on FRIDAY NIGHT as it should be.

I'm really tired of tradition getting trampled by litigious/minority/liberal/bigot
BS. Typical political posturing of our country now-a-days.

All the threads on this subject in this Blog have a MAJORITY of peoples comments in favor of "FRIDAY NIGHT, UNDER THE LIGHTS"….go look.

Get some lights…no excuses!! It's Airhead until it's done.

BTW…thanks for your vote of perfection on GI, it's a tough standard to live up to.

  3. To: CCSBC…at least they will be watchin from Ford Feild…you'll be at home still whinning….Good Luck to whom ever makes it…and CC was in the dance all the way until the end.Dont kid yourself

  4. When they total up all the districts that a private school pulls from, count up all the kids in those districts, arrive at some ridiculous huge number (like 6,000 for SMCC) and claim that number to be the number of kids the local private school “pulls from” or “picks their players from” or even “draws from”.
All this while the total number of kids in the boundaries of any one of the single public schools is maybe 1,000. Then they compare the 6k to the 1k and cry foul.
Let’s take the 6,000 through an exercise.
Let’s say you get the 6,000 together in an auditorium. Let’s see how many of them really make up the pool that the local Private school pulls from.
    1) Are you Catholic? If not, are you OK with a school environment that prioritizes Catholic teachings and has students attend mass regularly?
    If no, leave.
    2) Tuition is $9,000.00 per kid, per year. That going to be a problem?
    If so, leave.
    3) You need to pay for or provide your own transportation. That going to be a problem?
    If so, leave.
    4) No jeans, tee-shirts, facial hair, piercings, or haircuts that we don’t approve of at our sole discretion. That going to be a problem?
    If so, leave.
    5) You are going to have to pass our admissions exam. Basically the top 275 scorers get admitted. That going to be a problem?
Some will be asked to leave.
    6) We don’t offer trade classes or non-College Prep courses. That going to be a problem?
    If so, leave.
How many are left? No where near close to the original outrageous number. Nowhere even close.
In fact, if it were still 6k, then there would be private schools being built all over the area, and SMCC would expand.
But it's supply and demand. SMCC's supply equals the demand but it isnt 6k.

  5. The huron League has addopted the everyone feel good about themselves policy. Everyone will get a trophy just for participating as well as lemon drink and orange slices to be passed out to all participants.

  6. Word is Canton has gotten slightly too good for the KLAA and they are kicking them out too. This is getting rediculous!

  7. I hope "Airhead" plays GI on a Sat, and you have to get up and watch them get stomped at around 1pm.

    Garbage huh?

The lights were ruled unsafe, do you think they had a CHOICE as to if they should take them down? What if they fell and took someones life? I think a few games on a SAT is a damn good trade to prevent something like that from happening.

Maybe the people from the Island dont understand simple thought processes such as safety, not everything is layed out for everyone. Your perfect world doesn't go past the free bridge bud.

Lets all act our age (22 here) and talk like adults. We dont need the childish "Airhead" comments.

  8. Hey don't group all haters in with CCSBC. Ive been hating CC since I was in 7th grade and have always done it both logically and with all due dilligent fact checking. And I would not say the HL would be a doormat without them at least in the past the HL has had some great teams from schools other than CC.

  9. Maybe the Huron League should do like a league did up near Traverse City did they kicked Travese City St Fancis out of the league for football only as they were tired of them winning the league cahampionhip every year. I read a article in the Traverse City paaper last week while on vacation there. Apprently ST Fancis has won the last 7 or 8 football league championship and the othere teams were tired of it and threw them out of the league. St Franscis was like SMCC the only Catholic school in a public school league and they could draw from northwest Michigan for players just like SMCC can from southeast mich.

  10. what does smcc have to do to earn peoples respect? they go undefeated in the league, run the table in playoffs until the close semifinal game, and give the best team in the state a run for their money in the most exciting game at ford field this year. without smcc the huron league would have fell apart years ago.

  11. SMCC deserves pre-season accolades for sure….BUT there is this wonderful idea of competition and the enabler called a "GAME"!

SO… you can either put up or shut up on Friday nights (except for Airhead with the Saturday garbage) and prove that you have the metal to even get to a dance.

I for one love having SMCC in our league and will say here an now that the HL would be doormat without them.

    Excellence breeds Excellence.

  12. That could be the stupidest post I've ever read. They lost a hard fought game to one of the best teams in the state led by one of the best players in the state.

  13. What is the point of going to the dance and not dancing? Guess they're going to get all dressed up again this year, and just sit in the corner and watch others dance. Just like last year, and the year before…….
