  1. SMCC did take a pounding from Crockett. Their defense was very poor and not very aggressive. Anyone at the game would have seen that the players were arguing with themselves and blew assignments on the field (not following the coaches instructions). Coaches don't coach fumbles, coaches don't coach how NOT to tackle. Yes it should have been a closer game, but Crockett had athletes in all the right places and match-ups that favored them no matter what sidelined player was on the field. Fact is teams can not hang their hat on past accomplishments. This is not the same team as last year and many returners have not stepped up. The good news is, its early and players have an opportunity to fix what is broken and find an attitude that displays great play on the field. The Huron league is physical and there are several good teams, eventually a couple will separate themselves from the pack. Love or hate a team, it all comes to light on the field where games are one or loss. Win or lose there will always be fans that criticize, fans that are true, and fans from other teams that rip on their foes. Best of all there are parents that know everything yet know nothing at all. Either support your team or down your team, but don't be two faced and hypocritical. Your sons aspire to be better than that, so set an example they can be proud of.

  2. Jefferson better do more than beat a bad team by 7 points before they talk. Not a CC fan, just sick of all the talk for a team that has done almost nothing for a decade.

  3. rob white will get 1000 3 straight years faster because he is a year older, as a soph last year he threww for a 1000 on a team that had the best RB in the league dex teen

  4. Cant wait too here all the CC B.S on here when the bears walk into monroe and shove the ball down there throat. The bears ran the ball tough and with a meaning. They faced bigger kids both ways then they will prob see all year. Look for that ground and pound jefferson football come friday. Think those cocky falcons have another thing coming for them. Go Bears!!!

  5. I'm NOT a CC fan and have no problem saying I'd like to rip their loss. BUT, they lost to a VERY good team that I (and many others) figured they would lose to even if they were as good as people (Chris) seem to think they are. The loss is what it is so there is really no need to tear into them about how they "stink" yet. One loss to open the year against a very good team does not make a crappy team. BUT, the excuses the CC fans keep throwing are pretty funny. They are not very good at being losers they should just go back to threatening the rest of the Huron league like they've been doing all summer. At least you still have last years success in the league to back your arguments. (For at least one more week)

  6. Just pay attention to how Crockett does this year, and you will cease your bull crap about SMCC. They are a very good team and last night outplayed us. Wow, it was quite a trip through Deetroit after the game. The field is very nice though, just as Chris said.

  7. Congrats to ALL Huron League victors last night. You other guys need to keep your head up, the season just started! Get em' next week! BTW….CC will be 0-2 next Friday, and 0-3 the week after that. Just watch and see!

  8. Here we go again. CC didn't win because there STAR player wasn't in. Are you saying CC is a one man show? Sure sounds like it. Find another excuse for the whoopin you took.

  9. potcova…. first player to pass for over 1,000 yrds. 3 years in a row, callin it. he only had 7 comp. and still managed 167 yards. bolster had 17 comp. and only about 30 more yards. now barber knows he has a solid qb, and passing will be a bigger part for the jets… but defense still lacking….

  10. SMCC vs Crockett
One merely needs to look at the coaches response today in the paper. It says it all, and validates several of the postings on this site.Lets see if the holes are shored up next week on D. Crockett is a good team, however SMCC should not have lost like they did if they are going to be the contenders that is predicted.

  11. the people earlier we telling us about the game and how cc looked…not many people are just gonna go to cc's game because they want to, those are cc's fans talking. and correct me if im wrong but i havent seen a crocket fan on here yet so dont become defensive saying youd like to see any other HL team beat them when its your fans saying they were bad.

a direct quote from the MEN:

Coach Jack Giarmo said the Falcons played "terrible. Basically, our heads are too big. We had no discipline. We fumbled twice inside our 30 and once inside our 40 and they scored all three times. We're not a very good football team right now."

  12. I predicted after the Carlson scrimmage anyone that has a good Qb or a great passing attack can take it to CC. Carlson tore them up through the air.

  13. I don't see the SMCC team as being over-confident at all. Coach has been ripping them up all summer long. They really have to build some confidence, is what I believe. I hope they pull it together and rock the rest of the season. They have a great, really amazing group of senior men, who get along like a real team. Hopefully they'll put this loss behind them and have a determined week of practice. Go Falcons! Kick some Bear butt next week!

  14. I appreciate the later comments about SMCC's game at Crockett. The earlier ones seem more spiteful than insightful. I know their coaches were really mad about the game. From a different perspective, I'm wondering if the coaches might have made some mistakes. Those players listen to them like they're trained police dogs so to speak. They are very disciplined if anything. I'm wondering if some of the mistakes were due to not adjusting coaching calls quickly enough, etc. Just looking for other's insights on this?

  15. Riverview completely overmatched Crestwood but the mistakes and bad calls hurt the,. Onc ethey shook off the rust they looked proficient. Also, their punter had one AMAZING punt to really set the D up.

  16. I told you so! I watched SMCC practice, and watched them get a whoppin Friday night. They need help this year, and lots of it. Those "golden" boys are nothing this year, and that's just going to kill all those big mouth CC fans. Maybe the count down guy can start a count down until there last game, because it's going to be a looooonnnnnngggggg season for CC fans. Bahaha

  17. Keep in mind for Smcc Yinger there biggest back didnt play last night. Also crocket was a good team give them some credit, they would destroy anyone in the huron league. That team was big and fast.

  18. I would like to see any other HL team beat Crockett. That was the best team CC will face all year, not counting playoffs of course.

Yes, CC could have played better, but Crockett has a lot of good athletes, they are better than last year. What are they D3? I think there ranked in the top 5 in the state.

This is why Giarmo has his kids play a team of that caliber the first game of the year, so that they are ready for HL teams. BTW, did any other HL teams play a team of Crockett's size, speed, and state ranking last night?

  19. SMCC looked pathetic. Defense needs LB's that can wrap and stick it. Offense needs some RB's that weigh more then 140 lbs and can get you 3 the hard way and block. That didnt exist last night. They have a huge bench and better start dipping into it. Lot's of talent just standing on the sidelines.

  20. Another CC hater…I could only stay until the half, and CC made some costly mistakes early. But I will say they need to toughen up.Crocket had a desent passing game and their QB could run, other than that CC should have made it a closer game. They need more pressure out of the D-line and the O-Line needs to get back to drive blocking.

  21. CC Oline was horrible, backs were being hit in the backfield and absolutly no drive to the BIG guys they brag about ,the D couldn't wrap and tackle, they looked scarred. Some hype, they have no toughness to them .They turned the ball over numerous times inside their own 3o,far from the team of last year.If no-one steps up next week they could go on a run of losses real quick.Im not even goin start on how weak the backers and cover guys looked.Everyone will pass on CC.And as far as coaching, there were a few bad calls. The only team effort here was in the loss, everyone contributed. This may be the worst team in years for CC.Total lack of toughness.

  22. Chris…FYI, the examiner article says GI vs Huron is next Friday, but the game has been moved to Thursday.

Should be a great game and will be very telling on which up-start team has an opportunity to potentially crack the HL upper echelon.

Looks like both teams can score and defend….or may pretend?

    Strap it up boys!!!

  23. Hey they stink….Detroits huge but not cohesive. Doesn't mean the line didn't dominate and that they won't in the HL.

    Only time will tell.

  24. like i siad, smcc is not as good as everyone thinks. it shows how a team with big heads can tear a state championshp team down to an average team….they weren't even that tonight

  25. beaudrie off to a good start at summit with a 16-14 victory according to the awesome neil szuch. The Ramblers stink but still a good start.

  26. Yes Flat Rock looks Bright in the future offensively, they also had a nice reciever in number 2, moved the ball in the air for the first time in years and did so very well, i think Montiy needs to be an end and Knoch at MLB that kid will step up and fill gaps and hit

  27. After watching 3 sophmores do work on a TD. I thought to myself this is the future of the huron league. Rams were on the 14, Chickeral pitches to blosser, around the corner trucks one defender picks up a block from colin knoch and barrels into the endzone.

That kid had to have had at least 130

  28. The coaches thought it would b a good idea to move knoch from mlb to de, just one reason lb play wasn't that great. FR outplayed them for 47 mn just some bad call s from the sideline. FR needs another option a wing as well. Blosser had about 30 carries .

  29. i was at the airport game. airport has a good offense and thats about it. there defense needs a lot of work along with there special teams. they put up a fight to a great bedford team. jodeci didnt impress me that much but potcova the sophomore qb is the real deal.

  30. For the Flat Rock vs Ida game, for flat Rock Jeff Baker had two field goals and blosser 1 td and Knoch had 2tds but 1 was called back. The 3 sophmores Chic, Blosser and Knoch dominated for FR.

  31. Was suprised to see Flat rock airing it out a bit. Their sophomores played great, but it seems they are lacking LB's. Defensive line was solid but no LB's seemed to fill holes and hit. Offensivly didn't seem too shabby, Need to run more than 5 plays though. Flat Rock looked much better than i thought they would. But it's going to be a long season, with them only beating Erie, and Maybe if they show up against rival Huron.

  32. GI beat Detroit Western 35-0.

Defense showed up and dropped a goose egg on Detroit. The Alongi brothers are for real and Groff was a stud too both on offense and defense.

Offensively Kish ushered the Pigskin on the ground (Dex who) all over Detriot and White and Adkins put on an arial show. Cameron was not the key go to guy tonite…but he will get his touches.

Curtis, Howey, and the O and D lines also had good games and will be a force all year.

Detroit Western is not a good team so I am still not convinced the GI D has turned the corner…BUT a shutout for the first time in years IS something to build on.

Time to strap it up tight boys when GI comes a callin'.
