Week 9 Picks Part III

Jefferson/Bedford: These two teams haven’t played since the 2000 season and have met only three times ever. Jefferson has won all three of the previous meetings entering this weeks match up. Jefferson has a 4-4 record while Bedford counters with an impressive 6-2 mark.

Jefferson has been up and down this season and has beaten the teams they should with the lone exception being a week 3 loss to Huron. Bryan McCullough and Dylan Sharkus have been a nice combination this season and Jake Sterling has solidified the Bears quarterback position.

Bedford is enjoying one of their best seasons since 1998 and and own an impressive win over Ann Arbor Pioneer. The Mules have qualified for the playoffs for the first time since 1990. The Mules are led by Jared Kujawa and Zach Messer on offense. Bedford loves to run the ball much like Jefferson does.

I don’t really see this being much of a game. I think Bedford just has a better team but you can never count out Marc Cisco. I think Bedford will just outscore the Bears. Look for a Bedford win 35-21.

Milan/Belleville: Milan won last years game in a rout 42-13 while the Tigers were in the middle of a 20 game losing streak that had spanded three seasons. It remains to be seen this year if 3-5 Belleville is any better than a season ago. The schedule is much softer compared to previous seasons but winning can do wonders for a teams confidence.

Milan has proven me wrong most of the season. I expected the Big Reds to fall off big time after last year’s 8-2 season. Milan sits at a respectable 5-3 and is one win away from their 3rd consecutive playoff appearance. Milan loves to run the ball but have been effective passing with the improvement of Grant Karr.

Belleville used to be a power in the Mega Red but have fallen on some hard times. Coach Bob LaPointe’s team is giving up nearly 29 points per game while scoring at a 21 point clip. Belleville has some speed but may find it negated by Milan’s own speed.

I think Milan needs to be careful in this game. The Tigers would love to knock the Big Reds out of the playoffs. This is a game that Milan should win and I think they will 31-20.
