Airport/Flushing: Flushing won last years meeting between these two teams 22-20. The Raiders are are regulars in the playoffs but are on the verge of elimination at 5-3 and need a win against the Jets. This is a great game for Airport to play in preparation for a playoff run.
This game forces Airport to be in playoff mode right now. Flushing is playing for something and the Jets don’t want to limp into the playoffs. Jodeci Mays will be one of the best backs the Raiders have seen all year. Airport has three excellent linebackers and should give Flushing problems offensively.
The Raiders are coming off back to back eight win seasons but aren’t quite the caliber of those teams. They are extremely tough against the run giving up about 80 yards per game. Offensively the Jets should see two different quarterbacks in Sal Ausiello and Jon Rauch.
This could be a great game to watch and I think it will be a barn burner. The Jets have the better team on paper this year and I believe they will win this game 28-27.
SMCC/Divine Child: This is a geat game for these two teams to play every year. Both programs have storied histories and have won state titles. These teams have played five times throughout the years with SMCC holding a 3-2 edge in games won.
SMCC lost the opener just like I predicted and they stormed through the Huron League like I predicted. I also pedicted them to finish 8-1 which means I have predicted them to beat DC. SMCC’s line doesn’t get a lot of credit but they open some nice holes for the six players who carry the ball for SMCC.
Divine Child will be celebrating the state championship teams from 1973 and 1975 that were coached by DC legend Bill McCartney. The Falcons also need a win to qualify for the state playoffs for the first time 2004. Marty Mitchell leads the offense for the Falcons and will be one of the better quarterbacks SMCC has faced this year.
This is a game that could go either way and should be much closer than last year’s romp. I hope this series continues into the future as a closer for both teams. I have to go with the Falcons winning 21-20. That would be the Falcons of SMCC.

SMCC DOES IT AGAIN!!! GO FALCONS!!!!
compared to most teams they are on the smaller side..next year it may a different story…if you have seen them play they dont play like a small line.
SMCC is not that small across the front. They average about 205 lbs per man. Couple that with speed and good coaching and that's more than big enough for HS football. Quit making them sound like Special Olympic midgets. They are good sized, gifted athletes who have excellent coaches. They have a good chance to go all the way in the state playoffs.
That's funny, I don't see any blind, closed minded, CC parents on here saying, "No one can stop us!". "Were going to win"!
The Airport game proved these kids are for real. They will battle DDC to the end tonite!
to the 11:11 comment.
ending the season.
this is what cc lives and dies for.
won the league and now they are not stopping.
I think SMCC/DDC will be a great game with the weather as a factor in SMCC favor. It will be tough beating them at home but I think SMCC has enough talent and heart to win this game in a close one.
Airport better be ready for a fight, the same thing happened last year, The JV squad played flushing very good and Flushing didn’t look like a good team but came down here and won a close game. This year it looks like Airports JV took it to them which means the school will really rally around their varsity tomorrow night to get the win to put them in the playoffs. Flushing is a small community that really gets into their High School football and they chartered 4 really nice buses for the teams and players to come down here last year just to play Airport. I don’t think the same will happen the other way. Airports defense better come to play, the weather will be nastier up in the Flint/Flushing area than down here, Airports offensive line better open some holes Mayes and company and Airport wins a close one too.
How come none of the other Huron League teams schedule tough last game teams like SMCC, Jefferson and Airport do. Well, I take some of that back, Airport always beat up on Ypsi Lincoln till last year. Tough games help build tough programs and tune up’s for the playoffs. Good luck to all Huron League teams tomorrow night, end the season with a bang.
to the 844pm poster…. SMCC is not playing DCC.
Jealous airport people thinking smcc will lose.
of couse since they beat u you still have no respect.
grow up
i do not hate anyone, i'm just practical. i watch alot of games, all over s.e. michigan and i do not hate cc, but i am not a blind cc parent either! you see i know u parents are not open minded. i just feal DCC has more to lose, and they got killed last year, in fact they gave up, the coach will not let that happen again. Go promise keepers! fbrat9
CC's O-line not getting credit? Who are you kidding, they've been getting so much attention and their last win was all over the Monroe News. And you can't stop talking about it here on this blog site. What are you looking for anyway?
CC will lose by 3 TD's ????
That statement is as bright as a 25 watt light bulb.
ill take smccs line and howey over Divine Childs SMCC dominates just like they did against airport!
How can you hate on the best team in the region and league Fbrat? Must of beat your team
people said airport had the better line and smcc won. i know divine child is not airport, but still. smcc o-line is undersized every game and that does not seem to matter to them. they could very well lose, but don't count them out. just like the airport game.
Rain could help Cc's D against the pass, but the O-Line that gets no credit I belive will come through again. What will it take for those boys to get their credit? Is anyone with a voice watching? Or is because they are a class C school. The middle of CC's line on a high profile team who gets exposure and these boy may be All-Staters.Am I wrong or just hopefull? Please anyone….
I know that Bill McCartney went to Riverview High school around the same time Lloyd Carr did and that he was All State, but did they declare State Champions back then? Because there were quite a few teams that were undefeated in 1958 in the same class as Riverview.
McCartney played at Riverview in the 60's played in the era with 2 other coaches who also coached at major college programs Lloyd Carr and Woody Widenhoffer who both played at Missouri before Lloyd left to come back to play at Northern Michigan. Widenhoffer was a coach for the Pittsburg Steelers and in the USFL and also at Vanderbilt. And I thingk at MSU.
DC will win. better line and qb! Plus DC needs a victory to assure a decent draw in playoffs. CC will be hard pressed to stop DC's offence. plus this year DC will stop cc offence. 3 td win for DC. game is 90 mental, DC has the advantage.CC need not win to play at home next week. they will not be able to get up for the 4th tough game in a row. 28-7 DC!
dearborn will win! better QB and line! they have to win to assure decent playoff game. C.C.'s db's will be hard pressed to stop D.C.,i expect D.C. to will by 3 touchdowns.
Airport fans predict another blowout. Is anyone surprised? Granted, they have won most of their games by a good margin, but last I remember they said the same thing going into the SMCC week and will do the same for the playoffs.
P.S. It really is ok if you win by a slim margin too guys. Nobody will think you aren't that good just because you only won by 1.
nope, the airport, flushing game is not going to be that close. expect them jets to get them 2's in too because its going to be a loonnng ride up there but its going to end 35-7!
here is some trivia. Where did Bill McCartney play high school football? He was all state and a state champion there.
