Nice to see I get you thinking sir…..actually, I'm not a SMCC or Airport follower, but I know the easiest goat to get on this BLOG is Airport fans.
Please re-read my post before you decide to tell me my thoughts and feelings about Airport, you'll see that I compliment both schools and state my case….for the underdog.
Not because I haven't seem them play, but becuase the consensus is that SMCC may as well not show up……which of course is just the attitude for lots of sad faces Friday night in Carleton. I most definetly could be wrong….but I smell something brewing, just ask Huron what it smells like.
One thing is for sure…. I wouldn't bet a Jet hot dog on this match up. Somebody please post the game on you-tube!!!
okay the guy who said SMCC is going to win and they are going to strap it up the reason your think they are going to win is becasue your from grosse ile… because your the guy who says grosse ile is going to strap it up tight every week or SITOFN You havent got to see Airport yet because Grosse Ile hasnt played airport yet… i guarantee if you had played airport before you would not be saying SMCC will win
For everyone who plans on attending the game Friday night. Remember, it's only a game, and not the end of the world for either team. Keep a cool head on your shoulders, and let the boys play. No need for nastiness before, or after the game. Good luck to both teams!
LOL thats right, airport has waaaay more than 2 plays. and even if they did have these "2 plays" well obviously the run up the middle and the short passes are working because they are still undefeated! AHA!

Red is an amazing coach, but dont forget Hall is in charge of the DB's, NOT the defense. Don't get me wrong I played for both coaches also(at airport). Coach V is an excellent defensive coach, and can really get the team prepared and fired up. Neither Red nor Hall was head coach at CC and that should be noted. Red doesn't run an offense that even REMOTELY resembles SMCC's, as it's one in it's own.
I like your comments because they have intelligence behind them, and I wish both teams good luck, but Airport will win this game.
SMCC has a rich, impressive history and that can NOT be taken from them. Airport's is just beginning, but that also should NOT be taken from them.
I wish both teams the best outside of this game(both should take districts), but come Friday I'll stand behind Airport.

To the young fella that claims Airport only has two plays, 5 yard passes and runs up the middle. If your team had figured that out after the 1st quarter, you and your team might have beat them, right? But you didn't, and niether will CC. Trust me, they have more than 2 types of plays. But from your view, all your team saw was the ref with his arms up signaling another 6 points. LOL
OK… the BS has to stop here.. "storied rivalry"? CC dominates the rivalry. It has been even over the last ten years but overall it has been dominated by CC. Not a storied rivalry at all. CC has no rival in the Huron league. Not till 2 former SMCC coaches went to Airport and showed them how to win, have they been able to compete with the Falcons. I played for both Redmond and Hall, they are no doubt the reason Airport is where they are at now. . I know I will catch tons of flack for this but it is true. Those that say CC has a rival in the league are only fooling themselves. 18 league titles for CC and the next closest I believe is Riverview with 8. Teams come and go as to who challenges for the league title, only one has been there from the beginning…. CC. With that being said.. I think Airport has the better team this year and should win this game. They still have to play it however.
I am a CC grad and had picked CC to win the league but now think Airport will win. They have dominated every team this year other than Bedford and I just see no reason they wont beat my Falcons. You still have to play the game though.
airport is a great team and they are the favorite no doubt, but that doesn't mean smcc can't win. anything can happen! just like flat rock wasn't expected to beat huron and they did 38-25. i know that is probably not the best comparison, but to me that game shows anything can happen on any given friday!
Just for clarification, it did rain on that opening night against Crockett but SMCC did a nice job of controlling the time of possession in the 1st half. It wasn't just the rain in that 1st half.
Im not being nice anymore its rediculous.. airport handled bedford, bedford beat pioneer, the jets are for real end of story. Thats it. Smcc lost close to crockett only because crockett couldnt run there spread in the rain the whole time. Played close with huron and riverview, this is a storied rivalry but seriosly its not gonna be close this year, Airport 38 SMCC 6, i cant wait til next week when the results are in and everyone on here can stop speculating and flat out say airport is hands down far and away the best, beat em up Jets make it ugly prove a point!!!!!
I did pick SMCC to win it in the beginning and I had Airport 2nd. After seeing both teams play, I think Airport is probably the better team on paper but I don't know if they have changed my opinion on who will win this game.
You'll have to wait until late tonight before I reveal my pick on the game.
lol airport does 2 things, run up the middle, and 5 yard passes. i know, ive played against it. If SMCC stops their line from making blocks and plays man up, SMCC will be able to stop Airport plain and simple.
SMCC can watch all the Airport tapes they want, and still won't be able to stop them. How many SMCC fans ever watched Airport play? You wouldn't be so fast to fire off a CC victory if you did. I've had the chance to watch both teams play, and many other bloggers on here are right. Airport has to much size, talent and speed, compaired to CC. The Jets O-line is big and fast. They open the doors for a host of speedy running backs. The CC 4 yards and a cloud of dust only works for so long. CC had trouble with Huron. Riverview was only a one TD game. I've been following this blog since it had under 1000 hits. I WISH there was a way to see what everyone has said for the duration of the season(thats why i put j.w. on every post). I'm curious to see how many of the people who said SMCC would win the league without a doubt are the ones saying Airport is a favorite now. Also curious to see if HLF stands by his pre-season prediction(great blog by the way).

Hey ridiculous….Hate to burst your bubble BUT SMCC will be strapped up tight and bring winds of change on this BLOG about Airport being the greatest team since leather helmuts.
Too many people are looking at the statistics/personnel/biggest game garbage…..it will come down to who executes, turnovers and special teams. Both teams can score and defend, albiet from different styles. So, in a game like this where emotions, weather and the kitchen sink are thrown in, the edge will go to the team most prepared to handle the most adversity….SMCC. Airport hasn't had an adversity test yet this year!!(haven't had too)…will or can they pass it?
SMCC 24 Airport 21. Kinda like to be the contrairian in this one because it truely is anyones game and this author wouldn't be surprised if Airport blew em out either…which I know alot of people on this site want to say but won't….too big a bowl of crow to eat I guess based on alot of anti-SMCC rhetoric in past weeks.
Great week of Football for the HL, lots of other interesting matchups for teams jockeying for potential playoff spots too!!

Why does everybody keep saying if SMCC comes to play they will win and if they realize how big of a game this is they will win… What are you guys smoking do you think that airport is just taking this like any other game… This is the last time they will ever get to play SMCC not to mention undefeated means home field in playoffs and league chammps… i have played for airport and iknow that this will be by far the best week of practice because it always is… they will not allow an upset…. something that needs to be said and i know that CC fans will hate it…but SMCC has been good throughout the years, winning leagues, districts, semi final and finals appearances…but this NOT the same type of team…period. Theres no more Giarmos, Marinos, Halls, or Rapps leading the way up front. Those teams werent unbeatable because there schemes, coaches, or backs were that good…they won because they had the biggest baddest line in the league and their backs werent getting touched til they were four yards downfield. Im not sure the exact numbers but their line this year probably averages around 190 not 250 or so with 300 pound bench presses. Look at the '06 CC team they were better flat out better, Bicy and Robinson were faster than any back they have this year, Lovell is a horse but so was Bellestri, difference was the line they had in front of them. Airport is bigger up front, will cause piles, have fast backers who hit and make tackles, and even faster Db's who wont allow big plays to happen. Last year SMCC had under 100 yards total offense in this game, and most of airports starters were juniors. People on here say if CC shows up, if CC knows how big this game is, if CC plays good they CAN win. Airport is the same way they know this could mean undefeated season, league champs, home playoff games, the whole nine yards. If CC doesnt show they could lose by 40 if they do it could be close…for a half. Once you see this offense at CC a few possessions it slows down, is easier to read, and you adjust to it. SMCC runs three play, airport over 100. Which one is easier to defend? One team can throw, one cannot, both can run but one is faster (airport), and both can tackle but one is bigger stronger faster (airport). Thats why airport will win this game, superior size and talent. SMCC is a good D6 team but cant beat one of the best D3 teams in the state. Jones, Mays, Close, Baker, Pluff and Draftz are too much for a CC team that doesnt measure up to years past. Airport 34 SMCC 12
heres a completely unbiased opinion…airport 34 smcc 14 and heres why. There are two different teams out there friday night, smcc has a program and coach that bases their offense on hard nosed line it up try and stop us offense, yes they try to be deceiving but they run primarily three plays, an inside trap, and inside the tackle lead, and a qb keep on the outside. Aiport has good coaches who put together a scouting report and practice durning this week without a ball or sometimes a small plastic ball when they're practicing defense. Point here is it is primarily assignment football, if you do your job and tackle everyone every play its an easy offense to stop. Easier said than done, but with no passing game and a very very small offensive line at CC it will be hard to push around a bigger faster airport defense that is used to playing this offense by now. On airports side they can throw, beat you physically up the middle and have speed to burn on the edges. Mays is hands down the best back in the league, Jones arguably the best QB and an offensice line that is bigger, stronger, and more physical the CC's front seven. Redmond at airport has probably watched CC game tapes 150 times and knows what will work and what wont. The thing that those past CC teams have had that this team does not is size up front, and that will be key and easy to see up front in this game, airport is just too well coached, talented and fast for the falcons this week. That why i say aiport 34 SMCC 14

I'm guessing for SMCC to win this week. By the looks of it, their coach got to them and they know this is a big week and they have to take advantage of it and give it their all. If they give it their all, which im sure they will, im guessing this game to be SMCC 36-28

why do you think bedford would beat airport by two touchdowns now if they played… is bedford the only team that improves as they play during the season… i guess so… Airport is good and it wasnt even a close game Airport really beat them by two touchdowns without the last second hail mary… quit ripping on airport and wait til this week is over and airport beats SMCC… everyone will still be hating
to the kid that said something about bedford beating airport by 2 tds.. were talking about cc and airport not bedford which lost to airport already by 2 tds if u dont count the last hail marry play and should of been more points added by airport except for a few turn overs… anyways.. this is gonna be a good game, i hope a lot of people come out to watch.
The smcc offense better execute like they did last week and their defense needs to step up. If both are on the same level, i see a smcc victory. Special teams are critical as well, Howey the qb has returned two opening kickoffs for tds, and labeau has been solid with kicking. Look for Lovell to lead the Defense along with Pannone, and smcc has several good backs.
Airport is probably the favorite going in. They have won all of their games convinceing and they are playing some good ball. They have some good backs as well. The Defense has been solid and i think it will be a great game come friday night. Good luck to all teams in the H.L. You have represented the League well!
alright, this game is arguably the biggest game in the HL in the past 4 or 5 years. the winner should win the league outright seeing that airport would have GI and FR left and CC would have MJ and Milan who Airport already routed. That being said, this will be a battle of the O's. My question….does SMCC have the defense to stop Airport on any possessions? GI put up over 500 yards of O and you know Redmond and the Jets will put up more than 24 points with that kind of yardage.
My prediction: Airport- 49

This game is what High School Football is all about. Actually, there should be three great Airport/SMCC games this week. All of the levels have great records.
I agree with the last comment. Both teams are very talented and will come out ready to play. Airport IS seen as the favorite here, again repeating what the last comment stated, but if CC can come out with fire, maybe put together a big drive on O or big stop on D, they have a good shot. I think both offenses are too good for the score to be low. This being said, I believe turnovers are going to be HUGE! Rain is predicted, fumbles are going to be critical. Lastly, special teams, special teams, special teams. CC better kick it away from #5 and Airport's gotta watch out for the kick return. CC scored twice this year off of opening kick returns.
Overall, the game is going to be verrrry close. The little things will decide who comes out of this game with a W and possibly the Huron League Title. It boils down to who wants it more and who has more discipline. My prediction: SMCC 34 Airport 28 Get your seats earrrrly!
As of right now i'm 20-4 with my predictions.
My losses are:
Riverview's loss week 1
Milan's win week 1
Flatrock beating Riverview week 4
Flatrock beating Huron week 5
My point being, I give credit where credit is due. I predicted the Huron/CC game to be within three points, and it was within one.
CC has a good team, and they will do good in the playoffs. Airport also has a good team, and I can see them adding a 3rd district title to their resume.
All that aside, both teams defenses have been great, allowing 85 and 86 points respectfully(17/game).
Offensively Airport averages 43 a game, CC 32.
Enough with the "paper" aspect of the game. Airport has a diverse offense, with 5 or 6 players that can make plays. They are NOT limited to just running the ball. SMCC does not switch it up. They run at you while attempting to create confusion as to who has the ball. This has proved to be effective, but against a team with the caliber of Airport you HAVE to be able to keep them guessing.
I see the falcons scoring, but as the game goes on the scoring will slow. Close first half, with the Jets pulling ahead in the second half.

Airport
1)Be yourself! Dont try to do too much and get caught up in the hype.
2)Big plays! Let your weapons be just that and cause major damage both in the air and on the ground in chunks.
SMCC
1)Ball control! 4 yards and a cloud of dust would do the Falcons just fine. Keep Airport's offense off the field.
2)No penalties! The Falcons cannot afford to be in any 1st and 20 situations.
3)Special Teams! Will Redmond kick it deep? If he does, take advantage with the best kick and punt return in the state.
Should be a dandy, I see it going to Airport 35-22.

here is what i think about the game…airport is no doubt the favorite going into the game, but anything can happen. airport has a great team this year. with that being said i think this will be their toughest test this year–aside from bedford. i am not saying who is gonna win because i don't know. if smcc plays the way they can they CAN win. i am not saying they are goin to win, but i am saying they CAN if they play to the best of their abilites. don't count out the falcons just because airport is better on paper!! this should be one GREAT game!! good luck to both team in this game, the rest of the season and hopefully in the playoffs!!!
