We haven’t created too much of a ruckus with my picks so far but we still have a long way to go. By the way, only 5 days until high school football in Michigan gets started including the Huron League.
Milan is coming off an excellent season which saw them go 6-1 in the Huron League and 8-2 overall. The Big Reds have an excellent program and tremendous depth which has been developed over the years by Steve Robb. It is hard to imagine that Milan can maintain the success they have had recently and I see them struggling a bit this year because they have to replace so many talented players.
Offensively look for Milan to run a pro style offense with a focus on both the run and the pass until they find out where their strengths lie. I would anticipate the Big Reds to run the ball more as the season moves along in an effort to wear down their opponents late in the game. Milan’s strengths have always been speed and depth. Look for that to continue to be the case this year.
The Big Reds will be forced to rely on their defense early on while the offense develops. Thom Box will be a monster in the middle of the defensive line along with Ryan Hasten. Look for Chris LaBelle to be a standout LB for Milan.
Milan had some average years from 2001 to 2004 and I would look for this to be an average year for Steve Robb’s team. Most every team in the league is improved from a year ago and I don’t see that from Milan. Look for them to finish tied with Riverview at 3-4 in the league and 4-5 overall.
alright whoever said airport was 80% seniors last year does not know airport… the team had "some" stong seniors but the rest of the starters were juniors…and whoever put CC #1 Jefferson #2 and Airport #3 needs to quit smoking the reefer… one name JODECI MAYS
MAYS IS NO GOOD. airport will not be good
THANK YOU SOMEONE FINALLY LOOKED AT HURON's SCHEDULE….and realized it doesn't include ROUGE OR ECORSE
Okay whoever thinks that Jefferson will finish 2nd in the league go jump off a bridge, especially because they will not beat Aiport or Milan, heck i bet Riverview will beat em, but theres no way they finish 2nd. This is the way it will look at seasons end.
1. Smcc
2. Airport (Possible tie for 1st?)
3. Milan
4. Riverview
5. Jefferson (Down year for Cisco)
6. Huron
7. Flatrock
8. G.I.
Just wondering if anyone on here has looked at Huron's schedule? Because I think it may have a huge effect on this dream season so many are predicting.
8/28 @Erie Mason
9/4 Airport
9/11 @Jefferson
9/18 SMCC
9/25 @ Flat Rock
10/2 @ Milan
10/9 Riverview
10/16 @ Grosse Ile
10/23 Crestwood
I have to say this blog is awesome!!! gonna make Huron league football a lot more interesting..everyone seems to be respectful on here!! I like it..look forward to reading it everyday!
Milans season could go either way this yr. The ypsi game will prove to be huge! The Milan/huron game last yr was all blake claiborne. Maynerd is probably the best qb in the league. But Milan will have a very solid team this yr winning anywhere from 4 to 7 games this yr. I agree that they will search for an idenity on offense and they will be able to find it in the run game. Defense will be above average. Like i said friday night will tell alot

I understand that Huron is returning alot of players (even though they lost explosive receiver Clairborne), but the fact remains that they haven't played above .500 since 1978.
I understand that predictions are opinions, but until Huron proves to have major improvements in the trenchs, they will continue to lose to league powers.
#1 – Airport
#2 – Jefferson
#3 – SMCC
#4 – Milan
#5 – Riverview
#6 – Flat Rock
#7 – NB Huron
#8 – Grosse Ile
Take it to the bank.
Huron does not have the best LB in the league…SMCC has 2 better Nava is better at Airport…the best passing QB, yes!! one of the top receivers, yes…remember the years of Joe Richards, and Jason Richards They were the best qb's in the league and look what it got them..?? They also had great receivers back then..I do remember the Goins kid being very good..To win in the Huron league you have to play D..they have some good kids, but do they have enough?? they can win games with thier O, but they won't beat the big 4 unless they play D
I beleave Huron will crack the top four this year. They bring back aleast 6 starters on both sides of the ball. The best QB,WR,LB in the league and i beleave the best 1-2 punch in RBs.And to top it off both sides of the line are going to be there strong point.Everyone has there own opinion. But i think you should try to sell me on yours. Not just cut up other teams and talk crap you can do that on mlive.Where all huron league teams we need to show some respect.
I played on Airport last year, we probably had 40% senior starters with juniors who came in a lot for those starters, and the senior starters played at positions that are much easier to fill in for
If you look at last years airport roster i think you will see there starters where 80% seniors.
SMCC will win it. Jefferson #2 Airport #3 Milan #4 Huron #5 Riverview #6 Flat Rock #7 Gi #8
Whoah! Hold the phone here! There is no way that Huron will finish in the top 4. They have one big name and thats Maynard, noone else.
Once again I will shore things up in the next few days and people will understand what I did.
Did you see last years Milan/Huron game? Do you think Milan will be better than last year? Do you think Huron will be better than last year?
I agree that Huron has gotten better but I think its a safer pick to put them in the 5th spot rather than Milan. The Chiefs have alot of talent in the skilled positions but unless the line play on both sides of the ball are tremendously improved it will be hard to break the top 4.
Also it is Ryan Hasten that will accompany Thom Box on the defensive line.
Wow! Doesn't Huron deserve a little credit for getting better?
I meant shameful that the rest of the league would ever even come close to allow Huron out of the cellar!
Be patient I think you will see it all come together in the next few days and there will be nothing shameful about it.
OK! I think you will officially start a ruckus with this post. To be heading into the TOP 4 and still no mention of Huron? Shameful.
Couldn't agree more with all of your picks so far… in my opinion Airport started many many juniors and this will be a Senior class with talented players in all positions….. SMCC has Lovell who we all know is a tank and they run that tricky offense… those are the two top teams… in my opinion airport is better considering they smashed CC allowing less than 100 yards last year and have a more talented team this year… then Jefferson then Huron
