  1. @Anonymous (10:33). By you saying it is an off year for SMCC, you are really complimenting a program that finished third in league play. SMCC is a D6 school. It is a growing school that serves Monroe county and beyond, working with many families that value a God centered eduction – even those that "can't afford it." If it grows to be a D3 size school, we would need more banners in the gym to reflect league championships. As (by your own admission), it is a program that should finish 1st or 2nd on normal years. Dont worry, SMCC will meet your expectations the next 4 years in league play. By the way, I know people from every school in the league … I have no idea who Anonymous is … but would be happy to continue this fun banter.

  2. "Ithaca fan" mmhhmm sure. People find the craziest ways to rip on lil SMCC. Besides only people around here call them SMCC. They are known around state as MSMCC. Some real weirdos around here.

  3. I just stumbled on this website. I am an Ithaca fan. Nice website about your league. Are there any other teams in it besides SMCC?
    See you at Ford Field.

  4. Great job Milan and GI.
Milan you are without doubt the 2012 Huron League Champs
11:55. Would love to see GI and CC play again this season…you might be surprised at the outcome.
The GI loss helped the CC team get to the playoffs.

    CC parent.

  5. If I wanted names on here I would require a log in or something. The anonymous stuff keeps it fun and interesting. No names necessary but I obviously don't mind sharing my own.

  6. is no one even acknowledging gi anymore? Just 6 comments on the game preview and 1 comment on the final score! No support at all for what a great season they had or how good dcds was. Id like to remind you all that they beat smcc

  7. What fun is that, if I put my name on here, this would be no fun. I happen to know both of you. Think about that for a minute.

Anyhow, my thoughts on SMCC are just opinions, they(SMCC) do deserve a lot of credit. Its just obvious to me how much of an advantage they have in D6. They roll through D6 on an off year, what does that tell you?? Obviously D6 is not that good.
I don't want to take away from what SMCC has done and I'm sure many of you think D6 is very competitive, with the thought the SMCC is just an overwhelming powerhouse that is unstoppable every year.

Good Luck and hopefully they will beat whose left.

  8. And I'll say this because I know it to be true. The SMCC Falcons are grateful and fortunate to play in such a balanced and well run league as the Huron. People like to hate us and root against us but in the end the league prepares its teams well and we should all feel lucky to be a part.

  9. Ahh look at that Terry. The only two people that usually put their name to something on here just happen to be from the Flat Rock Class of 1984.

Just in case your on here for the first time. Chris Schultz is the Huron League Football Blog.

  10. A challenge to all the "Anonymous" bloggers … many of whom I enjoy reading … how about being bold enough to put your name (and/or your face) with your comments? This is a generally friendly site and the Huron League is generally a friendly place. Who knows, maybe the person you talk with at a game is the same person you have been responding to on the blogs.

  11. They are in the D6 for a reason and they cant change that so get over it and move on. Give these kids some credit. It is so easy to judge them I would love to see how many of us could go out there and play like they have. Are there better teams, maybe but for now they are the last team standing in the huron league so stop bellyaching and cheer them on.

  12. Hey 12:05 you know that CC must play D6?? They do not have a choice. Well they do in league play and usually wipe the a$$ of those bigger schools!

  13. Congrats to SMCC. I am not a SMCC fan at all, and very much agree with the 10:59 statement. All of us that follow high school football closely know how exactly what goes on and have our opinions.

They have done good to get this far even though it is D6. We all know this would not be the case in a higher division that the rest of the league plays in, but it doesn't really matter. They are entitled to play D6, so why not.

Careful season scheduling helps success too. Many Huron league schools are scheduling very tough out of league opponents, not a good idea in my mind. Need some games to hone your skills. SMCC very smart in that aspect.

I will quit knocking them. The real deal is now. I will be impressed if they continue on.
Grass Lake was good, but no GI or Milan. SMCC would have got crushed
by Tecumseh just like Milan did. Tecumseh would win D6.

If they beat Constantine and Ithaca
    they deserve to be champs!

    1. Untill this year CC's non league games have included: Plymouth, Detroit Crockett twice, Devine Child and Saginaw Novell twice, please list the murderers row of non league opponets your school has scheduled. Laughable!

  14. Here is the thing people. You can find people on every side of the fence when it comes to anything. That is just human nature. It doesn't matter if the facts are facts or not. People will still have opinions.

SMCC has a great D6 program that competes for league titles virtually every year against D3 and D4 competition. Does it help them get better? Absolutely, when they get to D6 the first few rounds are basically like playing a solid Huron League team.

I think what we have saw from GI the last few years is almost the same. While the teams that GI has beaten are very good and have some great talent those teams would be basically some real solid Huron League teams.

With that said, SMCC and GI are both much better right now than earlier in the season.

  15. EATING CROW!

I like many of you could take SMCC or leave them but out of curiosity went to the game last night and all I can say is WOW! All of us who said that they play middle school teams should be ashamed of ourselves. These boys played a great game of football. I saw them play against Milan and last night they played like a whole different team. They play as a team not as individuals. So unless you are watching these boys play dont put them down because they will make you eat crow. I am admitting I am now a SMCC Falcon Football Fan. Congratulations Falcon Boys you did our league proud!

  16. Great job SMCC – How about that defense in the 2nD half. Go get Constantine next week. Good Luck to Grosse lle today as well.

  17. Ya Grass Lake was a terrible team. No talent.

Weird because before CC beat em all you heard about was how much more talented grass lake was.

  18. Let's give SMCC the credit they deserve. Some say if they win "they played a Middle school"& if they lose they were not really that good anyway. Well I ask you all now – How shall we feel about them when they beat some great teams to win the Huron League next year?? J. from Carleton

  19. EDDINGS NWOSU BLANCHETTE LA PLANTE MILLER EBY REGALADO ANTONELLI O LEAR CORBIN HILKENS SHUTDOWN GRASS LAKE AWESOME DEFENSE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  20. As I said in the first week, no competition for SMCC till the finals. Same story every year.
Great job against mediocre competition. SMCC would have went this far last year in this division even if they were 4-5.

Good to see 1 huron league team still at it. Good Luck to GI tomorrow.

    1. I would like to see GI vs. GRASS LAKE, when grass lake won we'd see how mediocre they are. Actually i would have like to have seen CC not take the second half off when they played GI, then we wouldn't be having this conversation. You want to talk about mediocre, 5 out of the other 7 huron league schools couldn't even compete in D 6 on a yearly basis, that's sad.

  21. Congrats CC on a much deserved win! Way to battle!

Mr. Huronleaguefootballblogger does a great job at predicting. Many of you other contributors predicting CC losses, not so much.
