How much does Milan’s Trace Lindeman weigh?
It looked like Air Giarmo at times last night.
Seventy-one points is the most Riverview has ever scored in a game.
Seventy-one points is the most that Flat Rock has ever given up in a game.
Is the the same Huron team that couldn’t score earlier this year?
Jefferson’s Elijah Sandore must be the real deal.
How is Grosse Ile’s Danny McCarty?
They’re trying hard to keep the streak alive in Carleton.
I enjoyed talking with Riverview’s Jeff Stergalas at the MIlan/SMCC game.
Railsplitters win, Railsplitters win, theeeeeeeeeeeeeee Railsplitters win!
Did it rain anywhere else other than at Milan?
SMCC has a very nice team but probably a year away from making a run to Ford Field.
Milan’s Robert Kanitz does everything, I swear that was him that sold me my popcorn at halftime.
I’m not sure if Grosse Ile will win another game this season.
8:46 Well we had mitroka
I think even if Flat Rock had their 3 best players from last year (Chickeral, Blosser, and Knoch) I don't know if they could win a few games with the rest of the talent on this team.
Is it just me or is the league just not as interesting as it all use to be? Like there seems like there are no players like French from Airport who could do it all or players like Sterling Wilson or Jodeci Mays? Or the hard nose players like Knoch. I miss watching players like that in this league.
If you think Lindeman is 5'8" you're insane
Thomas Lindeman plays baseball, and played football his freshman year and put up impressive numbers at quarterback. He is small in stature like Trace, and also very quick and tough
The question was how much does trace Lindeman weigh? I gave that answer. I also threw out some other things that are pretty accurate. No one player makes a team. It's called a team for a reason. With out Kanitz we lack a passing game. With out Hoover we lack a blocking back/tight end. With out Freeze we lack a center. Everyone has a role, and Coach H does an awesome job getting those boys to play their role. Who else in the Huron League is 6 and 0 ? Milan does not single out players, they play together, they rely on each other. They do what they are taught. That's why they are successful. Earned never given.
Trace Lindeman is quicker than he is fast. Although, his top end speed on a football field is better than most in the Huron League. He does a nice job, as does Kanitz, Hoover and Smith; within the schemes that Milan runs. Plan and simple, the Big Reds play together and each kid does the job they are asked to do…and they do it well.
Not sure Milan is the most athletic team in the conference but they are certainly the best TEAM.
I personally think Coach Kalby is a great coach. I played under him when he first arrived at Huron, and then played 4 years of college ball and am around the program everyday. He has certainly changed the whole school's outlook on that football program from the time I was there, and he is slowly bringing it around. The youth program is expanding (was non existent before he was there) and is slowly but surely feeding kids into the high school program. Everybody is always quick to call it the coaches fault, but the only teams they have lost to this year are best teams in the league, and most of those games the offense moved the ball, but gave up turnovers. You have seen what they can do the last 2 weeks when they hold onto the ball…put up HUGE numbers on the score board.
CB
Heard Traces brother might be the qb next year? Why doenst he play football now
Baseball.
2:46 poster….honestly – GIYRA 7th and 8th grade football and HS varsity are not compareable. Jim is a GREAT man and coach and is contributing to the program, just sit back and support the program as it navigates this tough situation.
*sigh*
Horribly coached? Have you ever been a player under Kalby's program? Have you ever seen the training and determination his players take to prepare for football season?! That weight room is filled every monday, wednesday, and friday for 2 hours throughout the school year after school hours, and 10am-12 throughout the summer. The occupants of that weight room? All football players, pushing it hard, trying to gain weight and muscle mass, pushing hard for success, and put up bigger numbers than the last time they toughed a weight… The first 3 weeks, are all about running, down-ups, miamis, gassers, ect. You sir, need to learn what you're talking about and who you're talking about before you go speaking. You obviously don't know this program at all.. Don't know why I'm bothering to waste my time but you must not have even seen a game this year.. If you think you can be a better coach, go ahead and apply. Show us what you got hot stuff… God can't stand people like you.
KC
Actually if you look closer you will see his times listed under Milan MS. Times were solid for MS but no where close to that. The kid is very fast on the football field though.
Lideman is a great football player, but you are telling me he runs an 11 flat hundred and a 22.3 200. No way. Check athletic.net that wins the league in track last year. Better than the Kelsey kid from Milan who graduated. I am sure he is a great kid but no way he is that fast yet.
Gosh, I don't think I have ever been to the bar with Kalby. Never been to his house and he hasn't been to mine.
Strength and conditioning program a joke? They sure have a bunch of kids lifting on a daily basis in the school. Bigger, faster, stronger is utilized in all the weight lifting classes. The spring tri-mester has a class made up of nearly all footballers (my kid is in there but doesn't play) that does core lifts 4 days per week. All days start with speed and agility for the first 10-15 minutes. The kids at Huron are BIG because they have been developed by a strength and conditioning program. Huron has gotten faster over the years because the footballers that don't do another spring sport are encouraged to run track. About 65% (33) of my 51 athlete boys track team last season was made up of footballers.
Does Kalby play favorites? I hope so. As a guy that has coached basketball and track for a long time, your favorites have a tendency to be the kids that work harder than others, do well in the classroom, are coachable and give you the best chance to win. I would say that 99% of coaches take that approach.
I won't argue that Huron needs to take the next step but why does replacing someone who is committed, has improved your program already and is liked by the kids the answer? That doesn't make sense! I have said this before and I will say it again, the parents credo is, "when you win it's the talent when you lose it's the coaching".
Huron is going to win 4 or 5 games this season, I personally think they will end up 5-4. Could this team have won more? Maybe, but I'm pretty sure the teams that Huron has loss to this season are pretty darn good.
The coach at Huron is the major problem. I don't know if your bar buddies or what chris, but Huron is horribly coached. Their strength and fitness program is a joke, favorites are obiously being played and dumb decions are being made. Mabye "Kalby" needs to cross the bridge to see how a real team opperates because with all the size, talent and potential huron has, this team needs to be contending for a league title every year.
Glad to see Couturier will be able to finish the season. Others have not been so lucky so its nice to hear positive news for a change.
"but if he is to take Huron to the next level it seems to me that somebody else should step in. Maybe its an Offensive coordinator they need…."
This. I'm sorry but if you get someone else in as a HC, the kids will feel uncomfortable and go backwards if you throw someone in there they don't respect. I agree with looking at different Offensive Coordinators and Defensive Coordinators. Noticed this season that its not the same O and D Coordinators on the sidelines as past seasons.
KC
you really think CC will win "easy" riverview game will be a blow for blow game, and LCC will put up a fight.
Trace Lindeman weighs 148 lbs. he is 5'8. He runs a 100 meter in 11 flat. He runs a 200 meter in 22.3. He benches 195 lbs. he squats 250lbs. Please remember he is a freshman. He has 3 more years at varsity football. Oh and his GPA is above a 3.1. So he does his school work too.
Smcc will win their last three games, all easy wins. And no Couturier will be back week 8. Better watch out!
While injuries plague Grosse Ile, Bodner is making a huge mistake keeping coach Jim Mitroka in the booth. He was the best coach my kid ever had. If he was good enough for Army to offer him a coaching job, why isn't he Bodner's choice for defensive coordinator. The complexity he taught to our 7th and 8th graders far exceded what these boys do now. I can't believe he is satisfied with the current GI program.
From what I have been told Both Antonellie and Couturier are both out for the remainder of the season with a torn ACL which is requiring surgery and a broken hand that also required surgery
Corbin also starts on Offense to.
To get to the next level Huron might need somebody else.. I don't think that is too much of a stretch.
The current coach has taken them as far as he can IMO. Has he done wonders.. yes.
With the talent on that team, to go maybe 5-4, says something.
I get he is liked… but if he is to take Huron to the next level it seems to me that somebody else should step in. Maybe its an Offensive coordinator they need….

" I have been involved in two of the best programs in the state."
If you have been involved with 2 of the best programs in the state, I'm sure Kalby would love to have you on his team of coaches… Its like this, that coach is more than a coach; hes a teacher, your friend, a father figure, a role model, and a coach all in one. If you asked me who my favorite teacher was in high school, I'd point to Kalby. If you asked me who was my favorite coach out of Huron, I'd say Kalby. He flipped that program completely, gave it a new look and a new sense of inspiration.. He did more for that program than I think any other Average Joe would've done.. Hell, even had us go to a team building camp one summer to help us come together as a team. He has turned that program around so greatly that if it weren't for him, we'd be battling FR for that 0-9 spot. He is the only coach in school history to ever take a team to a playoff game. His coaching skills are just fine, and he does good at coaching… He can't physically be on the field playing for these kids. Its their job to take in what he says, what he teaches; and execute it on the field.. Kind of tired of people nagging on his coaching, he has made some mistakes, but hes only human.. But to say hes a problem? You sir are wrong.

We are the Milan Big Red's. We are a small community that loves our Friday night football just like you. We sit in the stands at every home game drinking the same lukewarm coffee and half stale popcorn just like you. When you come to our house you are treated with respect. We dont like blowout games. We want your boys to come at us with 100% of what they have as we will always do the same. We hate seeing any kid getting hurt, be it one of ours or one of yours. We love our coaches just like you. We dont care if we win or lose so long as it's a hard fought battle. Yes we have been 1-8 and yes we have been 9-0, but no matter the outcome our butts will be in the stands at the next home game because we love Huron League Football. That's what Milan Big Red's football means to us. "Earned, never given"
Fleck, Cass, Corbin, CZ are the seniors on O. O'Lear and Corbin start on D… so 4 seniors on O and 2 on D by my account.
This team can still be great.. They didn't seem ready to play and there doesnt seem to be much enthusiasm out there. Milan was ready to go and they jumped on CC fast.
CC has 3 tough games left. Riverview, Jefferson and LCC. Can they get to 6 wins?
Anyone know when SMCCs Antonelli and Couturier will be back?
GI still has some really good players out there, they're just exhausted and can never come out of the game for a break.
Lindeman is fun to watch run the ball and he's quick! The good thing about Milan is they play as a team. Without that they wouldn't be 6-0 right now. There is no individual it's a "team". It was a great game to watch. Go Big Reds!!
Correction there are 7 seniors starting for SMCC. There are 11 seniors total for the team and 1 or 2 of them are hurt.
Wow impressive resume. Some of the best you have seen? Wow! maybe you should apply for a position and be on the staff.
Where did I say that they need to settle? I simply pointed out that he has taken them from basically the worst program in the state to respectability. He is still a young coach but he does so much more for that school than win football games. He reminds me a bit of Marc Cisco. The guy didn't have great success his first 10 years but set the foundation for the next 30.
Huron had high expectations for this season but if they can get to 5-4 it would be a good season. They need to beat Airport. Wins should come over FR and Annapolis.
Kanitz is by far MVP of the league. No way Milan is this good without him. He can follow the flow of the game and knows when to push and when to just settle in. SMCC showed their youth last night big time. Vuich #12 will be exciting next year if they continue to get air under the ball. Milan is a great team and Kanitz is ,and has been all season long, the best qb in the league. Hopefully CC improves in time for the playoffs. Next year should be a really great year considering only 4 starters are seniors.
SMCC Alum
mccarty broken collarbone
I feel really bad for GI. There season has been rough with all the injuries. It effects the whole team and hopefully they can finish the season with their heads held high and continue to work hard.
I was at the Milan/SMCC game and I cant believe how quick and hard the rain came. But it did seem like the rain lit a fire under the Flacons butt and they started to play like they usually do.
Milan is good and they won. Yes I am fan HOWEVER I have followed SMCC this season and have never seen so many mistakes by this years team then I have tonight. They were not themselves and it clearly showed. It could have been a more exciting game if not for the mistakes. It would have not changed the outcome though.
Not so sure I agree with you on SMCC being better next year. There are a few seniors and the rest are juniors and sophmores and I just don't see them being any better then what they are a this year. They will be loosing some key players that will be hard to replace with there remaining bench. I think if SMCC dosnt make it this year it could be a while before it happens again.
Oh Flat Rock- Everyone has season like this. Hang in there and continue to fight. You never know when your season is going to be great. Milan was there once before to.
GI will continue to play as hard as
they can, but from now on, it'll be more of a growth period learning experience for the underclassmen. There were only six helmets on the sidelines last night. That was after bringing up 2 or 3 from JV. They had a few guys who are active in other sports join late to add some depth, and they have never played school ball. Seems to me that it's recruiting time on the island in preparation for next year. Maybe like a buy one get one free deal when signing up. A years supply of walleye chowder from Sharkey's. Or 1 month free of bridge tolls if you sign up your unsuspecting son.
Just talked football. That's all.
Have you ever looked at Huron's record prior to him getting there? Huron has always been bad at football and now they are respectable. The program produces good, hard working kids. The school is excited about football for the first time ever. Did you see the size of the crowd last week against Riverview? It was twice the size of what Milan/SMCC had last night.
What I see kids are great some of the best I seen and I have been involved in two of the best programs in the state. If you are happy with 3, 4, 5 and maybe 6 win seasons, then fine he should be your coach. To my knowlegde he has coached long enough to have already change that program. i just believe he could be doing a better job there with the kids and coaching. Never accept to be average always drive to win
What'd Stergalas say, Chris?
Flat Rock loses again, but honestly what can they do? They have a group of kids who go out and play their butts off, and coaches who really care about the program. It's almost impossible for Flat Rock to be a powerhouse in the league when they have a limited amount of kids with limited potential. The kids do bust their a%$, but you can only go so far with what they have. It's not their coaching, it's not their will, it's not their work ethic, it's the fact that there's not even 30 kids who come out year in and year out. You could put the coaching staff on a Milan or a CC, and they would have a 4-1 or 5-0 record. Plus, THE WHOLE ORGANIZATION is still young. Players, coaches, and hell, even parents. Give them a few years, and they will improve. I'm not saying they will win the league, or even contend, but I am saying that they will show strides of improvement in the right direction.
Huron won their 2 game of the year. I still believe the head coach is the major problem with this team. Yes Huron is scoring but now playing lower rank teams. With this coach Huron will never be great team.
Put your money where your mouth is. Call the AD and tell him you could do better. Last I checked this is a tough a$$ football league. I think if you ask the coaches none of them take Huron lightly. This program is on the verge of something great and with out him you might as well start over.
I think Robert works the spirit booth in between plays also. lol
We at Milan are so proud of him. He is definitely "Mr. Milan Football"
