  1. Yeah I just can't wait for another STRONG Milan playoff run-HA HA. Always such a GREAT TEAM but NEVER GOOD enough to beat anyone in the playoffs. Again Milan- BLAH BLAH BLAH

  2. Jefferson will be much improved next year. Only losing 6 starters and it will be 2nd year with the new coach. Keep talking about the same schools, thats fine.

  3. i'm saying riverview goes 7-2 or 6-3. they have there QB, center, fullback, wingback, TE, and wide receiver and they all will be on their 3rd year starting. and there 3rd string RB last year was averaging over 10 yards a carry with a solid 9-0 jv team coming up.

  4. JV ball doesn't determine varsity success. so stop going there. Experience on the other hand does help win games as does consistent play. It seems milan, gi, and smcc have been doing that. riverview is on its way. if e use the jv philosophy, riverview should win it all in 2014.jv was undefeated.
a note on the all league selections. some stats aren't talked about, like many personal fouls, offsides, fals starts, and missed blocks. those kill drives especially in critical times of the game. that can over shadow good play.

    1. Great is one of the most over-used words in sports. He has 5 playoff wins ever and 0 since he's been at Monroe. He wins when he has better players then everyone else and under achieves when the talent isn't there.

    1. I would say GI as long as Mitroka is healthy. We all saw how good they were with him and how meidiocre they were without him.

  5. SMCC loses a lot of talent. GI has good players but again its depth. Milan you just never know. That's a tough one-my choice GI.

  6. watch for faulkner from milan next year on the o and d line. missed half the season because of injury but performed well in the games he played in

  7. No wonder it seemed so watered down. Coaches trying to make seniors happy. Nothing wrong with that but it becomes a sympathetic vote. Not a debate of who is actually deserving amongst the other coaches.

  8. I believe there is another All Huron league team picked by the coaches. Don't know where that one is published though. Chris, just want to send thanks to you, for all your hard work on this blog. You have made my 2 years of being a grandparent of a player in this league a lot of knowledge. Good luck in the future, especially with adding the Downriver gang.

    1. ???? I read the all league selections inthe paper. There was no voting, 7 first team selections for Milan, 6 for CC, 5 for View, Etc…. Nothing by position, no POY ot COY. Where are yyou getting your info? Placing your own players on which ever team you choose is not Voting.

    2. I thought I was the Google search master, but could you please tell me in what paper you read the selections? I can't find it anywhere? Got a link? Thanks!

    3. It was in the Monroe Evning News last week. There was not an article, it was just a list on the page with all of the scores and standings.

  9. I believe there is another All Huron league team picked by the coaches. Don't know where that one is published though. 10. how do you have a lineman from Flat Rock over a kid from GI, view, or basically anywhere else????? seeing them play No one on their team stood out at all to be on here. Ratcilff if a exception. And Sandore or Samuels should've replaced lindamen

    1. Why should Lindeman be replaced? Cause he is a freshman? He had 1200 yards rushing. I don't know how many TD's he had. The kid stood out.

    2. Samuels had 1117 yards rushing and Sandore only had 1182 so why should they replace Lindeman? He clearly had over 1200 yards rushing. You can't overlook a player just because he's a freshman. I agree with Chris on his selections and I appreciate the time and effort he puts into this blog!

  11. So coaches no longer vote on all league. They just put their own kids on what team they want. That explains some the the selections on the all league stuff.

  12. One offensive lineman from Riverview? They were only the top rushing team in the league and probably top 10 in the state in rushing and scoring. Those backs must be real good to do it with only 1 O-lineman.

  13. Though I appreciate the fact you try to get as many kids involved as possible I guess I'm just old school and look at it as the highest honor to make it both ways. With that said you definitely do it better then the actual league does now. They've taken the voting out of it so the coaches just put their own kids on whatever team they want, and the number of first teamers is based on where you finish in the final standings. In my eyes some of them are glorified "coaches awards".

  14. WOW-congrats to the young men that made this list. Your hard work has paid off. Not everyone can make it to this list so take it for what it is worth. Good season and effort by all.

  15. Marko, Mitroka, Ziberi, Gilliam, and Camilleri all should be on this list. I understand, and agree, with your position on injuries but Marko,Ziberi and Camilleri werent injured. Pretty sure Camilleri as a junior has been a two year starter on the GI offensive line.

  16. Lots of good kids out there. TJ Cook, Carter Paddy, who opened many holes for Sandore. McCormick for sure. Not sure the sophmore was deserving from SMCC. His dad must take pics for you. lol. He had a few good games. Got a few you missed, maybe they will show up on D.

  17. Of course it's my Huron love but then again it could be that some coaches around the league believe Jacob Krug is the best lineman in the league. Tyler Olsen's numbers speak for themselves. Robinson's numbers are good enough for a mention.

Please note that I don't pick anyone both ways. They are either picked offense or defense. This actually gives more kids the opportunity to get picked.

Also, injuries play a huge role. If you missed a significant amount of time then other players need to be picked.

Maybe the GI players will make it as seniors. I'm sure you noticed it was senior heavy. It was almost all seniors because Sandore from Jefferson was right there at RB.

  18. Chris, with all the Huron kids mentioned you think they would have been better. Or is it your Huron love? Think you missed a few GI kids as well.

  19. #70 is Nathan Fleck a senior and #71 is Kyle Bausman a junior and he got honerable mention. Nathan Fleck is just fun to watch. One of the best football players in the league by far. And that's coming from a rival. Also Kyle Bausman will be a force to reckon with next year

  20. What about McCormick? I didn't really keep up with his stats, but I know that he was one of the better known names around the HL.

He was all-HL last year, now he's not even HM.. What's up with that?

Just a side comment; oh do I miss SITOFN..

  21. Of course I'm crazy. Have been my whole life. I work in the city and do this stupid blog. Pretty sure that makes me certifiable.

What juniors should have made the 1st team offense?

  22. Being a Milan fan, a big fan, and also being new, some of this kids I don't know their names, but positions help, the one person that stood out to me is a linebacker/fullback from Riverview, he was #45. I thought he was a pretty solid linebacker. Just an opinion.

  23. One of the most underrated players I think in the league that both the blog and Monroe News missed was #70 for CC. He beat everyone off the ball every snap when I watched him and got a good push. Him and #71 opened up the holes for Czarniowski to get all those yards. That's just my opinion but I think he was overlooked by many.

  24. Suggestion: if you want to make a case for a snubbed kid to make the team, go ahead and list the kid you'd like him to replace. It helps us have a conversation and keeps the All-HL team from ballooning to 40 players.
