Yes, Cortez Gray is a Linebacker. However, as the season goes along, he's been asked to play what appears to be a strong side linebacker role up on the line. I assume this is so he can get across the line and take on the blocking back before the running back can get a head of steam forward.
It's a shame, really, as he does a great job reading plays and flowing to the ball carrier from that MLB position, but the team needs more help at the point of attack. Gray is now making sacrifices on both sides of the ball (he finally got a carry of offense on a quick hitter). #8 deserves a lot of credit for accepting this shift in role for the team.

QB rating so far: (1)Huron Kid, (2)SMCC Kid, (3)GI Kid and yes I have seen all of them play this year.
After watching SMCC I would say they have the most talent this year. They were just as good as advertised this year. Always well coached and they have the team to go all the way and upset Ithica. Best of luck to them.

This kid is yet another player from the Monroe CYO(St. Charles) that did not automatically go to SMCC. Jefferson gets quite a bit of talent from that league.
Best passer in the league by far is mitroka. Playing in pain with a sprained ac joint from Huron game. and still airing it out. GI beat airport with only 17 players. smcc best coached. The play like a machine. Not the most talent. Just the most precise. Everyone does exactly their job. Huron has the most talent and depth this year.

Chris as far as the jefferson things we are just trying to stay positive with a 1-5 Team. I like this site in think its very entertaining. Our Offense finally did some good things and is showing a Little Promise. Its funny because we are a whooping post on here because we are struggling. I just hope everyone has fun with it because we will be heard next year. We have a ton of upside with talent to look forward to. Again I enjoy the site. Also think you give good insight on all games, good job. As far as the 130 Lb Safety Comment. That kid weights 145 and have no idea what that had to do with anything !!!

Most Jefferson folks believe the game last night was much closer than the score indicated. Our opinion. Some other folks pointed out why they thought that. No need to jump down their throat or anybody elses.
Whether you and bn are togehter or not, you do not hesitate to jump on people at times. It is your blog, you run it how you chose. I'm sure your sponsors to this sight would not want you telling people not to read.

First off, myself and BN are two different people. I graduated form FR and him CC. Secondly, I live in Huron and want them to win, but I only know a handful of the kids and mine doesn't play. I think most objective people would say I am fair. I make it a point to comment on things when I see something is wrong or misrepresented. I believe you misrepresented that entire game and I gave my opinion.
As for Jefferson people not reading the blog, please they are here everyday along with 2000 others who read last night. If you don't want my opinion, don't read.

We have a nice senior laden this year. However our JV is a very solid 5-1. We have some nice players coming up and some great juniors who just don't see the field.
Next season will be contested without a doubt.

The last ten years milan has only beaten smcc a few times so hold to last two yrs.
Didn't make it for the beer. Got to tell you, Huron is better than last year, but overrated. Jefferson actually could have won this game. Huron had 1 sustained drive all night. fumbled like 5 times, lost it twice. Had a punt blocked. They scored on a few big plays and a kick return.
Jefferson got a TD called back and Huron stopped them on 4th and goal. A play here or there and this would have been an entirely different game. Huron defense not good. Can see how CC got 40. Jefferson easily could have had 28

Trace might of had 40 yards on 10 carries. The game plan was not executed obviously. I failed to mention that SMCC defense is pretty solid as well. This game was won at the line. Each team had 1 penalty. Milan thru a pick at the 3 trying to go deep. That was the only turn over. It was a great learning experience. I'm not one to put down teams or trash talk. Milan is trying to build a program and they have the coaching to do it. In my book Hoskins and crew are great coaches with limited depth and talent. It is hard to win with 7 seniors and dressing 27. Not making excuses, we got whooped. But we are young and they will continue to play and build. My son is only a sophomore. Most of the kids are juniors. How many sophomore players does SMCC have? When you are a young team and you lose all you can do is improve and we will. You can see that in flat rock. They are getting better as well. Games like tonight keep you humble, they also keep you hungry. Going undefeated 2 years in a row makes the losses even tougher when everyone expects you to win. I just look at it as a lesson learned and do all you can to play the next game. Again good luck SMCC with the rest of your season. And if someone could share some of the all time records with these schools it would be nice. I only have a 3 year history with Milan so I don't know. #9 dad

#9 dad a lot of Milan's problems is caused by them dropping JV football two years ago and pushing a lot of then sophomores now seniors away. It was a shady move and they are getting what comes to them. I hear ypsilanti Lincoln is doing well. You may want to send him there.

The smcc jv team is extremely good. Their only loss was first game at Tecumseh and they had a second half collapse.. Besides that their undefeated overall and in the Huron league

I know it's not Huron League, but my heart is broken for that poor kid from Ypsi Lincoln that was electrocuted, and especially his family. As a father I hope that they can fugure out how to move on.
