Riverview @ Huron

Huron (8-1) is coming off of  a 34-8 victory over Annapolis while Riverview (6-3) crushed Summit Academy 41-0. Huron won the earlier contest this year 24-20 in week five.

Offensively Riverview will rely on seniors Drew Kroll, Nolan Glime and Adam Borgert. Junior RB Eric Gant needs to have a big game. Riverview ran the ball early on in the week five match up only to see it disappear in the second half. The Riverview defense is led by senior Steve Pinkava and Junior LB Tyler Chase.

The  Huron offense is powered by a physical offensive line that includes seniors Jon Krug, Dustin Vukas and TE Jamison Cobb. Junior QB Matt Hartwick leads the Chief ground game. Defensively Huron is led by seniors Chase McKay, Justin Carey and Logan Ritchie.

Huron has won six straight games while Riverview has lost three of five after winning the first four games of the season. This game is going to be decided by QB play and how the coaching staffs adjust to each other based on the week five result. Prediction: Huron 24 Riverview 20

  1. This game was fun to watch. Riverview hung in and the final score does not tell the whole story. This game was much closer than it appears. I am very proud of the effort that both teams put in during that crazy weather. Good Luck to Huron as they advance. Go Pirates!!

  2. I didn't see last year's game I only this year's and I saw another comment from a commentator saying "Riverview had 2 tds called back playing huron" and now seeing a comment about the refs being on Hurons side.. just erked me a bit lol it was generally at those 2 or one person who commented that.

  3. Rainy, wet and cold. It favors the big uglies, defenses and a running game. The weather is going to slow down any attempt at a passing game, and for that reason, I think Huron takes an advantage into this evenings contest.

Bring your coffee and hot chocolates ladies…

  4. YOU Riverview fans. Whatchu mean YOU Riverview fans? Lol. Come on KC, one person makes a comment.

They were talking about last year anyway. In 35 years of going high school games, I can't remember a worse crew than last year's (2013) Huron vs Riverview game, at Huron, which Riverview won. It was the craziest game I've ever seen as far as exciting game action and completely incompetent officiating. They were more interested in what was going on on the sidelines than the game. A complete joke of a crew. They weren't trying to screw Riverview or Huron, they were just buffoons in general.

  5. I think people are talking about the REFS from last year, not the last game. This was the game Riverview played at Huron when the REFS kept calling penalties on Riverview and their coach got a penalty called on him too.

  6. Refs are assigned by a league assignor at the varsity level. So it doesn't matter whose home game it is. As far as the first game refs did not play a factor in the outcome of that game.

  7. You Riverview fans and the complaining of the refs…. it was you homecoming and your HOME GAME. Quit being poor sports. I hope Huron plays the cleanest game and not a single flag is thrown and they wreck you in the process. Good day! 🙂

  8. Should be a very lively crowd as Huron hosts a playoff game for the first time ever. I expect Riverview to give Huron all they can handle, in the end Hartwick's playmaking will be the deciding factor. Huron 28 Riverview 21. EM

  9. Chris you're trending away from you picking against the chiefs in tight games..hope this isn't bad luck….luck might be what the chiefs need..im saying 40-37 Chiefs as they win like the did in 2013…

  10. ROFL!!! Chris, the same pick as the score earlier in the season?? If Huron shores up the DB's a little, they were able to shut the running game down in week 5. Now, shut down the passing game that plagued them at the end of that game and the party is over for the view. That said, I think beating a team the second time is very difficult to do and Huron is in for a big test on Friday. I hope they aren't resting on their laurels after two relatively easy weeks at the end of the season. Time to buckle those helmets and break out the brass ones as Riverview comes to town…

    Go Chiefs!
