Today was the first day of practice for teams around the league and state of Michigan. Rain is in the forecast this afternoon which would mark the third straight season that rain has interfered with the 1st practice day.

Delusions of grandeur! Have one successful season and all of your previous history is permanently erased! The big difference is that colleges have to recruit, and public high schools cannot.(Please refrain from all of your SMCC jokes, we've heard them). So, the "what have you done for me lately" effect is staring every college in the face. If this is now the way to escape your former legacy, Go Flat Rock! And by what you are saying, even if you have losing seasons for the majority of 50+ years, they don't count as having a "losing" legacy.I'm happy that NB Huron had a great season last year, but in the eyes of the other Huron League schools, until you can string together at least 10 successful years together, you are still like the Chicago Cubs. This is NB Huron's opportunity to build on last year's success. Good Luck Chiefs!
CM,
You are spot on! That is exactly what I was thinking. The same thing goes for college. Look at the University of Texas, recruits are picking TCU and Baylor over them because of a 3 or 4 year window.
In HS Football for a player "history" is only the last 4-5 years. To incoming Freshman Huron has always been good, Flat Rock has never won a game and so on. These kids do not care what happened back in our day when the top of the league was CC, View and Jefferson, or even a little older when Flat Rock was winning state championships. Or a little while before that when the league had Tecumseh and the Ann Arbor and Ypsi area schools. These kids do not understand a playoff system when a team would go 9-0 and still not make the playoffs. So for a kid talking about a legacy of last year, Huron has always been a decent football school. He really does not care about the previous 50+ years.

I love how everyone points out Jefferson's past 7-8 years like people from there or F.R don't realize they have struggled. Jefferson has reasons to believe & hope that we will be @ least competitive and hopefully be around 500. If not they will not be a Push over I can promise that so I don't think anyone is joking just being Optimistic. Don't see nothing wrong with that. But the way things have been how can you blame people for getting digs in
The term legacy is not normally used referring to a 1 year period.. but give the kid a break.. he is a kid. He is simply saying Huron wants to build on last year's success.

Like I said.
I believe that is what most teams do these days.
Back in the day at FR we used to go to football camp for the week. We would leave Sunday and come back Friday or Saturday. It was total football immersion. They stopped doing that my senior year.
Grosse Ile does one long practice with a break in the middle. Curious what the other teams in HL do pre season wise for practice.
I see the DB's are out early. A legacy is something that is handed down from one period of time to another period of time. The 2014 season for Huron can be considered a legacy, especially for it's current seniors. Most of them only know one year on varsity.
One successful season does not make a legacy. Huron should want to get as far away from their legacy as possible.
Jefferson fans are very loyal. Hampton transferred to Trenton. Fryer was talking about what Huron did last season as the legacy. I believe they can start hitting Friday. Two days just in helmets, they add shoulder pads for two days, then they can hit Friday. The non- league schedules are interesting. Riverview's opener is a joke, but their closer will be a very tough game. FR got their schedule right. Avondale will be a tough opener for Huron, Summit is in Huron's back yard. Milan's is a tough go. GI's opener is okay but the closer is easy. Jefferson's is A toss up in either game. Airport's has become a tradition while SMCC's is tough as hell.
Huron is a football joke two good years.a blind squirrel finds a but bump breaks Huron …
Chris, when can the teams start hitting?
Chris, Did #5 for FR transfer?

A Huron player was quoted in the paper as saying: "We have to live up to the legacy"
Chris, what is he talking about?

Jefferson has not had a winning season in 7 years. I hope people are joking thinking they'll be above 500 lol
I think everyone other than GI is glad Mitroka is gone. Kid was the real deal
Best team in county for 30 years before that.. Last two years…not good ..they're on way back it starts this year
Chris. Soooooo glad you brought the blog back. It's fun and more so hilarious to read all the comments. Could you start a subject about each of the non conference schedules?
Glad to see NB at least playing one good non conference game. Riverview playing two class C opponents???? Really???
Jefferson is very stoppable, except for their VERY loyal bloggers. If you just read Jefferson blogs, you might think they haven't had a losing season, ever.
lookout for the kull/fiala combo at jefferson, could be unstoppable
