  1. I always love that statement you probably never played football so you dont know what your talking about. It Always the same person who played football and talk like they know everything about sports they haven't played. I LOVE THAT !!!

  2. Not sure what the league record for picks is but Windham in 2014 and Burger in 2015 both probably came very close

  3. Webster and Seau would have never been the people they were without football. It is a shame of what it did to them physically. Unfortunately that is a possibility for any of us who decide on a dangerous living. Football and sports in general teach young people many things they will use the rest of their lives, so I would say it is for life. Just my opinion. We all have our takes on it. I bet Mr Lindeman's sons will be much better young men for having played sports than not having played at all.

This is a football blog, right. If you don't like football, why are you even on here?

    1. I love football and agree with all the things it teaches, but have perspective, it is NOT life. You are missing my point, a league championship game or league playoff is over the top. Play your schedule and if two or three teams tie at the top, accept it.

    2. We will accept it. That's football, that's life. Get it? Accepting it is not an issue, I just don't like it. There are no co-state champions. There are no co-regional or co-district, so why a co-league?
If it happens then it will be accepted, just not liked.

    3. I got it in your earlier posts. I still don't think you understand. No doubt football enhances ones life and contributes to ones character, but if you are blessed with all granddaughters and they love volleyball, you might be tempted to say volleyball is life.

  4. 1:31-Thank You!! Ask Marcus Dupree if "football is life". No one that has played in the Huron League comes close to his talent.

  5. Football is a great sport that teaches some excellent values, but is NOT life. Life needs to go on even if you are one of the best that has ever played. Ask the Webster or Seau family if they think football is life.

    1. Your missing the point. No, football is not life itself, it's what the game teaches you. Plus it's an opinion. You get out of life what you put in it. Same with football. Thus the saying football is life.

  6. Playing football is awesome. The ultimate team sport.

I get chills everytime I hear "Boys of Fall" by Kenny Chesney.

Proud to say both my sons played football.

    Sarcasm is annoying on here.

  7. Taking sports seriously, trying your hardest, teamwork, making it your life for a certain period in your life, is what its all about. Whether its football or another sport, those are lessons that will last a lifetime. I have no doubt my sons are better people for participating in football and all the other sports they played. I'm sure that's why most of us do it. A select few will make money at is someday, but ALL will be better for having played.

Football and sports are life !!

  8. 6:06-I would really hope that they get the point. Just play your schedule, hopefully your team makes the STATE PLAYOFFS and your team goes as far as they can-7:12.

  9. Thanks 7:12 for adding to my sarcasm :). Do you think the playoff people will finally get the point or should we further explain it in a safe space?

  10. I like your idea 6:06. To make some people happy we can do it like basketball, everyone makes the tournament and we play it all out again. But let's have everyone get a little trophy st the end so later in life they can talk about their high school football career and how they won a trophy.

    1. Out side of the box- Well now, because a kid, or a person, or a dad takes football, or anything they do in life serious your going to assume that? My point is, why do it if your not going to give it your all? I'm sure you have told your kid that. It applies in life. So, 7:12, you do not understand nor will you ever understand the statement football is life.

  11. I hope AP and CC win out so there is a 3 way tie. Then we can argue about having Huron league playoff series with the Top 4 teams just like the NCAA. To avoid messing with the State playoffs, we can hold the Semi final on Monday, then the Championship on Wedensday (at Saline).

  12. I played football in the mid 80's. I am now 51 and I still remember every game and where we finished in the league. High School sports sticks with you. All the blood, sweat, and tears are a part of your fiber. That's what make it so great!!

  13. You know you're partially right 1221 high school football provides some of my greatest hs memories. For you to judge people on here just shows lack of maturity and intelligence. I'm sure you never played football and if you did, I'm sure you rarely got of the bench. Bravo 1221

    1. Football is life. Nothing wrong with remembering some glory days. 1221 you should sit down, drink a beer, pop in an old video of your glory days. You just might smile.

  14. Again, at the end of the day it really doesn't matter. It's just high school football. I guess your just one of those people that live your life in the past. There are stages in life that you just move on from things that you thought were important at one time. You must like the song "Glory Days" by Bruce. If that makes your life fulfilled-great.

  15. But, if Michigan played Nebraska during the season and beat them, and they still made them co champions, Michigan fans would be pissed.

  16. If you want to play the 4-4, you better make some adjustments…….. GI hasn't made one i since Bodner got here. The no huddle offense is cute, but if you can't play good D, it doesn't matter. Just an observer

  17. Something that goes unnoticed is that the Milan Freshman has 6 interceptions this year. He shut down the GI receivers especially #9 who is a really good player. What's the league record for pics? Anyone know

    1. Not really, #9 was targeted 5 times in the first half and caught 4. Then Gi's qb got injured so 9 played qb for the rest of the game.

  18. I agree with #9 dad, league champions are important. Fans on this blog are always referring to the championship years of their programs. If your program beats another team and has to share a championship with them, it doesn't seem right. Just think the league needs to revise their bylaws regarding this.

  19. It sounds like to many Dad's on here are living through their kids high school sports career to give meaning to their lives. G

  20. If you believe Milan is so good this year then WHY are you so worried about a co-championship? If it happens so what, get over it you would still be a league champion. What if your boys played in a league championship game and this time GI beats you, then your boys would have nothing. It's just high school football. Do you remember who won the league title in 1977 without looking it up-NO-so it just really doesn't matter. That's why there are sometimes co-champions.

    1. If you played in 1977, and you won the league title, YOU would remember. That's the point. Why play the playoffs then, or have a state champion? Because it matters. Why even play the game if winning a title at any stage does not matter? Why even blog about it? Come on people, it matters. It matters to the kids, it matters to the schools, and 20 years from now I for one know that my family and especially my son, will remember every game he played in. We still talk about his games against Thurston, Melvin dale, even his 4th grade team that played in the Mud Bowl back in Tennessee. In my opinion there should only be 1 champion. But that's just me.

    2. I do believe Milan will run the table. Two teams that tie for league, should go to head to head though. You should acknowledge the game that was played between the two teams. Just an independent observer though, no dog in the fight.

  21. I think league titles are important. When the season starts, you set standards, goals. 1st goal is to win the league. 2nd goal win the district. 3rd region, and finally the state. Grant most teams/schools will take making it to the district championship is a huge deal and are very happy with that. Setting the bar high, improve your team, get better and keep raising the bar higher.
Milan controls the league championship and if they lose a game then in my opinion a share of the title is a loss. There should be a tie breaker. Head to head should apply.
I just think people forget how good Milan is when they are on..I still think people believe that they are not that good, which judging from 1 non league game and 5 league games they have beat some very good teams. I think Milan can win outside the league. Guess we will find out.

  22. A Huron league title is in huron league title whether you tie for it or you win it out right. I'm just not sure why it really matters. Ask any Michigan fan if they won the 1997 national championship in football. The answer is yes. Now ask any Nebraska fan if they won the 1997 national championship in football. They will say yes. Now ask anybody else who knows college football who won the 1997 national championship. They will say that Michigan and Nebraska tied for the national championship. They both have a trophy, they both believe they won the national championship and they are both right.

I I guess in the grand scheme of things the head-to-head would mean something if there was another game to be played for the champion. I hope this all makes sense. We are going on speculation that the big reds would actually lose a game this Huron League season.

  23. It matters because of how hard the kids work and head to head should always be the tiebreaker. In any sport and at any level. I don't care if Milan or GI wins as I don't have a dog in the fight, but if there is a tie, the head to head win means more than anything else. I'm sure most would agree. I wonder if any other leagues do it like that? Most that I'm familiar it's head to head.

    1. I've been following this blog for several years now, and of all the comments I've read, that one surprises me the most!

    1. Flat Rock Dad,

That was the best run I have ever seen in a high school football game, and I may be the biggest fan of Lindeman on this board (aside from #9 Dad of course). I swear, I thought for a moment I was watching a John Riggins run from a 1980's Washington game. Such a good game, however my Rams had no answer for him in the final quarter. Good luck the rest of the year, and I'm pulling for you to get to 6 wins.

  24. That is for the playoffs. The MHSAA has no determination in Huron League by-laws. As A matter of fact, Huron league was around long before the MHSAA. With that said, I am don't know what the actual by-law is.

  25. Hey Chris, according to MHSAA, tiebreakers are determined as follows:

    1. Head to head

    2. Playoff point totals ( Milan currently has 93 and GI has 74 )

Just wondering if you know something different from their info?

  26. Boy,what SMCC wouldn't do to have last year's O-line back for this year's game against Milan. If CC's line can play at least half as good as last year's team, they've got a shot.

  27. It's really sad they have that rule in place. Almost every sport at every level a tiebreaker goes to head to head competition. The league should really think about changing that one.

  28. If Milan and GI both end up at 6-1 in league play wouldn't the Huron League Championship come down to head to head winner? I could see if a 3rd team was 6-1.

  29. I would say you're accurate Chris. Milan is the top dog until someone knocks them off. Milan is very dangerous on field turf. I wish GI had played them on grass, however, it's hard to compete when you turn the ball over 7 times.

    1. If I may interject an unbiased opinion. Milan was just a better team last night. Turnovers are part of a game. Mylan had something to do with those turnovers. Lindemans long run was one of the best I've ever seen.

  30. I like that. Hoping for a little magic next week so SMCC beats Milan. As well as GI winning out. That way we'll end up with a well deserved shared league title between two 8-1 teams Grosse Ile and Milan. GI and Milan Co-Champions!!!!!
