Flat Rock (2-5) is coming off of a 34-14 loss to Riverview while Huron (5-2) beat Jefferson 30-15. The Chief’s won last seasons game 45-20. The Rams lead the all-time series 36-15.
The Rams were run over by a hungry Riverview squad last week and may have been blinded by the homecoming festivities. The Rams need to refocus as they travel to their arch rival who they haven’t beaten since the 2012 season.
The Chief’s just keep plugging along. No superstars here, but junior RB Reed Smith and senior WR Andrew Miller have stepped up lately along with the defense which has been solid most of the year.
This should be a extremely competitive game. On paper Huron seems to have more weapons and to be the deeper team, but rivalries bring out the best in the underdog. Huron fell asleep early last year as the Rams jumped out to a 2 TD lead. The Chiefs can not afford to do that this season. Pick: Huron 24 Flat Rock 14

I think the Yellow Jackets bought the old FR field. Unfortunately, FRHS doesn't have a say in the Yellow Jackets program.
Please read what I suggested everyone. I simply stated that Flat Rock needs to make sure that they have enough of their own kids on the yellow jackets in order to make it worthwhile. If half the team isnt from flat rock then it should be adjusted. If that has been the case then it seems to be working fairly well. Let's face it though flat rock's depth, although better is not where it should be, that would come from more kids playing football.
All you have to do is look at the sidelines to know things have changed in FR football! That comes from the top and Reaume and staff are changing the culture. Ask any of the players and they will tell you how great they think their coaches are! I can't wait to see what next year brings for the Rams!!!! I wouldn't change a thing about the 6 years my son spent as a Yellow Jacket! He learned to love the game and plays at a much higher level now because of those years!
Hurons #12 also is a product of the HRYJ program. Some of the kids on the Flat Rock team were his teammates. Forget the year but they won the Peanut Bowl. #12 Uncle
Yellow Jackets is an awesome program that has helped the FR program if anything. Getting rid of it would hurt it. 8 of the starters this year for FR are former HRYJ players. Hats off to Coach Reaume and his staff for working with these boys and getting them motivated to win.
I am not a coach and never plan to be but if you have all the answers on how to fix a program why don't you put your name in or go volunteer to make it right. These coaches coach for the love of the game and want to be out their with your child. Not every program is going to be top notch like everyone wants it to be. These kids put in a lot of time and effort and they still are over matched. So instead of putting down all the coaches why don't u say thank you
Resume and his staff is not the problem what so ever. They are doing one hell of a job. Numbers are up and the attitude has started to change. They will never have a hand on the yellow jackets as it pulls from to many other school districts.

Fair points, but it isn't like Reaume hasn't worked under other coaches. I'm willing to bet if Reaume sticks with it and stays for the long haul that he will consistently win. He is a very good coach.
Let's look at the example that you used of the 2012 team that was Coach O's first year. Was there talent? There was some talent. Depth was an issue and that probably resulted in a loss or two. Walentoski from Ida was going to most likely out coach anybody that FR would have hired that year. Also, Oestrike was mentored by Coach P. This is exactly what you said they need to do with Coach Reaume.
My next question would be, what experienced coach are you going to get? Carlson and Huron are both looking for head coaches and quite frankly those schools are better jobs right now.
Reaume is your guy. I have heard way too many great things about his personality, demeanor, work ethic and commitment. He just must be given time. I would suggest a few things from an AD perspective. I don't know the contract issues or anything with the yellow jackets, but FR needs to get more control of the yellow jackets and ensure FR kids are more a part of it. You have the leverage, they use the old football field. Twenty kids from FR schools on each team or you lose practice field. If not, they need to start their own youth football program that produces footballers. The more kids exposed to football at an early age, the more kids that will participate down the road. You get a committed parent to start it.
Who is Coach P?
My answer is bring in an experienced HC as mentioned above. A coach that has won and rebuilt a program. Reaume is a teacher have to believe he is going to be there the next 15 years let him learn from a vet. Then he rolls in at the end for the last 8-10 years.
The reality is this after next year FR will be bad, very bad like they were 3 years ago. Reaume is going to get burned out and resign. NeXtr year with a load of talent you bring in a guy (Redmond)that can win, which that group can. They win , numbers go up and he helps develop the middle school which looks like it's being ignored. You had coach p there when these juniors were in 7th grade he got them excited about football. They had a decent season and the numbers are up.
Reaume is doing a great job with his knowledge and staff, but all you're going to get is 4-5 , 5-4 at best until an experienced guy comes in. Let that staff learn.
Look at the group with blosser, they had talent coach o comes in and they go 4-5. He made young coaching mistakes that P, Redmond or an experienced coach would not have made. That's what you're going to get next year.

You are delusional. Coach P was was old and senile, ran the saame plays over and over, and refused to listen to anyone. There was a reason why most of the time he only had 5 seniors… Horrible coach that most kids refused to play for.

Numbers are up on var but I went to the middle school game and counted 26 kids. 7-8th. I know some play yellow jackets but I see a downfall at FR after next year. When is enough enough? Ok let's be happy about moral victories and being competitive. In life if you're competitive and try hard but don't win you don't get a pay check.
Next year is their year. I don't see much on JV. I do feel likee those kids are trying but FR has always fought they've just usually been undersized.
Nobody is happy about moral victories and being competitive, but the reality is that the program has improved tremendously. Do you have a son in the program? I do, and can honestly say that Reaume works as hard as any coach in this league, and has done quite a bit to begin getting this program on track. Don't forget that he also coached at Southgate before coaching at Flat Rock, and was the coach that Coach O preferred to replace him. He also has coached basketball at the school at the 9-10th grade level, and I believe his teams have one loss in two years, so he knows how to coach/motivate. Also, Coach Z played tight end at Western Michigan, so I am guessing he knows a little bit about the game, too. I would like my son to experience winning as much as anyone, and can assure you that he puts the time in to be successful, however I've seen first hand the demeanor of some coaches in this league, (Onside kicking up three scores with 3 minutes left in the game, or going for two in a similar situation) and honestly I'm not a fan of the message they are teaching. Another thing, Reaume just brought a group of seniors to the middle school to talk to the kids and encourage them, plus they do off-season camps with this age group as well (A dedicated junior program has also been discussed but this take time). I could not ask for more from Reaume and his staff. Frankly, you sound like an AP fan or a Jefferson fan from last year always thinking that it is the coach's fault. None of us have a crystal ball, so I couldn't tell you the future and if FR will be a winner, but I am confident in saying that if Reaume can't win here, nobody can. My son will be gone, but in my opinion Reaume is not the problem, but is the answer.
I think FR's new Head Coach is very good and will get better with time, just like most coaches would. This will be a competitive game Friday.

FR will be ready to play. It's going to take years to change the culture at FR , sadly they don't benefit from playing in the HL. Give buck 5-6 years aND see what he can do.
thats probably the dumbest thing that has ever been posted on the blog. I agree on the part about them being disappointing, but the flat rock coaching staff is just fine. Our kids have been in position to win but just haven't executed. Playoff talk prolly was a year early. No excuse for them not to go to the playoffs next year.
Two weeks ago I heard FR playoff talk. Let's be real. FR is no different than theyve been in the past. The only change is a little more talent. I would have said yes the are turning the Corner had they beat Jeff. Or Riverview but its the same stuff. Actually I think they're getting worse this year. Airport and FR are my biggest disappointments thus far. Both have horrific line play and Riverview gets a pass with aLloyd the injuries they've had. FR needs to find an experienced coach like Mensing, Redmond or Kent Sikora get him in the building and keep buck and z areally great motivators , the kids like theme but they're in over their heads.
Airport needs to send their staff packing. Van Wash switch with bass baseball and football. Or hire Redmond there. These young coaches need to learn from older successful guys.
My son is a senior on Flat Rock. Do I wish they could have won against Jefferson or Riverview so that this game was more meaningful? Of course. I have no explanation for last week against Riverview, other than giving credit to the Bucs and admitting it was an off game for the Rams, however comparing my son's freshman year to now (This is no indictment on Coach O who I think had little talent and few experienced football players) the improvement is very easy to see. No more running clocks, and competitive for long stretches in the majority of their games. Coach Reaume, Coach Z, and the rest of the staff, are building a foundation. Let's remember, they just started a football tech P.E. class this year, which has emphasized year round conditioning/lifting. Also, where other program's numbers are down, Flat Rock's were up, which speaks volumes about how the students feel about these coaches. Two years ago, I wasn't sure if there would be enough kids to finish the year, and now there are nearly 30 kids. The coaching staff needs to be given time, and in my opinion, are exactly what Flat Rock needs. Programs do not turn around overnight. While I wish my son was able to experience more success, I do believe it will come in the future. More importantly, my son has learned so much beyond football from this staff. I am certain he will have a strong bond with many of these coaches for years to come, and I am proud that he has had the privledge of playing for them.
FR has a fresh new coach on the sidelines and has done nothing shy of giving these boys the momentum and spark they need to compete. You can't expect a first year coach to come into a broken program and have it playoff capable in one single season. Don't know what ball you've been watching the last decade. But FR is much improved from years past and even tho the scoreboard isn't showing a W for FR, doesn't mean their opponent hasn't had to work and hustle to get theirs. Lay off them. They're trying. If you think you can do a better job, then visit their athletic director and fill out an application. 🙄
