Coaches’ Thoughts: “It is really hard to say for me being so new.  Right now it is all a work in progress and we are steadily improving.  However, the short window of time to improve your team in two a days is a concern.  We are a new program and it is a lot to get down in 18 days, but the kids are working hard and giving it their all for each other.  Our start to our schedule is very strong and is a big concern for a new coach striving for a buy in from the team.  Utica Stevenson week one is one of the biggest schools in the state and comes out of a terrific league.  They have  some terrific players and last year got a new coach who did a great job.  Week two Flushing brings in a very strong program again.  We just have to keep working and keep getting better every day.  Our guys know what we are up against and have been working urgently.  Regarding the league I would expect Saline and Monroe back up at the top again and many of the other programs look to be improved as well.  Our schedule is a great challenge.

FNV Outlook: As Coach mentioned above, everything stems on how quickly the players are grasping the new system and the many changes a new coach will bring in. Coach Vicars has many games under his belt and is obviously aware of the challenge that can bring. Game 1 vs SHS, will tell us a lot. Bedford doesn’t return a ton but what they do return is outstanding. A few here at FNV are very high on the Kicking Mules in 2019. A big year may be in store.

Gary’s Pick: 7-2
