  1. State is suffering from an awful 2012 and 2013 recruiting class. They are a young team but you have to trust Mark Dantonios track record, they will be fine. Losing an NFL quarterback and 1st round Tackle doesn't help. I would expect the Spartans to bounce back in 2017.

  2. State had their highest recruiting class in history in 2016. They were 3rd in the B1G. They have some sort of bad karma going this season. There is talent still left there. They had 32 players returning who had started at some point prior to this year. I think injuries have taken a toll, pride has gotten in the way (didn't like them allowing cameras into training camp very undantonio like), and quite frankly I think coaching has become a bit suspect. I thought State looked very good at times against Wisconsin. You give up a 66 yard fumble recovery for a TD and a bad snap on a punt that leads to a 1 yard scoring drive and the wheels fall off. Blow a game to Indiana that you led in and now players are second guessing. I always thought the Spartans have lived on the good side of karma since the 7-6 season, maybe it is finally catching up with them.

I would love the see State offer PJ Fleck $1 million per to come in as the OC or maybe replace Dantonio if he retires. I really think his health is an issue. He looks gray and just doesn't seem right.

  3. It was a nice 7-8 year run for MSU. The writing is on the wall now that Harbaugh is here.

State has fallen off in recruiting quite a bit behind OSU and Michigan.

Without looking I'm guessing state is behind about 7 B1G teams in recruiting. Tough to compete that way.

  4. I totally agree with you!!! I am a Michigan fan that is sitting over here thinking, no matter how good we are this year and not so good state is, that when these 2 teams come together they play their best!!! So I do know that anything can happen Saturday!!!!

  5. Still sorting out the blog name and stuff.

I use to root for UM second, I stopped doing that when UM fan and former players had an excuse for the failures of the last 7 to 10 years. I guess they never really owned that they just weren't that good or that State was better than them. I guess I've just always been a realist with my team. I think Dantonio is a great coach, he's just having a bad year this year, for whatever reason. At the beginning of the year I thought this would be his last season. I just don't think he looks well right now . I pretty much watched every Michigan State game for the last 30 to 40 years, but with kids and being in A.D. it's easier to just not watch the team this year because I have other stuff going on. When state gets beat by Michigan on Saturday, and I hope that doesn't happen, I will simply say that Michigan is better rather than make excuses. Not trying to sound all high and mighty or that I'm a better person than others, that is just how I feel about my football team and Michigan these days. I will say, I won a lot of bets over the last eight years because people's pride got in the way.
