Grosse Ile defensive tackle Dominic Trombley has been named the Huron League Blog Defensive Player of the Year.
The 6-2, 235 lb senior led the Huron League Co-Champions in tackles with nearly 11 tackles per game.
Trombley recorded 8 sacks and had numerous tackles for loss as the Red Devils finished 8-2 and qualified for the playoffs.
Trombley was a 3 year, two-way starter for Grosse Ile and was brought up to the varsity in week 8 of his freshman year.
Others considered for the post season award were; Mike Furtney (Milan), Justin LaPlante (SMCC), Nik Becker (Huron), Tristen Hines (Milan) and Nick Humphrey (Jefferson).
Grosse Ile had a better team than Jefferson. I guess it's never enough for some people.
Yea, he sure looked a "step above" Trombley and the devils when he scored so often, and stopped so many touchdowns from happening.
42-6 Red Devils, Just saying.

He was a great player. However, he had no effect on the Milan game in which GI was dominated as Milan didn't have to run a single play outside the tackles. GI only scored in the late 4th as Milan put their back ups in. The kid for Jefferson was hands down the best player in the league.

He had fifteen tackles and two sacks, but thanks for the reminder.

Did you watch the highlight video for Humphrey? I was fortunate enough to see GI and Jefferson three times each. Trombley was a great player, but Humphrey was a step above.
Look Chris I get it, spread the love. I did watch the highlights and yes Trombley dropped Humphry for multiple losses. I also heard from offensive coordinators who planned games around Trombley and still had no luck. Humphry has been named and he is a fine player. Congrats..

I have an idea Chris!! Don't be predictable. Enough with the same ole same ole. Offensive stats are only as good as the men in the trenches. Why not name MVP a linemen? Take Trombley for instance, he dominated both sides of the ball. Teams avoided him like the plague and on offense is motor was outstanding accounting for yards downfield. Look at the film. Trombley knew what every player on the field was doing., he knew the game better than anyone!!! Most dominate player of the year bar none!!
Looks like a quality young man. Good luck in college.
Congrats !!!
Great job Dom
Top-notch player and a fine young man. Always been proud of you on the field and off.

Not a bad choice. I thought it would have been #47 from SMCC. He was pretty good too. Congrats to Mr. Trombley, well deserved.
I love u Dom
One of the best defensive player I saw all season definitely the best d lineman … He was also pretty good on the offensive side of things. Very deserving, very good football player
From a casual observer
I got a chance to meet Dominic this year cant say that I ever got a chance to see him play, but as far as representing The Red Devils and his ability to articulate himself as a young adult, This kid seems top notch as far as his character goes Congrats Dominic and Good luck in the future
He was very good. Impressive player. Could be a very good D-3 kid if he wants to continue playing. Congrats

I would have to say this is some of Coach Bodner's finest work
Id have to say DC Geiger more then coach Bodner
Maybe so.
Trombley Smash
Trombley was better as a junior
Considering he statistically improved every aspect of his game, I would say you are wrong in your assessment. However, he was great his junior season.

Congrats Dominic, you deserve it!

Nice pick Chris. Trombley is well deserving for this honor.
