We will have a new feature this summer. We will be doing player profiles. We will do four or five athletes from each school that we cover. We will start in early June and run through the end of July. Look for a different player each day as we lead up to the start of summer practice.

Weaker than you being afraid to attach a name?
Not posting my comments?? WOW!! That is weak.
FYI, all players who are profiled were first approved by their coaches.
Your making me scratch mine too. You must of had a different childhood than me. I grew up in the 70's in Waltz and our whole life was high school sports. I remember the first time I saw Rosie Barnes play hoop for the undefeated Monroe Trojans or the first time I saw Steve Timm from Airport at church after he made all-state in basketball. I was like 7 or 8 years old. I was in awe of my brothers undefeated 20-0 basketball team from Huron in 1977. I was 11 years old and couldn't wait to talk to the guys after the game. I still remember Christmas of 1976 when they shoveled off the back yard court and they let me play because they needed a player. Every little kid wanted Dave Stefan's autograph after they won States in football back in 1976. Maybe life was simpler then. I don't know. I guess my family couldn't afford to go see college or pro teams because I saw the Tigers and Lions once each prior to 1980.
I suppose I look on the brighter side of things.
CS…You had a high school hero? Seriously? The kid two houses down from you? An older brother or cousin? You are making my scratch my head here my man.
GH…A chance to be a positive influence? A chance yes…But not every high school player were taught to…when you knock them down…help them up…so you can knock them down again. Like we were taught.
I would also add that it gives the player a chance to be a positive influence on a child. Nothing wrong with that.
Why? I don't see anything wrong with that. There is nothing more pure than a young elementary kid asking one of his local high school heroes for an autograph. I know I did that type of stuff as a kid.
When 5th graders start asking these high schoolers for autographs…it's time to stop.
We are asking for pictures.
So you are asking some kids questions

So what you are saying is that PARENTS will be upset if Little Johnny doesn't get interviewed?
I think it is a great idea guys. Let's get to know the kids. Will there be pictures?
We plan to keep things very generic. I have identified players from each team and just have some basic questions. One thing you will find is we have focused on some lineman. They never get any press. We also aren't providing any stats. II wonder do kids get jealous when they see all the skill people in the newspaper with their names listed?
How are you gonna get the information about the athletes? Interview them?
Be very careful who & how you profile them. It may go to their heads and cause jealousy amongst their teammates
Very interesting. Cant wait to see how it turns out.
