Gary and I have decided to choose our own Quality Inn in Monroe Quality Performer of the Week. If you would like to nominate a player, please send an email to us at fridaynightvictors@gmail.com.

We would like you to vote on the polls to the left though. There are four really big games for seven area teams this week that have different implications. Six of those teams will play in head to head competition against another area team.

The games are as follows:

Riverview @ Huron: 1st place in the Huron League will be on the line when the Bucs travel to New Boston.

Bedford @ Monroe: The two biggest schools in Monroe County will battle in this important SEC Red match up.

Hudson @ Ida: A huge LCAA match up as the Division 7 # 3 ranked Tigers travel to Ida.

Airport @ SMCC: Important game between Huron League foes with playoff implications hanging in the balance.

  1. Oh boy. SMCC wins a few games, now they are world beaters. Heard they got a couple kids back from injury, probably has made some difference. Airport is very angry at this point, much more talent than their record shows. If they get it together, they will put a pounding down on SMCC.

We will see who wants it more. Airport has to get the lead and take SMCC out of there eat the clock run game. Shift the line around like other bloggers have said. this will confuse the blockers.

    Airport 21- SMCC 18

  2. @6:12, while Riverview beat SMCC and Airport by about the same difference; both SMCC and Airport are not the same teams they were earlier in the season. SMCC won their last two games and Airport lost their last two games. Football is a game of momentum and SMCC has it. Just helping you take EVERYTHING into account. Would love to chat with you, but I have to go water the grass at Navarre.

  3. To the guy that says Airport won't stop SMCC running the T because they couldn't stop Riverview, your not taking everything into account. Riverview has better backs than SMCC, Riverview has a better running QB than SMCC and Riverview has a MUCH BETTER OLINE than SMCC.

  4. SMCC has given 2 teams their only loss of the year, one of them being a defending state champ who’s outscored opponents 233-18 the last 5 weeks… falcons win 27-7

  5. 626 is exactly right. The could’ve games are the games that are close either way. I don’t think any team on the blog won their games in the fashion of AP. Last second FG and last second drives for 2 of the 3 wins. They are very lucky they aren’t 1-5. Good
For them getting a few breaks this year. They got none the past few seasons.

  6. As poor as Hiron played against SMCC they still had the lead in the 4th quarter of that game. I'm sure many adjustments are going to be made for Friday nights game against a tough Riverview team. I'd put the punter on the CHOO CHOO train and bring him over. Your going to need him.

  7. Airport is not a Good team. We've been hearing for years about how good they were going to be when they made it to varsity. Well they are there now and they are going to finish in 6th place.

  8. Troll Man, talking about would've could've stuff only applies to close games. So no, everybody would not be 0-6 because there have been some big blow outs (especially by Riverview). SMCC could be 4-2 at best as they got blown out twice. At worst they are 3-3 because their wins were not close. Airport could be at best 4-2, but at worst 0-6 (which they are not, but could be). See how this definition of "could" is working? Finally, Huron could be at best 5-1 (which they are), but at worst 3-3. I hope this helps your understanding for future trolling.

Keep on trolling! Good natured bantering is always fun.

  9. Then everybody could be 0-6, SMCC could be 6-0, Airport could be 6-0, Huron could be 1-5, anybody could be anything. Saying Airport could've lost all of those games is the same as saying they could've beat Huron and Riverview. Come on!!!

    The Troll

  10. What he is saying the good teams you've played whooped you and the bad teams let you win the game on last plays of games you could easily be 0-6

  11. Riverview runs the T to near perfection. Huron couldn't stop SMCC so what does everyone think will happen against Riverview? I'm thinking at least 7 TD's. This will be the same outcome of the Airport/Riverview game. Riverview's punter might as well sit in the stands with his buddies!!

  12. @10:40
Last time I checked I don’t see anyone undefeated in the League. All teams have the same goal at this point. Airports best 2 way player was also not playing against Flat Rock. But then again this blog wouldn’t be what it is without the digs at Airport so carry on. I’m still wishing the Jets success this Friday.

  13. Flat Rock will always be Flat Rock-next year they're terrible. Enjoy 2nd place this year. 2nd place will always be the first loser!!

  14. I don't care what anybody says Airport lost to Huron, lost to Riverview by 3 TD's, Flat Rock was just a butt whooping we took even though FR's best 2 way player didn't play-Tayeb. You can say all you want-these boys can very easily lose the next 3 games.

    See how silly that sounds?

  15. I don't care what anybody says. Airport had Huron beat, gave Riverview a game until the turnover in the 4th quarter that let Riverview go up 2 scores, Flat Rock was just a bad game for Airport in which their best 2 way player didn't play-Mike Foor. You can all say what you want-these boys can very easily win the next 3 games.

  16. Yes I think it's going to be a great game at Navarre field. Little peculiar Airport only scoring 7 last week but I think Airport will be ready to go vs CC.

  17. ‘@8:35pm
I’m rooting for Airport because my kid plays on that team, my kid works his ass off for this team and he feels that they can give it a great shot. So in answer to your question-I’m quite sure there are many out there that feel that the kids can do it. So good luck to you and your preferred team this Friday but I’ll choose to hype my son up and go watch him give it his all.

  18. I think it would be ideal for the league if Airport wins and runs the table. That would get them in the playoffs at 6-3 and SMCC would be able to score a Class C spot at 5-4. For some reason the SMCC team that had every reason to lose confidence… hasn't. The Airport team that seemingly had all the confidence in the world… has lost it.

    SMCC 30 – Airport 21

Between Huron and Riverview, my gut says Riverview runs away with this game. I would not be surprised to see a slugfest and Huron coming out on top, simply because the View struggles mightily against the pass and Huron can spread the field and make Riverview cover too many parts of the field.

    Riverview 37 – Huron 34

Monroe vs. Bedford is a no-brainer. Until Monroe shows a little heart the Mules will continue to whip the Trojans.

    Bedford 45 – Monroe 20

I think Ida can surprise Hudson this weekend. Hudson has to be the favorites, but the Blue Streaks play some stellar defense when they are locked in. If they have a good week of practice they win have a great shot.

    Ida 29 – Hudson 27

    Bonus…

Carlson would beat Riverview H2H by a score something like 36-22. Jack wouldn't give up that much on the ground, but Riverview would punch in a couple of scores on the ground.

Carlson is the team that should be garnering the View "State Aspirations" Love. That's one talent rich, well coached team. A bunch of great kids that were waiting for a confident, strong coach.

Flat Rock will roll Summit 38-7 in the playoffs if they meet nad then be pummeled in the second round by a talent rich team.

  19. The D at AP gave up 533 yards and 7 rushing TD’s against the View. Unless my math is wrong, that’s the opposite of knowing how to stop the T.

  20. The record of the 3 teams AP has beaten this season is a combined 4-14. CC wins by 2 td’s. I don’t get how anyone can label AP a playoff contender w that resume and giving up 35 points a game during the easier part of their schedule.

  21. Riverview is not even thinking about GI. The next game is the most important game. Doesn't matter who the opponent is.
    Go Bucs

  22. I think Riverview beats Huron and Redford Union. Grosse Ile will ruin Riverview's homecoming. Grosse Ile will be one of those 5-4 teams. 5 Huron league teams could make the playoffs.

  23. Whoa! Easy there, let's enjoy our successes after the occur. Bucs need to be concerned about one thing and one thing only. That is a very good Huron team. It's easy to lose focus when you're worried about matchups on Thanksgiving weekend. If View comes out and lays an egg like the did in the first half of the FR game, we will be right back to bashing the T and blaming the personnel decisions. I think it's been since 2004 since RV has won the HL so this Friday night is the biggest game for these young men in over 13 years. I get that this is a blog and "what ifs" spark a lot of excitement, but let's join together bucnation and share a piece of humble pie and be proud of a magical season up to this point.

  24. Muskegon 52 Riverview 17

    Calpreps

I do think view can win a Regional and even get to FF. If things stay as they are. Musky or EGR await on the other side. Those 2 are on another level. But. In a one game winner take all at FF. Who knows. Anything can happen.

View has much to do prior to all that though.

  25. @9:37 don't know if you seen Riverview play more than 1 game but they have quitely been passing the ball they even have a couple of passes that went for a touchdown.

  26. Not looking good for Flat Rock in D4, they would be better off in 3 without Divine Child and Rouge there. Win the next three and get those home games(Summit) and anything can happen!

  27. SMCC and Airport is a huge game for both teams. I truly don't know who to pick ? Does CC get the nod cuz of home field?

  28. Sorry to say View will not get past Carlson in the playoffs. You have to be able to throw the ball around a little if you want to go past 2nd round. You will see.

  29. Muskegon is a top program in the state, and they would compete very well on the national level. As much as I’d love to see a Huron league team win at ford field, it won’t be in division 3.

  30. Riverview fits the mold of a State Championship Team. I've watched the games at Ford Field for quite awhile now, and the T teams that have won a Championship, mirror Riverviews type of play. If my team isn't able to do it, I'm rooting for Riverview to pull it off. Makes our League look good! They just need to avoid a stinker like the Flat Rock game.

    – Milan Fan

  31. AP should be able to stop the SMCC T he coached with cc for years saw it every day in practice Duffey will come with a game plan to shove the T up he knows it inside n out AP win 21-7

  32. Does Airport Alum = SMCC Dad? Good intentions to motivate the boys from getting big heads, but gotta work on that delivery. Too obvious.

  33. Yeah apparently Airport Alum didn't know SMCC gave Huron it's only loss. While I would love to see Airport win 35-13, I highly doubt it. Airport's best chance IMO is to win a close low scoring game. Defense gonna have to step up this week. EM

  34. MaxPreps has Airport and SMCC ranked pretty closely. That tall grass at Navarre is probably being watered right now so you might want to bring some defense with all that speed.

  35. I watched Smcc and Flat Rock.. Flat Rock dominated Smcc. Smcc was lucky against Huron.. Huron would beat them 9 out of 10 times. Airport is in every game with chances to win.. Smcc has no speed.. Airport 35 Smcc 13.. Airport Alum..

  36. MaxPreps rankings (Michigan)
    Bedford 59
    Riverview 88
    Huron 109
    Carlson 137
    Milan 158
    Flat Rock 176
    Monroe 183
    Ida 194
    SMCC 209
    Airport 245
    Dundee 300
    Grosse Ile 301
    Jefferson 388
    Erie Mason 510

  37. at 12:31, SMCC and Airport have one common opponent where the results have differed and that is Huron. Taking all common opponents PF vs PA SMCC scored 60-65 while Airport scored 79-111. If you think SMCC is not that good, taking off your homer glasses, Airport must be terrible.

Now football really doesn't work that way, that's why they play the games. I think it will be a close game, but SMCC is at home and wins this one in the trenches plus one home run from SMCC. So I see SMCC winning by two TD's.

Since I'm posting, I think Airport beats Milan the next week and I hope they beat Tecumseh ending the season with a winning record.

  38. Airport and Smcc.. Airport wins this one.. Smcc not that good. Really haven't beat anybody either.. AP 35 Smcc 13. Airport Alum..
