  1. Milan Fan. Bridgeports D, especially the front 7 manhandled Milan's line and blockers. Nobody said anything about Bridgeports offense. Most athletic and physical defense that Milan has faced in along time. You don't know sports.

P.S. Milan is going to put the CC and the rest of the HL on notice this Friday Night.

  2. Don't get sold on the Milan Dads saying Bridegport was a world beater. I watched both the Chandler park game and the Milan game. I think both of those teams are very similar. Great athletes, poor O-lines which botH Milan and SMCC took advantage of. I think both Chandler park in Bridgeport will make the playoffs with five or six wins, but neither of them are great teams.

Milan and SMCC should be a great game. Two coaches that do things the right way. Coach Kipf and Hoskns respect each other and I love that regardless of who wins, they started the tradition of both teams coming together after the game to pray. Both teams and players respect each other and that's why they have been the class of the league over the last 10 years or so. This will be a great game. Two different styles that are both effective and well coached squads.

    Milan Fan

  3. Lots of great games. All the teams that won, did what they had to do in week 1.
As far you being surprised by how close the CC game was, CP will go 6-3 at worst this year. Keep an eye on them. Quality team.

  4. I just can’t wait for week 2. Lots of great games. Looking forward to GI and Airport, FR and Riverview and Milan’s and SMCC! To keep things in perspective Rouge absolutely got dominated, and I bet they will be waiting for Riverview in round 1 of the playoffs.

Riverview looked good, but how good is Romulus?

Flat Rock beat a big school, but that school went O-9 last year

GI beat Richard, but Richards d a D7 team and not a real traditional power

Airport played a good team… probably too good of a team. “Who scheduled that game”

Milan played well, but how good is Bridgeport?

Smcc snuck out a win which surprised me.

Huron and Jefferson will improve but how much?

  5. Actually I won’t post your comment, but to address 8:01 and 8:10. I let them through because anyone who knows football knows that is complete hogwash. Last years team should have won at least 8 games games. That wasn’t on the kids. That was one guy. As for them returning to where they were, no way. Too many kids playing football over there. Will there be some growing pains? Sure. You know sometimes I let comments throug because it proves a point the opposite way of it’s intention. I thought those comments did just that.

  6. Thanks for chiming in Josh. I’m trying to figure out where anyone said someone sucks. I have moderated a lot out, but things do accidentally get through. When people point them out, I remove them. I still struggle with the comment section, but me and Gary feel the pros far out weigh the cons. Maybe that is just us, but he or I have never had anyone (other than a coach or two) tell us that they don’t like the blog. In fact we get daily compliments , especially game night when we’re at a game. Thanks again for chiming in.

  7. Chris you think Whiteford could've possibly beaten Riverview ? Your nuts, nuts …you think if Riverviews team last year was in D8 they wouldn't have beaten the hell out of them teams just like Whiteford did ? Your watching a D8 team destroy teams there size and your gonna make an argument that Whiteford could've beaten Riverview? Don't say your a fan of Riverview last year , and Gary yank his privledges for one week…Whiteford was really really good last year, could've beaten D7 champ but stop right there…stop , stop , stop…omg

  8. Chris, Whiteford lost there whole offensive line except one person and return some nice backs, great program should be very proud and I'm happy for them, tout there record all you want Chris you should listen to the one guy that said keep it in perspective. If they go 9-0 and get bumped up to D7 ? Great , let's see what happens …But stop comparing Whiteford to teams in the Huron League, just bigger and more numbers than a d8…stop Shultzy, stop ✋

  9. I don't come on this blog often cuz I heard it's toxic, I decided to check it out cuz my cousin had a good game Friday and I wanted to see what people thought and it proved peoples point…my god, these kids are 16 or 17 and you just trash this team or that, they read it too and don't need to see some 56 year old thinks they "suck"…grow up, u to 18 year olds who chime in….make this blog worth while don't ruin it w ur garbage, u wanna talk s*** then play and do it on the field like I did but Chris and Gary put this together and do a good job. Don't ruin it with the nonsense….my only wish is Chris rejected more comments for being utterly ridiculous or whatever…ok now "anonymous" grill me….but honestly just watch em, kids surprise u all the time. Nobody saw GI or the view making their runs in 04 and 02.

Btw…im josh baker I went to airport and graduated in 07….just let them play

  10. I’m not from Whiteford. I’m a CC guy and a fan of the game. Ask Airport what they thought about Whiteford in scrimmages. Airport may not be CC, Milan or Riverview but they can still judge a good football team. And which Huron League team is loaded with D1 talent? Not one. A state championship team, regardless of Division would compete in the HL. The HL is a good league but it is possible that other teams/leagues/divisions compete with our best. The HL isn’t bringing state titles home every year. Rather, 1 or 2 tops in a decade. And maybe you should’ve informed Buster Douglas not to fight Iron Mike if he didn’t have a chance.

  11. Well I know it is very early in the season but we might just get the chance to see SMCC & Whiteford play head to head this year in the playoffs if they are both in D7.

  12. Thank god games are decided on the field and not by many of you clones. Play the game and let the gridiron decide who falls where. What you look like on paper means little, talk is cheap, and doing all the comparison bologna is not worth the brain power used to think it up. Save your energy for Friday night lights. May the best teams win on the proving grounds.

  13. I went to Jefferson and now live in Whitefield school district…whiteford does have some players without a doubt but I think if you just see them on tv and they play other guys that size they look fine, but I'm telling you they are really really really small, the either boys are stud athletes but my goodness they're small, their line looks big but really it's just an average HL line, same thing goes for d3 to d1….whiteford would beat the bottom o the league fairly easy, couple 2,3 tds or so….but the top, the cc Milan riverviews of the league, wouldn't really be much of a contest, it's just size and numbers, riverviews too big, Milan is big and faster than them and cc is well too much coaching, technique size experience tradition pride, you name it….whiteford can beat anyone in region not named cc Riverview Milan Monroe ida

  14. The only one "getting ahead of their skis" is the D8 school that plays a class D schedule and now thinks they're ready to fight Tyson.

  15. They have divisions for a reason guys. Whiteford isn't Deporres. They aren't loaded with D1 talent. Tough? Sure. Huron League tough? Maybe. Probably. Survive a Huron League D3 schedule? Not a chance.

  16. Agree with Chris. No way Whiteford is manhandled by Riverview last year. Could Riverview have beaten them? Yes. Manhandle? No. Whiteford was and appears again to be legit. Whiteford is not a U.P. 8 man team. Don’t get too ahead of your ski’s on being a bigger school.

  17. There's the Napolean complex again. You're selling but nobody's buying. That's 61-13 against small school opponents. Again, keep it in perspective. It is not a regular season slate, week in and week out, against schools 3 times tbeir size. Please just stop. Much respect to Whiteford but Dude, stop.

  18. Sorry Chris, but No. Not trashing on Whiteford. I love good teams. Just keep it perspective. There is no way a D8 team with really ONE great season is gonna hang week in and week out with teams 3 times their size. It's just not going to happen. Put Whiteford in the HL and they're gonna win some games no doubt. But you're forgetting, the Huron League hits. That's what the Downriver league, the old Mega League, Western Wayne even the lauded SEC finds out when they play a Huron League team. They hit hard. You take a D8 team and put them against these teams every week and they're gonna get beat up. Huron League is no slouch. Give a little respect where respect is due.

  19. Whiteford, maybe top 3 or 4 in the Huron League. Whiteford's had what, maybe 1 or 2 good seasons and now they're world beaters? Come on.

They would have been manhandled by Riverview last year.

Does not mean they're not a great team. Numbers mean a lot. This year they could definitely hang but they are not playing teams 3 times their enrollment every week. A lot of these Whiteford fans need to understand that and ground themselves in reality a little bit more.

D8 Champs. That is amazing. Be proud. Hang your banner. But keep it in perspective.

  20. If airport a d3 team just can't play Monroe bc they're d1 and just way too big and fast, how would d8 Whitefield fair in the HL? Opinions? I've had this talk with other people and think they'd be in the middle beat most of the league struggle with cc Milan riverview.

  21. CC won 37-30 against Chandler Park. Defense brought the qb down 5 times, with one to end the game. It was a cool ending.

  22. So what you're saying is that Milan should score 60 or 70 each week against these weak Huron League defenses. Should be fun to watch. If any HL team holds Milan to less than 34 points then they should all get D1 scholarships.

  23. I would guess the HL teams would accept that challenge. Sometimes a team can seem to have a great defense when they have one or two “beasts” or great athletes, but never underestimate great team defense – which I believe there will be a few teams in the HL that will boast good defensive squads.

  24. Milan will not face anyone with a defense like Bridgeports in the HL. Milan is very fast and athletic on both sides of the ball and will count on big plays and a quick strike offense to win their games. Last night Bridgeport out athlete Milan and took Milan's quick strike offense out to lunch. There is no denying that. Milan won last night game behind a power running game(Aeschbacker) and big play TD's sponsored by Hines.

  25. Flat rock will not be an easy game.. all we have heard Since last year is that Riverview didn’t take flat rock serious they weren’t ready if they were playing later in the year they would’ve killed them. Please to anyone watch that game again. Flat rock didn’t win because of a fluke game or a bunch of turnovers. They physically match up and out toughed Riverview. They have not just the best coach in the Huron league, the best coach on the planet earth maybe even the galaxy.

  26. I saw all 3 teams play. View. CC. Milan. Either in person or on video. No back handed comment here. In order to beat View, you will have to play very well. Wood to me is the Pirates ace in the hole. If he plays well( which is the norm) View will be the champ. Now that’s not to put pressure on him or to say if View loses it’s his fault. But I like their team and he is a big reason why.

Milan has the weapons to beat anyone. Bridgeport did make a surge but it was vs the 2’s for the most part. Bridgeport was very athletic and would beat Romulus and give CP a good game.

CC did well to get out of their with a win. Period. Defense adjusted and shut CP out in the 2nd half.

I can definitely see a scenario where these 3 teams all beat each other.

The jury is still out on FR. GI and Airport. Any of those could climb into the top tier. All will be tough outs.

The League is good this year folks. Looking forward to see how it all unfolds.

  27. Wow Milan scored 34 against such an impressive Bridgeport defense. If no Huron League defense is that good, we should expect Milan to put up at least 60 or 70 points every week.

  28. PW destroyed Ithaca last night night. 33-0 or something like that. I wonder what Whiteford fans wish for as far as what division. The easier road D8 or the much tougher D7.

  29. The theme is Riverview dominated? Really? Other than my comment that we scored at will, the theme is the exact opposite. Go back and read the comments. In fact the theme is Romulus is horrible and Bridgeport has a better defense than any HL team. View is solid… but….(insert back handed compliment). Reality is View is 1-0 along with Milan,SMCC, FR, and GI who are all fighting for 6 wins. Hoping we can string together a few more mediocre wins by way of other teams really sucking.

  30. Not a Whiteford guy, but wow. I thought that game was supposed to be a close one? Looks like the Bobcats are ready for a repeat run.

  31. Man oh man. I'm being told to "wait and see." Meanwhile I said good luck to all this year. No one in Riverview thinks it will be as easy this year to win the league. No ones saying it will be. I'm not, Adam's not, blackbeards not… Let's talk about how good riverview is after week 4. They play Milan and CC back to back with FR as well

  32. Be careful people. Romulus is in maybe the worst class B league in the state. And they play Summit Academy In week 9.

I see 5 for sure wins. The 6th will be tough. However, they will get trounced in week 10.

  33. The only thing the stud from Bridgeport did in the game when it was still a game was intercept a pass and run it back for a touchdown. He was held in check by the Milan D when it counted. The second half of the game took forever! All in all the Milan boys showed up ready to play and did what they needed to do to win.

  34. I know the theme is Riverview domination. I am sure Riverview will be very solid this year. But anyone at the game realize how bad Romulus was. Couldn’t get lined up right, unorganized, and clueless how to defend the T. This was a very bad Romulus team that many not win a game this year. I am not a coach or even close , but I could tell Romulus was not lined up right 1/2 the time. Good oerfyby Riverview and a bad performance by Romulus.

  35. People like to hate on the defending champion. It’s been the same way with CC for years. I think the view is capable. But I don’t think it will come as easy as last year, if it comes at all. It’s aslo only week 1 which is always something to keep in mind.

  36. Soooo, 10:25 thinks I'm making excuses while 11:01 wanted me to emphasize that the backups were the ones giving up points. Can't please everyone.

I completely agree with 12:11. #55 was a beast. There were certainly some pads cracking tonight. Bridgeport's D has size, speed, and could get downhill in a hurry. They limited Milan's big play ability. I'm guessing most of Milan's scoring drives hit double digits for number of plays.

Bridgeport is going to be a problem for the rest of their opponents on the schedule. While there are certainly things to clean up going forward, Milan should feel really good about the win.

  37. Did C.C. stay healthy last night? I saw 3-4 guys go down. I assume some were cramps. Hopefully the other guys are ok

  38. So…2nd string isn’t supposed to play? All of 1st string is to play the entire game exhausted and risk injury? 1st string will graduate…how will 2nd string learn on the sideline? In the end, Milan won. They are a strong team. Next. #onohmilan

  39. So…2nd string isn’t supposed to play? All of 1st string is to play the entire game exhausted and risk injury? 1st string will graduate…how will 2nd string learn on the sideline? In the end, Milan won. They are a strong team. Next. #onohmilan 🏈

  40. Milan was up 34-6 with 8 minutes left. They stayed healthy tonight and Coach Hoskins took out the 1’s to keep it that way. The D-1 receiver from Bridgeport scores two 60-70 yd TD’s and then a fade while Milan was trying to run out the clock. The kid was pretty special but Milan shit him down and didn’t give up a TD with their first team. The 6 pts scores in the first half was on an interception return by the same kid.

I think Milan learned their lesson though, but Hoskins was right to try to keep the guys healthy and play the back ups. The kid scoring was just a legit D-1 type of guy. The game was never close. Milan dominated in every aspect.

I think Milan, SMCC, and Riverview will battle for this thing but the end with AP, GI, and FR in the second tier.

    Milan Dad

  41. I believe the overall talent is up in the HL from last year (but I admittedly could be wrong since I’ve literally only watched one team through one week) so if teams beat our boys from Riverview I don’t believe it’s because we’ve stepped back but they’ve stepped up. Interesting that for one team to be good all others must suck.

If we (or any team) looks the same in week 4 or certainly week 8 as they do in week 1 then shame on the coaches. The team that played for the View tonight will not be the same in a few weeks or even next week. It should be a great year for the HL and I for one am happy that so many fans who are ready to put the Bucs in the underdog spot again. These boys hear it and they love it.

  42. Mason Qb is nice but can't do it alone. Mason is better than last year but it doesn't necessarily mean they will win more games this year..going in the right direction, next 2 years will be better for sure …keep plugging away boys ..

  43. Ok Black Beard..whatever you say and makes you feel better …you know I'm very very very right with what I said ..

  44. I have to agree with 12:11 AM post. Bridgeports defense was impressive. I not trying to start $#!t but I do not think Milan will face a defense like that in the HL.

  45. QB Real deal at Mason?? He threw 3 INTs.. he's fun to watch and is a nice athlete but the Summerfield QB is better IMO

  46. In all of my years of watching Milan HS football I have never watched them play against a defense like Bridgeports. They were big, fast, physical, athletic and down rite mean. MLB #55 for Bridgeport was a man child. Man could these guys hit and 11:01pm, yes Milan's 2md and 3rd string gave up the points.

  47. After game 1, it would sound on here that Riverview struggled and is very beatable. I would agree that Romulus is probably not a top tier team but only a deeply worried opponent would suggest that they are very very very (infinity) worse than last year’s team. Apparently, whoever View plays now, wouldn’t win a game in the HL. Not true. They will have to play very well to beat teams in the HL but please, stop with the “they are so beatable” stuff. They have deserved to be a top ranked team in the HL and in the area. They scored at will tonight with 5 different backs behind a very capable line that will continue to have to prove their worth compared to last year. Defenses will have plenty to plan for. In time, we will find out but for week 1 it was an impressive showing. They haven’t forgotten what happened at home vs FR last year and I’m sure the Flat Rock coaches aren’t giving them the week off so they can spend time not worrying. And by the way Gary, by your last comment, sounds like the night is not over for you young man. Lol.

  48. Erie Mason has improved tremendously from last season. They still will struggle vs some teams. They just don’t have the number of players to compete with some teams. They may only win 1 game again, but they will at least be in games in the 4th quarter. They still are relatively young and inexperienced compared to other teams. They are headed in the right direction.

  49. Until the final 7 minutes, Milan dominated on both sides of the ball. The 2's gave up a TD but several starters were on the field to closw it out. Bridgeport has some really good skill players that Milan kept in check until the end
Focus issues will be addressed by next Friday.

  50. No way , Romulus is terrible, and I mean terrible…terrible…Riverview did what they were supposed to do, very beatable, very beatable…not worried about them …

  51. Summerfield fan here and what a game out in petersburg. Hard fought on both sides. Proud of our bulldogs playing hard every play and making the plays when needed. the hype is real about the qb at mason. That kid is no joke. The LCAA should be on notice.

  52. be careful what you wish for Huron, looks like you just got it! I hope for the kids sake that they figure it out because those seniors have been through enough already

  53. Seen Riverview tonight, very competitive team for the Huron League, last years team is very very very much better than this years…I don't know it Romulus would win a game in the Huron League this year…hey got to talk to coach Loyd Car , great man

  54. Growing pains is an understatement. Huron looked unprepared tonight offensively against a very average Thurston team. Coaches better step it up or the Chiefs might not win a game

  55. Bridgeport continues to air it out effectively. Milan 34, Bridgeport 28. 45.8 seconds to go. Bridgeport botches the onside kick, however, giving Milan the easy possession. It's victory formation time, finally.

  56. With Milan's offense clearly in clock-killing mode, Bridgeport's aerial offense strikes again. A Bearcat receiver won a contested ball in traffic and took it to the house. Milan 34, Bridgeport 22. 3:26 to go.

  57. Backups were in by middle of 3rd quarter for View this would of been 10 times worse. Gary I saw you at the game, was gonna say hello but you seemed busy.
Go Bucs, this year is gonna be another fun one. Good luck everyone on the blog.

  58. Milan is using the passing game to give Bridgeport a different look on this drive. A nice catch-and-run by Hines followed by a long pass to Hines on a blown coverage, then a beautiful one-handed grab by Evan Furtney, capped off by a touchdown catch by Hines. Milan leads 34 to 6.

  59. Calm down 9:01, I doubt Romulus would win 2 games in the Huron League. Impressive showing by Riverview but let's pump the brakes a bit. EM

  60. Bridgeport has sparked their offense by moving their quarterback to slot receiver. He has been very effective on this current drive with short catch and runs. Milan intercepts the ball in the end zone on fourth down, however, to end the drive.

  61. Hines slips into the end zone right before the end of the first half. That's the third quarterback keeper touchdown of the night. Shovel pass to Aeschbacher for the two-point conversion. Milan leads 21 to 6 at halftime.

  62. On 3rd and 20, Bridgeport returns a desperate Milan heave to the house for their first score of the season. The two-point conversion try is no good. Milan's lead is reduced to 13 to 6. 5:13 to go in the half.

  63. DJ Jones with the quarterback keeper for Milan's second touchdown.

Key play of the drive: Hunter Aeshbacher breaks a tackle on a throwback screen, turning what would have been fourth-and-long into a first down conversion.

    Milan now leads 13-0.

  64. Milan's D shuts down Bridgeport's opening drive right away, getting the ball back in great field position. Milan marched the ball down the field with a lot of Aeschbacher runs. Tristen Hines sneaks in behind center to cap the drive with an 18-yard keeper. 7-0 Milan.

  65. The fans got some bonus football up here at Bridgeport tonight, as Milan's JV team fell to Bridgeport in a matinee matchup by the score of 18 to 14.

Bridgeport's offense connected on two long pass plays on the deciding drive late in the game.

    Now for the main event!
