Week 9 Our Thoughts, Not Yours

By Chris Schultz and Frank Vajcner

Each week, Chris and Frank will give their thoughts on our blog teams. For the most part, one will generally keep things on the rails, while the other goes a little off the wall.

Airport

Frank: Jets just ran out of fuel after a resurgent Weeks 5-8.

Chris: Nothing wrong with losing to the better team

Bedford

Frank: Tough loss for the Mules, but happy for my friends who are St. Francis alums who have a football program back on the map in Ohio.

Chris: What a difference a year makes

Carlson

Frank: How far can the Marauders go this postseason?

Chris: This may be the best Marauder team ever.

Dundee

Frank: It’s on to hoops and wrestling.

Chris: I wonder why Dundee can’t get football right?

Erie Mason

Frank: The Eagles will win more than once next season.

Chris: At least the Owosso game was at home.

Flat Rock

Frank: How many touchdown passes has Graham Junge not thrown to a Szalay brother this season?

Chris: I believe that number is 10.

Grosse Ile

Frank: The bad news: this was the worst scoring total for a nine-game season. The good news: it doesn’t set the all-time record. The better news: the Devils ended with a win.

Chris: I told ya’ll GI would win this game.

Huron

Frank: Chiefs delivered a KO to Henry Ford’s playoff hopes.

Chris: Did all but six of the Trojan fans get lost on the way to New Boston?

Ida

Frank: Streaks will be a team to watch (until they run into Lumen Christi).

Chris: I believe Dean Thomas and Jackson Wertenberger would start for any team in the state.

Jefferson

Frank: I’m just going to keep my comments to myself.

Chris: I’m glad I left at halftime on Friday because it was too cold.

Milan:

Frank: Jesse Hoskins always gets the most out of his guys. Hopefully he will have more next season.

Chris: Nice to see the Big Reds end the season with a victory

Monroe

Frank: Monroe was young this year. Better days will come.

Chris: I sure hope better days will come

Riverview

Frank: Pirates will likely have to be road warriors these playoffs.

Chris: Any way you slice it, playing in the Huron League hurts the Pirates playoff point totals every year.

SMCC

Frank: First undefeated regular season 33 years in the making is nice, but as I said last week, there are bigger fish to fry.

Chris: Yes, I know it’s early, but is this the best Falcon team ever?

Summerfield

Frank: The Bulldogs just scored again (yes, I know I said that last week).

Chris: Is this the best Bulldog team in 40 some years or was the 2010 team better?

Whiteford

Frank: The million-dollar question is when will the Bobcats have to go to the friendly confines?

Chris: Rarely a bad idea to pick the Bobcats

Bonus:

Frank: Got to give a tip of the hat to the the Advanced Tech Lakers on qualifying for the playoffs for the first time in a nine-game season.

Chris: It’s about time the Lakers make the playoffs, I was getting ready to say” Fire the Athletic Director”.

Frank: Make sure you listen to Bring The Wood. Also make sure to rate, review, and subscribe.

Chris: I’m sure I am biased, but it is good stuff.

Frank: Regular season is over. For those who will be playing next week, everyone is essentially 0-0.

Chris: Playoffs?

Frank: I have to get used to calling Bally Sports Detroit “Fanduel Sports Detroit.”

Chris: Is that the channel that carries the Tigers, Red Wings and Pistons games?

Frank: Speaking of that, the selection show will be on Fanduel Sports Detroit Sunday at 4:30 pm.

Chris: How many teams have watch parties?

Frank: For those who have weddings during football season, don’t get upset if people sneak off to watch games.

Chris: Been there, done that.

Frank: We are on to Tennessee (Chris, I know it’s at home).

Chris: I’ll be watching the Liverpool/Arsenal game

  1. Let’s see if this team can finish the race. I like their chances but there is going to be that one game when things arent clicking .Let’s see if they can get it done, then we can talk about it. My vote is for the 2014 team, they went to Luman Christi and beat them.

  2. Best of all time? Relax. Talent wise absolutely not, if we’re going strictly off record that’s another conversation.

  3. This 2024 Falcon team is no doubt the best one of all time. Their speed has never been seen before, the line is no doubt the biggest and baddest, and that that QB can sling it like no other. Not to mention that Tight End is the best pass catcher to don the Green and Gold

      1. Gary, if you guys auctioned off the ability to ‘out’ some of the commenters on here, I think it would be a huge money-maker. I would be in for that!

        1. Make the first bid!!

If we made people sign in and actually use their real name, we would have 3 commenters.
Sometimes to bring something good to the people, you have to forge through the bad.

          1. Haha. Totally get that it’s not realistic. I’ve just thought about it a few times after some doozies on here. It would be like pulling the mask off of the wrestler Mr. X. What fun is that?

            Go Falcons!

    1. Still a lot of Football to Play

I love the enthusiasm but let’s pump the brakes. Ultimately, you are what your record says you are. Let’s have this conversation if/when we run the table.

      Go Falcons!

    2. There were some great teams of the early 80’s
Giarmo- Haddix- 2 D1 players- great supporting cast-
      Martin- Johnston-Mahalak brothers-Eby brothers-Marty Langton-Drake-Little- Southworth-

  4. I’ll comment about Jefferson on behalf of Gary. Here you go! “Let’s all be thankful that Jefferson is not playing this week”. I’m a Jefferson alumni from late 90’s and have been following high school football in the Huron League since graduation. Jefferson is lacking true leadership. Those players do not have good mentors to look up to.
