The Riverview Pirates continued their unbeaten streak with a resounding 51-21 victory over the Huron Chiefs on Friday night. Riverview’s explosive offense and stifling defense proved too much for the Chiefs, as the Pirates built an insurmountable 51-0 lead by halftime.
Riverview quarterback Lucas Thompson led the charge, rushing for 83 yards, including a 38-yard touchdown, and completing his only pass attempt for 7 yards. Thompson also made his presence felt on defense with an interception, all in the first half.
Ian Adams was unstoppable, racking up 101 yards on just 5 carries, scoring twice on runs of 14 and 63 yards. Nathan Pinkava added 50 yards on 3 carries, scoring twice (5 and 37 yards), while also contributing 8 tackles on defense. Jordan Smeichowski chipped in with a 3-yard touchdown run.
Ashton Robinson made the most of his lone carry, breaking free for a 33-yard touchdown, and also picked off a pass on defense.
The Pirates’ defense was equally impressive, led by Braylon Orcher’s 11 tackles, Chris Rhea’s 9 tackles, and Magnus Geiger’s 7 tackles.
Huron, now 1-3, found some consolation with a strong fourth-quarter performance, scoring all 21 of their points in the final stanza.
Riverview, now 4-0, sets its sights on next week’s showdown with fellow undefeated Flat Rock.
