      1. I too would like to know exactly how SMCC is built to beat specifically Riverview?

I think SMCC and View is going to be a great football game. But until and unless a team consistently beats them, View is the HL big dog that sets the standard.

Nothing but respect for View’s program.

        1. I think I know the answer. SMCC looks just like Riverview this year. They are big, strong, athletic and fast. Just like Riverview is. You can tell the Falcons have spent more time in the weight and training rooms than the last few years. I also think the Falcons, offense was tooled a bit to give their backs a different tool so to speak by running the T out of the gun. I think its also fair to say that SMCC has their best passing QB since 2014. With that said, Riverview looks awesome!

          1. Similar teams, no doubt, I’ve seen both of them. Top end speed is the main difference, along with strength up the middle on both sides of the ball. Riverview is built to defend the pass with that speed. Both teams are fast, just one is even faster. This year, it’s a bigger, stronger front 7. We’re not talking a little stronger, we’re talking a lot stronger and a lot bigger than last years group. Also, a much better passing game than last year with a regional champ at qb. So while SMCC has raised it’s bar, Riverview has also raised its bar. That team last season really wasn’t loaded with the strength this team is. I’d be interested to hear on here from a Huron player what their perspective was between the two teams. I don’t care for the gun, if a center gets beat up by a physical defense, botched snaps may start happening, that’s just one more problem a team has. SMCC really hasn’t ran into a buzzsaw on defense to see how that shakes out. Clinton is in a down year and the rest of the schedule is about as good as Riverview’s at this point, so they really don’t know.

    1. Have another drink! SMCC better worry about beating Milan and Riverview better worry about beating Flat Rock. I personally think Riverview waxes SMCC by 28 this year because SMCC has never been able to stop the T but I do hope its a good game this year. I think SMCC has a special team but Riverview is just that much better than everyone. This is Riverview’s best team since 2004 easily.

      1. Winning a league with the best teams 2 and 4 divisions below them, has become rather easy. How many in a row now is it? I lost count lol. I mean it took Airport’s best team ever and View missing 5 starters to finally lose a league game. I don’t know who will best Riverview or when. But I know it will be a tall order.

Riverview’s season will be determined by the playoffs. Where they will face fellow D3 foes. When you reach their level of success, deep playoff runs are the measuring stick.

        1. So this year, barely D3, next year back to D4. Your go to excuse is always that Riverview is D3. Last night they beat a school of similar size with the same amount of players. You don’t hear CC making excuses that they are the smaller school.

          1. Just stating truths.

I think that’s ok to do.

What did I say that was incorrect?

Just 2 weeks ago sir, you got on Ida’s(D6)case for losing to “a D8 school”. “I thought they were world beaters” you stated. Snark detected. Seems you are arguing both sides.

By your own logic, a state ranked D3 school should hardly ever lose to a state ranked D5 school.

          1. Gary, the moment SMCC loses to Riverview, then it becomes about school size rather than giving credit to the players and the program. I think that’s wrong to deny Riverview credit like that, especially since CC doesn’t lead the series by a little, but by a lot. You can’t have it both ways. I’m sure if SMCC thought Huron league competition and schools were too tough for them they’d find some small school league they could dominate with ease. As for Ida, it’s you guys who’ve been telling us how amazing they are all season, so no, I didn’t expect an unranked team in a lower division to knock them off like that. The Whiteford win isn’t looking so impressive at this point. I wasn’t buying it just yet.

          2. If you watch anything we have ever put out, I have said Riverview is head and shoulders above everyone else in the Huron League. We started making videos in 2017, when View really took off. Take a look, they are still on YouTube. Heck in ‘17 Mac sent me an email because I said Riverview was going to wax Divine Child. He didn’t like that I was backing them so much I suppose. I’ve said they don’t make mistakes. I’ve said many things complimentary. Any comment you want to pull. All true. I think it’s ok to talk about both sides of the coin. If you don’t think there is at least a slight advantage enrollment wise, that’s fine. You may be right. However I suppose there is a reason we have 8 divisions. You would also be correct that the change in View started when Mac switched over to the T. That surely has something to do with the dominance as well.

  1. Flat Rock definitely looked ahead to Riverview. The second half the D tightened up , Monroe’s QB is definitely a good player .

  2. No one in the HL is beating the View. Smcc and Flat Rock are playing for 2nd place. Riverview will smash Flat Rock and Smcc. Listen to what I’m telling you. The view wins 5 consecutive Huron League Title.

    1. We saw your game against Huron and went in knowing exactly what to expect. The Huron offense didn’t do anything on the starters, their OL spent most of the game trying to tackle defenders. Riverview even declined a holding penalty on Huron and gave them the ball at around the Riverview 25 while it was 37-0 just to give their defense some extra reps under pressure. The Riverview starting defense hasn’t given up a point this year. Huron did the same thing they did against SMCC, they tried going WWE for about 3 quarters and those officials weren’t having it. It got so bad at one point that the officials had a meeting with the starting Huron offense to try to tell them to stop. Riverview had strength up the middle the main culprit on Huron wasn’t expecting and he was tossed himself a few times. Huron could be a good football team, but they are an extremely undisciplined team on offense. If those linemen put as much effort into learning legit blocking and pass blocking as they do tackling defenders from behind and from the side, their offense might be able to move the ball because there is some talent at the skill positions. It seems to me like one of those players on the Huron OL should be moved to defense because even though he doesn’t do things right, you have to admire his strength, coordination and determination on every play and defense is about tackling which he’s very good at. I’m not sure he can change where he is. He just doesn’t know how to block anybody correctly. I saw no evidence of it the entire game as he was ejected in the second half.

      1. If last year’s young team doesn’t fumble while driving with the lead in the first half and Rouge has to keep passing, View might have won that game last year. Nick Marsh was held to just one catch by Ian Adams who defended him extremely well. This year’s defense is considerably larger and stronger which should make a difference there. They just needed a few more guys last year.

  3. Huron league is really down this year. 2 teams that haven’t really played anyone and the rest are just not good at all. Sorry

    1. Huron League Truther

You must be a member of the Society for Striking of Deceased Equine…

The Huron League is not down when there are currently (checks notes)…

Three unbeaten teams who are ranked in the top ten of their divisions, and SMCC (checks notes again)…

Beat a Clinton team that was ranked in the top 10 of their division

  4. Trying to be a BEAR fan

Jefferson was in the game at half time. Why do they not do full kick-offs? They have a pretty good extra kicker. Also went for it every time on 4th down. Constantly gave Flat Rock good field position and put our kids backs against the wall. We had a chance for awhile.
Flat Rock D needs some work if they are going to compete with SMCC and Riverview.

    1. Keep your heads up Bears play for each and don’t let the outside talk in. Hone your skills as the small gains today will pay dividens tomorrow. You know that you love the game because if you didn’t there would be no football at Jefferson. It takes guts to suit up every Friday knowing there are no seniors and line up across from good offense and defense lines in the HL. Brighter days are ahead Bears just keep grinding.

      1. Should be moved to the other side of the ball imo. Tackling is the specialty there, not blocking. Great effort, balance, and strength even though it is doing things the wrong way. I think it did make the game more entertaining. There were three options, tackle the defender from behind, side, and the rolling suplex move. No actual pass or run blocking detected.

      1. After tonight it will be 1-15 for Riverviews opponents.

Two things can be true, Riverview is a good team, they haven’t played anyone good yet.

        1. Flat rock is the same way there opponents have 2 wins combined it will be a good game next week to see how each team does when they don’t play lower end teams

          1. FR first 4 games have been the equivalent to 4 scrimmages against 4 not very good teams.
FR has 2 tough games on their schedule and that’s prey much it.

      2. Not sure what else they can do. In four weeks there has been 30, 36, 44, and 41 points on the board by halftime. The teams aren’t very good, but that’s still very impressive to score that quickly in 24 minutes of football. It’s not as if these scores take an entire game to reach. Most of the time, the offense is done by halftime, or one series into the second half. Zero points given up by the starting defense and I don’t believe the starting offense has ever been stopped other than one fumble. Toughest team they faced was in a scrimmage against Carlson and they did fine there.

    1. Went all down hill after that. If we are going to get better, we need to make better coaching decisions.
Kids played hard. Still don’t put in 2nd and 3rd string no matter the score. Starter got hurt again.
