  1. Yea that kid really knows how to hit. Im a cc fan and what he did in the game against us was unreal. He almost carried that team to a win. I have great respect for him and the coaches and media should to. He really does deserve defensive player of the league.

  2. No one is even on Weclowski's level. I understand that he isnt on a great team or a great defense. But that doesnt take away from how good of a player he is. He is already the defensive player of the year in my book.

  3. Weclowski may be having a great INDIVIDUAL season, but that doesn't win games. As far as having the best group of line-backers? I would say Airport has that on lock with Nava, Close, Graves and Riopelle. Excellent speed on the outside, and hard hitting on the inside.

Also, Stats are on the Monroenews website, but usually a week behind.

    j.w.

  4. Yea I agree 100 percent! People arent paying as much attention to the defenses and defensive players in this league. Thats what wins championships. DEFENSE. I would enjoy a blog listing the best defensive player in the league as well.

  5. Chris.. you should do a blog on the best defensive players in the league. The huron league is about defense. A lot of people are forgetting that.

  6. Weclowski had 18 tackles. He had 53 on the year going into the flat rock game Now he has 71. You will see when the monroe stats come out. So everyone can just accept that he is the best defender in the league. He is on pace for way over 100 tackles.

  7. In my book, every kid who puts on a football helmet is a star. Some stars just shine brighter than others. But they ALL light up Friday Night! Can I get an amen?

  8. Weclowski had 18 tackles against flat rock, just for everyone who said he was a one hit wonder. He now leads the region by a pretty good margin. he has 71 tackles. Its a shame he is on an underachieving chief team, he is the best defender in the league without a doubt.

  9. How about GI using its bench more effectively? Pretty hard for some of these boys to stay fresh when they play both sides of the ball the entire game…

  10. HLF…your comment is spot on, no Defense shows up for GI and get humilated by 37, I would almost say any indivual performace regarless of which side of the ball it's on isn't worth the Blog (paper) it's written on.

Another vote in my opion on the power of D and the why the fasination with offensive stats doen't tell the real football story….

GI put up numbers on SMCC D that were embarassing for SMCC, but not near as pathetic the numbers AND WAY SMCC put the smack down on GI D. Clearly something wrong and loose staps there for sure and if they don't fix it……FR might just knock the straps right off GI.

To you hahaha….No offense taken, rather a call to GI D…..WILL you "strap it up"???, cause the O is staped up tight and FR is coming to town and it will be rockin in GI. (and I hear some weather changes are due next week….WINDY and COLD)

Any score predictions out there boys after FR stunner Friday??

    GI 34 FR 18
    SITOFN

  11. What a great reply by the host of this excellent blog! You might have offended some Red Devils though. Be careful though, make sure the next time you visit the island you "strap it up tight." haha.

  12. Well, I can't let this one slide.

I tried to pick one from GI that was more impressive. If you noticed the other stars were picked from "winning teams". Grosse Ile lost by 37 points! If I put 3 GI kids in there I would have to put in every kid from SMCC.

Do you see where I am coming from?
