  1. DK is not a bad coach. He just cracks under pressure and needs more practice when it comes to play calling. Like one said, he had the advantage to beat CC but wanted to go for 2 points when the running game wasn't working much at all that night. Zac Richardson is the best kicker I've seen in a long time, and he hits it practically every time! Had DK listened to what the team wanted to do instead of only thinking "win win win", that game would've been Huron's. You talk to most of the players from Huron and they'll tell you its crap play calling by the coaches that cause them to do bad. If they thought with their brains more and quit acting like they know they game Huron could go somewhere. DK has brought this program up a long way; http://michigan-football.com/f/nbhuron.htm is huron's current and past records. DK has stopped this team from going 0-9 but still has a lot more work to do but DK is doing a good job all in all with this program and is making it work the best he can. He's giving it all a new look and trying to get it back on the map.. Go get em Chiefs and finish off this season strong. You got 3 games left boys, finish it out and don't let it go sour. This might be the last year Huron will have a good season (JV isn't doing so good) so take advantage of this year.

  2. Most talented team in Huron history? Are you sure? Huron has been playing football a long time in a very tough league. Just because they haven't had much success doesn't mean they haven't had talented teams.

Let me point out one team in particular. The 1980 team which went 3-6 had some very good talent but had a hard time winning in the tough Huron League. Dave Teague was a lineman who went on to play for Division I Eastern Michigan.

Joe Rice who was a state champion wrestler at heavyweight went on to be a Division II All-American at defensive tackle while at Saginaw Valley.

Shawn Slayton, who was a 12 varsity letter winner at Huron in football, basketball and baseball was a 3 year starer, and 2-time all leaguer at defensive back for Saginaw Valley.

The best player on the team was the FB/MLB Tim Manderville who chose not to play college football.

This team was also coached by Tom LaBeau who won a State Championship in football while at Monroe Catholic Central.

If you like, off the top of my head I can argue that the 1970, 1971, 1977, 1978, and 1988 Huron teams all had more talent than this year's team.

Give the guy some more time. He will win eventually and will win consistently if you stick with him. He has made the sport at least relevant at Huron.

  3. I agree that coach kauby has brought back a troubled program. But this season these huron chiefs should have gone 7-2. They should of beat cc. They lost 20-19 and the coach went for two pt conversion twice instead of kicking the extra point with an automatic extra point kicker in zac richardson. Also in that game on 4th and 5 he called a draw play when the stop with the outside receivers was working ALL night. So i blame him for that loss.So if huron should of beat cc.. how can it be acceptable for the program to get it handed to them by flat rock and now lose to milan? He has ruined the most talented team in THE HISTORY of the huron football program and he has to live with that.He should be fired.

  4. Wow these Kalby bashers on here are a flat out joke. He has taken the worst football culture in the state and made them relevant. In just 6 years a massive culture change is no easy feat. Before he got to Huron people would go insane if Huron went 5-4 and it goes to show what kind of job hes done so young that people are upset.

  5. If you are going to call for a coach's job, be a man and put your name to it. That way the Huron AD knows who he can hire to do a better job. No wonder no coach is ever willing to stay and get pounded at Huron. Put your name out there so Huron knows who it should hire when DK resigns after the year because he is tired of idiots like you.
If you are a better play caller then he is, call him and ask for a job calling the offense and let him second guess you.

  6. You people kill me! It is never your poor kid's fault that they lost an opportunity.

A coach does not put heart in your kid!

Did the coach miss the block that gets the QB sacked? Was it the coach that dances with the end instead of getting off the block and making a tackle? Was it the coach that misses an assignment?

Once those kids get between the lines, it is about heart and taking care of your assignments.

It's okay though, go home, keep telling your kid how great they played and blame the coaching staff for the loss. Instead of supporting the coaching staff and telling the kid to look in the mirror and tell himself that he played with heart on every play.

Until you parents do this, things will never change!

  7. A few questions from the Flat Rock/GI game…the most important being, Is Joe Connor ok?? Does anyone have any info.2…Why did the Flat Rock coaches (coach) blow a gasket after the play..It was clean, he(connor) just landed wrong..Why did Coach Bodner snap the ball IN THE SHOTGUN, RUN A PLAY AND FUMBLE with less than 2 minutes left when FR had no timeouts go under center take a KNEE coach…???????? I thought the coaching staffs on both sides were subpar..why did GI attempt more then 10 passes?? the hammered FR on the ground…Why didn't Flat Rock attempt more then 10 passes?? seems they have a good QB that they underutilize….he led an impressive drive towards the end of the 4th quarter through the air…..im not criticizing, but just stating my opinion….kids on both teams played with a ton of charisma!

  8. GI won because they OUTPLAYED Flat Rock. Grow up, this is football. Injuries happen. There was no dirty hit, just a good old fashioned, hard hitting football game. Bunch of cry babies….

  9. You can chalk up Huron's woes to a few things. Poor tackling and bad decision making at key times. I'll let you sort out whose fault is whose from there.

  10. This is not about dedication or building up a program. This is about whene you get there and your coach drops the ball every time he steps on the field. This is about takeing something away from the kids they earned. What about the kids dedication, and when it came time to be rewarded it it was taken from them.Taken by a coach that his own asst.coaches wont even go near him at a game and even when its so clear that he lost the game he blames the kids.

  11. i agree with huronleaguefootball. labeau did have a great game. but i think it should be lovell too..he had 17 less yards than labeau, but lebeau had 12 more carries. lovell got the 7 times and labeau got the ball 19 times. both backs are good!!

  12. riverview played a much better game than jefferson and deserved to win….however the refs were horrible..with 1 minute left in the game 4-16 riverview has a pass interference call with 15 yard penalty and it goes to 1-10 someone want to explain that one…
riverview got screwed and jefferson didnt deserve that win

  13. Good point! You can only vote once so and I didn't think it would be fair to the players to have teammates vying for votes. I went with Lovell because he played both ways and excelled on each side of the ball.

  14. I think Chris LaBeau should be in the voting for player of the week. He was player of the game last night (according to state champs tv) he was honestly the best player on the field last night.

  15. GI has a nice team and the three headed monster (haha) but don't think for a minute that you won't miss Teen next year. He is the best player on the team. You have to acknowledge his skill and athleticism on every play.

  16. Huron 5-4???….they have to come to the island yet and rhumor has it it's not a very friendly place for the opposition! Those GI boys will be strapped up TIGHT…will huron??

GI beat FR on an average performance by the Red Devils… but a win is a win and shows that this league may have some winds of change blowin' in off lake Erie after all.

This author is hesitant to declare any weather forcasts because GI hasn't stung back-to-back wins together all year… soooo this is obviously a huge test for GI which they haven't passed all year. And except for CC, this teacher gives the hardest tests in the HL….can GI make the grade???

Could it be that there is actually and important game on Airports schedule this week when Obama himself had a gimme-game written into the Jets march to the playoffs?

Guess we'll have to actually play the game after all… ;-). Come early to get your seat…I suspect GI will have the house seeing RED!

    SITOFN

  17. I have seen a coach do a pretty good job till he puts the head sets on.Then i don't know what happens he starts throwing like crazy. Last night Milan came out in a 3-5 def. and the coach did not run the ball one time till half way through the second Quarter. And he has a running back avg.over seven yards a carry.Throw three times and punt and he did that three times before running the ball one time.

  18. Be careful what you wish for! Remember Huron's past in football? They have tried every type of coach possible. Did you know that Huron has had a State Championship coach, a former Huron all stater as coach, a former all Big Ten and NFL player as coach, a former state champion as offensive co-ordinater as coach?

The Chiefs are better than in the past and are at least relevant and it is because of the dedication of your head coach. Give the guy some more time. The coach you just mentioned a trade for went almost 10 years before he won consistently.

  19. How can that Huron coach stay?he had a play off team for sure.Remeber They played airport tight till the fourth and lost to smcc by one who beat airport. If Huron had any other coach in the league they would be going to the play offs, and contending for a share of league champs. How can a coach do what he has done to the kids and the school.Huron had talent this year and this coach looked like a high school kid coaching. All this and where hopeing we can finish 5-4 what a let down.If you have seen the last three huron games tell me what you seen in the coaching.Jefferson is CISCO still on the tradeing blocks.

  20. This just goes to show what i thought all along, Huron was overhyped and not nearly as good as what people on hear seemed to make them out to be. There still Huron. And this was there chance to win, cuz the future doesnt look to bright in New Boston. Enjoy a possible 5-4 then get ready for the usual 1-8, 0-9 the next few years.

  21. yeah, cash in the chips. seasons done huron. It's to bad, because it seems like the team has the talent, but maybe its just an improvment over the 0-9 teams of the past. Milan seems to be getting better as the year rolls on, and should be ready for next friday's showdown with cc. The question is, will milan be able to limit the mistakes to keep them in the game. If they play their best game of the year, they can hang with them….

  22. will these coaches please go back to lincoln park or wherever they came from? I am not even a huron fan but these kids deserve more. why hasnt the AD fired these guys after ruining the last like 7 seasons??? I think my daughter could have coached this group of kids this year to the playoffs
