  1. Quoted from anno… "SMCC will replace enough starters? You think?
They only started 12 JR's and 1 soph last year. Can any other team boast that?"

Huh… GI started 4 sophs and 10 Juniors last year, and most of those juniors are headed into their 3rd or 4th year as starters on Varsity. So I guess your right, no other team can boast that?

  2. You are killing me…. Grosse Ile has a secret weapon !! What a new coaching staff?…. I would be hard pressed to figure out what they have over last years team.

  3. SMCC will replace enough starters? You think?

They only started 12 JR's and 1 soph last year. Can any other team boast that?

    Remember the name: Connor Schmidt!

  4. 1.SMCC- Their offense is just so hard to stop. They will return enough starters and replace the ones that left with more athletes. Until they get knocked off the top they will remain here.
2.Grosse Ile- Flame away but I believe they will finally have a defense and the whole HL KNOWS they already have an offense. If I am wrong and the defense doesnt show up drop em to 4 behind Monroe. The loss of Teen will be huge but they have a lot of returning talent and a good group from JV coming up. I hear they have a secret weapon too. hmmmm
3.Airport- They will have a TON of talent and returning starters. Only put #3 instead of #1 or #2 because they have a new coach. Mays will be a handful and they most likely will be #2 but that's a boring predictable pick.
4.Jefferson- They need to improve a lot from last year. If they do #3 I just dont think they will. They did not impress last year and the group from JV was not that good. The rest of the league improved and they had a hard time last year with most of them.
5.Milan- Should be better next year but nothing amazing. Varsity was solid but not amazing. JV was skilled but not very good so the improvements will be slight.
6.Riverview- Did much better at the end of last year but I just dont see the talent to go with the savior coach. About the same results as last year but they will be "in" games so a few more wins is likely.
7.Flat Rock- Good team with a good future, just too young for this year. We wont be able to hang with the rest of the league this year. I am looking forward to the following years though.
8.Huron- They are just bad. Good players. Some talent but for some reason they cant play well together.

  5. Anonymous March 31, 2010 11:49 PM: Are you saying that SMCC was a one person team last year? If you are that's crazy. They had 5-6 backs that carried the ball plus their QB Howey. Pannone, Miracle led the defense and not to mention their whole offensive line that did really good. In my opinion it is not going to be easy to win the league. It never is. Also I think there will be alot of improved teams this upcoming year.

  6. "SMCC thinks they're going to run away with it again"??? They didn't run away with anything, they battled it man, they took it game by game. It's the "fans" that do all the talking. In the fall, they will be ready to do battle again. Giarmo will lead the team, like he always does. Less talk and more time in the weightroom, men.

  7. The Monroe County All Star Football is June 18th at 7:00 pm. It will be played at Bedford High School. They have a great field, and should be a great game. This will have to hold us over until late Aug when it starts all over again! SMCC thinks they are going to run away with it again this year, but they have another thing coming! Alot of teams want some Falcon meat on there plate! No one person is going to carry them, this is a team sport!

  8. Hey Chris dont let people bother you about blogs.(Hey Chris make a track blog, hey chris make a baseball blog, hey chris make a wrestling blog). This Football blog is incredible and its the only Huron league blog that you NEED!

  9. chris lets get talkin going. personally i am going to go with SMCC wining the league and making a run in the playoffs.
name the man who u think will lead those falcons?

  10. @ 4:29 Huronleaguefootball said earlier in the comments that he heard as many as 7 could go up, which I think is an absurd number based on what I saw last year. I'd rather not list the two I'm talking about because it would single out the third that's moving up, and that's not what this blog is about.

  11. I am not saying that stating your opinion of Huron being at the bottom of the league is idiotic, however, not giving reasons to support your thesis is just that.

  12. Hey 9:15 post who are the two that should be moved up, cuz I know for sure the 3 that got moved up against Erie are going to varsity, have not heard about 7

  13. If 7 kids move up to varsity for FR that doesn't say much for the coaching staff. There are only 2 that I've seen that shoud even get a chance to move up. The three they moved up played against Erie-Mason, which isn't much of a game.

  14. Huron went 3-6 which is awful. Yet everbody acts like they had a good year. And they lose weclowski, mayrand, harris, stockert. Easily there 4 best players. Things arent looking good over at Huron.

  15. yes they should make a Huron League Track Blog. that would really get us excited for football next year by seeing who's actually the faster sprinters in the league/region. i'm all for it! but Airport is going to 3-peat for the first time ever this season and a regional championship!

  16. For 12:50, what an idiotic post. GI missed the playoffs by mere points last year but they are too soft to break out of seventh spot again? And Huron will be bad for eternity because they are Huron, just ingenious.

  17. to the poster at 6:39 you are awfully wrong. Heres how I have
    things for next year.
    1. SMCC
    2. Milan
    3. Airport
    4. Riverview
    5. Jefferson
    6. Flat rock
    7. Grosse ile
    8. Huron

5-6 are toss ups. Grosse Ile and Huron will battle each other to avoid the Huron league cellar. GI is too Soft and Huron is just Huron. They are bad and will always be bad for eternity.

  18. Riverview will be an interesting study. They certainly finished the year strong but will need to start the season strong with SMCC, Milan and GI in thier first 4 games. They will know how good they are right away.

The league to me looks to be very balanced this year. SMCC has to be the favorite but 2nd could go to could go to anyone. SMCC will have to come to play every week if it expects to run the table. I see one loss in there somewhere.

I cant wait to see who shakes out as playoff teams. I will say this, they will be tested and playoff ready. Is it AUG yet?

  19. Look for Luke yinger and the falcon offense to dominate the Huron league. Yinger will be one of the top players in the league

  20. I heard Flat Rock has 3 good kids that will be sophmores next year that will be playing varsity next year, probably starting Chickeral, Knoch and Blosser. They all played varsity the last game of year and did well. knoch and blosser are both beasts.

  21. I'm not sure what FR has returning this year but they do have a nice athletic class coming up. I have heard that as many as 7 sophomores could play varsity for the Rams next season.

  22. don't know about returning varsity players but the younger blosser kid – i think his name is mike is a great player and think he is a
10th grader – he will be one to watch

  23. Hey Chris
Now that Flat Rock graduated most of their running backs, who do you think will replace them? I graduated from there a FEW years ago, just wanted to keep updated, dont really know who is under them.
    KF

  24. we should make a huron league track blog this year seems to be competitive between all the teams plus we got some fast players that run track as well like Dex teen Jodeci mays Michael howie Leo Pittman airport an milan have to go at it again for the huron league track championship i just think i track blog would be fun to have. what are everyone else's thoughts.

  25. i heard about milan getting the highland park state champ in wrestling, and he would most likely play d-line, does anyone know if this is true or just a rumor

  26. Anonymous 3/6/2010 10:49 PM

Thought the same thing regarding the DPOY. Not a hater, but really surprised that most of the tackles were 5+ yards down the field and very little evidence of the ability to shed or stuff a block. Interesting.

  27. Okay heres all this talk about stopping Cameron, White, Pannone, Burkhardt, Mays. Your missing out the top returning player in the league according to the blog, Bosman. How do you stop him, 2 year 1st Team All League Defensive Tackle this year being Unanimous and a 2nd Team for Tight End. Versitility how do you stop him on either side of the ball?

Stergalas will look to him to lead the Pirates this season.

  28. he also had 1,000 return yards too…only player to ever hit the 2,000/2,000/1,000 yard mark in rushing/receiving/returning

  29. i correct myself 2000 yard rushing and 2000 recieving. only the fifth person to ever do it in college football

  30. So, the questions for all, how do you stop Weclowski or Cameron this next year and how will those two help change the record of their teams. Then the big question is how do you stop SMCC?

  31. HuronLeageScout

are there any other videos of maybe someone that use to play in the huron league? Some college players highlights?

  32. i hope someone notices that teams sent there whole team to block tyler weclowski and he still got 157 tackles( why hes going to toled) haterrrrr. and check the clip where there playing jefferson, he knocks a blocker down and then makes the tackle. Just saying =)

  33. i hope some one other then myself notices that the defensive player of the year never tries to run through a block or take one one to get to the RB
