Hey everybody I just wanted to let you know that I have nothing at this point on football. I am personally in track & field mode. I know people would like a track blog but I’m not going to do that, sorry!

Please feel free to get some talk going. I will get things posted as they come in. Have a blessed Holy Week and a Happy Easter!

  1. Just an FYI. Flat Rock, Huron and Milan all have small parts of their school districts in Monroe County. I have the rosters already and they include players from thoise schools. Rosters will be posted this weekend.

  2. Weclowski and Teen are both from schools in Wayne County. They will NOT be playing in the Monroe County All Star Game. That also includes Flat Rock. Players from all schools in Monroe County have already been choosen, so there is no point in guessing. A list will be out very soon. Players must have another physical done after May 1st inorder to practice/play. Game will be played on June 18th at Bedford High School at 7:00pm.

  3. yes probably all those besides teen since its the monroe county all star game. Who else do you think will be in it? any predicted line ups anyone?

  4. seen the smcc an milan meet also pittman did look pretty good an a 11.45 running agaisnt a strong head wind is a pretty good time milan looks like to have sprinting down this year.

  5. saw the milan smcc meet. pittman won the 100 and 200. he looked pretty good i think a 11.45 and not sure on the 200. howey looked slow and just not himself. ran a 11.75 and a believe a 23.8. i was shockecd he struggled that bad for whatever reason.

  6. Chris are you gonna do a preview of the monroe county all star football game? What are your thoughts about the game, do u know the roster?

  7. yeah thats the thing about the 100/200 at big meets, their are lots of pre-lims that really push the kids to do better. i also saw Teen not running, Teen and Williams both out? anyone know why?

  8. I'm the one that said Howey won the 300. I swear I saw in the Monroe Evening News that one time he won the 100, 200, 300, and 400. Maybe I misread or the paper messed up lol. But thanks for clarifying for me.

  9. Here is the 200. Some of the notables from the 100 didn't make the finals in the 200.

    200 Meters – Varsity – Finals
    1 Mike Howey 22.40 SMCC 12
    2 Logan Moore 22.50 SoAn 12
    3 Jamal Wheeler 22.90 IdSc 12
    5 Tim Reeber 23.60 Tren 10
    6 Brian Walters 24.00 IdSc 12
    7 Brandon Surcek 24.40 ROOS 12
    8 Eric Morrow 24.70 Mjef 11

  10. Here are the times from the finals at the Jefferson Invite.

    100 Meters – Varsity – Finals
    1 Mike Howey 11.00 SMCC 12
    2 Jamal Wheeler 11.10 IdSc 12
    3 Jodeci Mays 11.20 Airp 11
    4 Eric Morrow 11.40 Mjef 11
    5 Desmond Lowe 11.41 NBHu 10
    6 Jeff Pauwels 11.50 Erie 11
    7 Andrew White 11.51 RiCo 12
    8 Ryan Wertenberger 11.60 IdSc 12

  11. how can howey win the 300 if thats not a high school event, besides the 300 hurdles? i'm sure howey doesn't hurdle. but yes he is doing quite well, running sub-23 in the 200 will surely place at D3 states. but Airport won the Jeff invite i saw, good job to them. i didn't see Williams from Airport running, anyone know why?

on another note Jefferson i think will beat milan in the league this year. their pretty solid in every event.

  12. I've noticed that Mike Howey has won the 100 and 200 every race he's been in this year. He's also won the 400 a couple times and the 300 once. Congats to him. Also, the Aiport boys continue to do really good.

  13. well a lot of the Huron League results are on athletic.net but Milan and Riverview do not have any results posted yet so knowing Pittman's time we arent sure. Its a great site to check out stats for every athlete in the state or even the country. i know Airport, Jefferson, and Huron are always updating results all the time.

  14. what about pittman from milan i heard he was right on conner. He also won every dual meet last year as a sophmore an pulled his hamstring in league meet. Anyone hear any buzz about him???

  15. I think Chris nailed it. We have to wait and see what happens and they are different types of players, both good however. To say Lovell can't play D1 is not right. Both him and Weclowski could play at a small D1 school like Toledo. Also Mike Howey was 11 flat in the 100 too. So congrats to him and Connor for doing that.

  16. Both players were excellent high school players. Only time will tell what happens in college.

I think Weclowski and Lovell were different players. Lovell was a physical player who would take on blocks and fill the hole. Weclowski was a player who was taught to go over blocks in order to make the tackle.

  17. Sure lovell was a good player…but he is no where good enough to play D1, some how I do not see this happening

  18. to the 100m question both of them are excellent runners who else in the 100? is Teen doing it again this year. also congrats to Joe Conner from FR on hitting 11 flat in the 100

  19. My opinion is that they are really equal and it's to close to call. They both are good players. Watching Weclowski's video on YouTube it seemed he got quite a few tackles far down field. Obviously cc's defense was better than Huron's. If you had them switch teams I think that the stats would be pretty similar. Both players are really tough. Lovell played with a hurt shoulder from the airport game on and didn't Weclowski break is wrist or something and play with a cast? Also, this was the first year Lovell STARTED on defense. His sophmore year on varsity he didn't see the field on defense and his junior year he was 2nd string and got in a couple of games. In the end I say it's to close to call. I'm with the other anonymous, your thoughts Chris?

  20. Lovell and Weclowski are equally as good i think. Weclowski will probably see the field first at Toledo though.

  21. Lovell is a good player but not as good as Weclowski in my opinion. Head to head: Weclowski 28 tackles 1 int, 5 carries 30 yards and a td. Im not sure of Lovells stats in that game? Weclowski- 157 tackles ( all be it on a worse defense but if weclowski was at cc I believe he would of had at least 120 tackles) at huron he had no help and everyone on the other team trying to block him. Lovell is a tough tough kid tho.. CLOSE CALL

  22. Chris, if Lovell and Weclowski both go to toledo who do you thing will see game action first. In other words who do you think is better. It has been long discussed on this blog and I just want to know your opionion or anyones opinion. They were both great players.Lovell went to the state title game, but I would think that if weclowski was on cc and lovell was on huron would the overall team results be near the same? Or would huron have done better or would cc have won the championship?

  23. I was at the meet and remember the times. in the 100 Howey was 11.0 and mays was 11.4 and 200 howey was 23.3 and mays was 24.1. so that was all about smcc won though were those two events

  24. It's not really a surprise that airport beat smcc in track. Airport is supposed to be good this year. I see Mike Howey won the 100 and 200. Does that mean he beat Mays? I don't know what Mays runs but I'm assuming he runs what Howey runs.

  25. Yeah, Lovell visited Toledo. Actually when he visited Weclowski visited too and they toured together. It would be cool to see them both on the same team. We will have to wait and see what happens. Good luck to them and all the other athletes moving on!

  26. I see SMCC's Garrison Diehl has decided to play football again. He is playing at Bluffton next year. Congrats to him and all the other league players who are moving on to the next level!

  27. airport and smcc in track tomorrow. Whos gonna win what?
100? 200? 400? 800? relays? id say airport wins the meet

  28. The Monroe County All star football game is on June 18th. The HL side of things (plus Carlson) will feature some nice players. The Huron staff will be coaching that team. I would therefore anticipate Stockert and Conner having a big day receiving from Mayrand. They will probably use Howey in some sort of a spread/wildcat fashion that might be fun to watch. I guess the question will be whether or not they can play D.

  29. The Top 3 for Airport in each Event

4×800 – Ken Domingue, Tony Rote, Alex Lancina, Evan Kryzske
110mH – Derrek Williams, Spencer Machcinski, Caleb Schumake
100m – Jodeci Mays, Matt Leigh, Michael Graves
    4×200 – (still questionable)
1600m – Evan Kryzske, Tony Rote, Steve Domingue
    4x100m – (still Questionalbe)
    400m – Quentin Draftz, (questionable)
300mH – Derrek Williams, Spencer Machcinski, Cameron Kveen
800m – Ken Domingue, Evan Kryzske, Alex Lancina
200m – Jodeci Mays, Matt Leigh, Quentin Draftz
3200m – Tony Rote, Kyle Long, Steve Domingue
4x400m – Spencer Machcinski, Derrek Williams, Quentin Draftz, Ken Domingue
Shot Put- Travis Hauck, Austin Grant, Kellon Sorenson
    Discus – Grant, Hauck, Sorenson
High Jump – Spencer Machcinski, Jordan Rutkowski, Davaun Posey
Long Jump – Michael Graves, Mitch Snyder, (questionble)

Based on Last Years returners and from What i've heard from Coach Schley.

  30. Monroe County All Star Football game is June 18th at 7:00 pm. It will be played at Bedford High School. This is a fact, because my son just brought home the paperwork, because he's playing in it! Players must have another physical before practices start, sometime around May 1st.

  31. i talked to mike howey, a close friend, and he ran 11.15 already at some time trial. Id expect a sub 11 soon. which would make him the favorite id say

  32. Airport and Milan are the Favorites to win the Huron League in Baseball!! I ranked them in order

    1.Airport 12-2
    2.Milan 11-3
    3.Jefferson 9-5
    3. Flat Rock 9-5
    5. Riverview 6-8
    6. SMCC 5-9
    7. Huron 4-10
    8. GI 0-14
    Final League Standings!

  33. It was nice getting those Class A playoff points last year when beating Airport. Will have to settle for class B this year.

  34. The top 2 in each regional event quailfy for the state meet. There is a automatic qualifier for state that has to be met during the regional meet. That number usually changes from year to year and is different for each division. Additonal qualifying time for the Men's 400 M at the Division II level is 51.0 for 2010.

  35. Is there an automatic qual score for states in the 400? Or do you have to finish in the top 5 in the region or whatever?

  36. To Anonymous at March 30, 2010 3:01PM
Yes a 52 second 400m is a great time in the League, however at some Regionals you might have to post a sub-51 if you want to qualify for the state meet, depends on the division of the school and qualifying standard of the division.

I haven't heard of the Burner from Flat Rock but Joe Connor would still contend in the League.

Jets are the favored to win this season, a lot of boys returning but losing some key hits but nothing to grieve over.

SMCC won the XC League so their D-Crew should be solid, but The Jets have Kryzske and Rote are all returning so by the First Dual we will know who is better..As for Spring J.Mays and D.Teen are going to pretty much battle it out with maybe some surprises from other teams..As for the Hurdles Williams from Airport took 4th last year at states as a Sophmore so he should repeat as Huron League/Regional Champion and Sterling from Jefferson has improved tremedously from last season..As for the Throws Hauck/Grant from Airport are good and McCollough from Jefferson..Field is up in the air to me.

any other thoughts from other posters?

  37. i also heard of the burner from flat rock, from the way it sounded he will put a fight up in the 100 against teen.

Jets def seem favorite of the league boys side

who has the best long distance crew, sprints, throws, and field in the league this year?

and thoughts on a suprise team?

  38. Go Blue,
Winning a Regional in DI track and Field will be tough for Airport. I also heard that FR has a burner from out of state.

  39. Airport has the best track coach in the state in Mr. Mike Schley. Hes an oldschool coach who is somewhat cranky but he gets the best out of his runners and his students in the classroom. Class act.

  40. It is safe to say that the Jets are the favorite to win the league on the boys side of things.

I would think that Milan is the favorite on the girls side.

We'll see what happens. I'm very excited aboout the season starting but don't like where spring break falls.

  41. Your in T & F mode thats good Chris! The Jets are going to win the Huron League Title this year for their first ever 3-peat. Heck, they have the talent to win a regional championship. As for the state meet expect quite a few kids to place and have well seasons.

Just my thoughts on the season, what are yours?
