To the 9/26 5:47pm poster:
SMCC shows class by not running up the score against every Huron League Team it's played against thus far.
SMCC shows class by allowing the vast majority, if not all, of the team to contribute and participate when the game has basically been decided, be that the 2nd or 4th quarter.
SMCC shows class by taking a knee when it's 1st and goal with 2 minutes left in the Huron game.
People like you will always feel the way you do about CC regardless of how the team does/doesn't act, do, perform, behave. The choice to support another Huron League team in the playoffs or otherwise is your choice and your choice alone. Take responsibility for your own opinion. Come playoff time, true fans of the game and of high school athletics in general appreciate even their rivals' successes because it reflects well on their league and their community. We're talking about high school KIDS here–why wouldn't you be happy for them and their success?
GO HURON LEAGUE!
And the 20 year old you are talking about is my kid , he is 23,has three kids and is devoirced, but at least he is back in school.Good job son. Some day you will be a starter..Go CC
Nobody needs to brag about putting in 2-3 string players,if it is just a comment about how the game went then it is just that… a comment. But I'm willing to bet CC uses its 2-3 string before Airport does. Call it bragging if you want,Im just calling it on how I see the game playing out.
Wow, As a Jefferson Alumni and now parent of Airport Athletes, you have to love the passion by the Islanders. Don't give up and keep the spirit, thats what makes High School Athletics fun. Even though they aren't winning the passion & support shown for any sport GI plays is something to be admired by all. GI exemplifies good sportsmanship and continues to try to expand their programs. Kudos to the Islanders.
Here's what I have to say about SMCC vs GI. I think the falcons will score everytime they have the ball PERIOD. GI could put up a few points to make things interesting for about a quarter or so. This falcons defense is for real and the offense is scoring at will. SMCC 55 GI 19.
Topolewski – I like how you think!!
You can wear the GI t-shirt with pride.
I absolutely believe this team is UNDERACHIEVING and everyone has skin in the game……players, parents, coaches!
Just once to hit on all cylinders and WALA…. U P S E T. Yea, I know it's a stretch, but I BELIEVE and RED DEVIL faithful DO TOO!
Enjoy the trip north CC, we'll leave the bridge open for ya.
SITOFN
All league fans should support all the teams come playoff time. Give the falcon backers some slack. If you keep up all the teams that are good or supposed to be good talk smack… cc.. airport.. Jefferson… huron in basketball. It's just part of it. Take it in stride and know there are 100 times more people that don't talk smack about their team then do.

Thanks Chris
I dont believe that anyone out there believes that SMCC will not win the league … but the question is: Can they do it with class?? I think the players, parents, and fans who post on here are cocky and rude and believe that they are better than everyone else (and Im not talking just at football) and when push comes to shove and if you make it to states wouldnt it be nice to have the support of the other teams in your league there to cheer you on?? Wow-what a concept!! Or maybe you are just cocky enough not to care?
Sorry, I'm not going to approve anymore GI comments that don't pertain to the game.
I dont think the league is that strong this year, definetly not as strong as 03-04.
Why is Huron so dominant in basketball and not in football.
I mean no disrespect to anyone but the league is below average in hoop and very good in football.
It is what it is.
Topo,
No team in the league will come close to beating the Falcons this season. They are awesome, whether the wind is a factor or not.
Chris
Since SMCC always announces this like its a big deal i think i will too. Airport put their 2s and 3s for Defense in with the 1:00 left and Jefferson threw the ball and scored in 2 plays =P
Hey Chris tell me what you think about this?
Bodner pulls all the tricks out of the playbook on homecoming night on the island. Howey takes one back to the barn, while Kish, Cameron, and White all have their biggest games of the year. The Devil defense comes out and smacks the falcons from the get go, as GI and CC go late into the night in a high scoring game… like i said a lot of laughs but i really do think the islanders have a lot a upset potential and in recent years has their really been a true upset that shocked the league? not as far as i know… Come on GI give the league something they dont expect for once
any thoughts dont bash me to bad…
-Topolewski
i have Riverview beating huron an Algonac to finish 4-5 no way then can pull it off against Airport an Jefferson
Why is Huron so dominant in basketball and still struggles in basketball? They've been the most athletic team in the league top to bottom during hoops, and the coaching staffs of both football and basketball are definitely on the same page, so why the disparity between the two programs?
Are the other footballs that finish ahead of Huron that much better or are the basketball teams that bad in he Huron that are being dominated?
Riverview fans might be asking themselves some of the same questions.
GI Mom,
I'd stick to catching up with the latest edition of Martha Stewarts's Living, so you can get some good ideas for decorating and entertaining during the Halloween season.
I'm not a huge fan of GI coaching staff, but you put all the blame on the players, when most games down to talent and effort.
Just like the unicorn, it is a myth that a coach can just wave his wand and magically cure all the ills of his or her team. Sometimes coaches over the same fundamentals week in and week out and the players make the same mistakes; it is called execution.
Most people like consistently bail out your son and daughter and don't teach him or her any sense of responsibility or integrity.
I'd worry about your son, and leave the rest of the team to the coach.
And before you write a letter to the superintendent, have the decency and courage to talk to the coach face to face before you begin your letter writing campaign.
prediction, how many yards do you think Mays will get this season? after game 5 he is already at 1,214! Also it looks as if the jets should make playoffs so that just adds at least 1 more game to the list. i say he gets close to 2,200. also i would agree with #5 (joe dunn) from milan. why they dont use him to run more we will never know. he ran hard everytime he got the ball against airport.
GI mom, If the kids are soft and not interested in contact playing defense is very difficult. Don't blame the coaches, blame the club
I will somewhat agree with SITOFN. Our O was not running at full speed yesterday. O line was not working as it should. Passing was tried, but I don't believe it was the wind that was creating the problems there. We found that #27 can catch the ball. And we knew that it was just a matter of time until #15 would get kicked out of the game. Not sure what he did last night but he probably deserved it.
Judd and Alogni were standouts on D last night. Keep up the good work and become the leaders on Defense that our team needs.
I totally agree with SITOFN. #5 was the leader on the field last night. He called every play from the backfield to his line. He must have studied our film more than our coaches studied theirs since he new every one of plays by heart and defended us perfectly. Great job #5 you are a huge part of the win last night.
GI has a lot of work to do if they want to move up to the "elite" status. O is nice but D wins games and until we start to focus on D we will be watching the elite teams from the top stair of the basement.
GI offense basically moved the ball with ALOT of help from the Zebra's tonight (no homer refs at Milan!!). The D showed up (kind-of) and the offense laid an egg.
I say….Live by the Pass, Die by the Pass and that was for sure true tonite. Passing game was not crisp and too many picks…that still is a turn-over fella's. Some ground game positives, but not enough touches for "the Haus".
Defense was MUCH IMPROVED for GI tonite. Several 4th down stops including the goal line. Now the TD on the 1st play was a stinker and the semi-fake punt for a 1st smelled bad too…but the boys were hitting and showed signs of a "tude" (Groff, Berlinski, Judd stood out). The big standout was Mr. Alongi…that kid can play, Coach B had better praise that kid and count his blessings!!
Speaking of players…#5 from Milan IS the best player I've seen this year so far. Tremendous energy, smart, loves to hit and is a LEADER for sure. He kicks and probably fills the water bottles too…. Weclowski-esk skills and even better size. He'll be playing on Saturday next year.
CC is coming to GI next week so all I can say is….STRAP IT UP TIGHT BOYS, the Catholics are coming to town and rollin' in with an ATTITUDE to boot.
Riverview had 42
Chris i totally agree with you on SMCC not losing another game the rest of the year, but they will be challenged in the semi-finals for some reason dating back to 2003 they have trouble with who ever they play, yes teams are good but when your up by 19 with 5 min left in the game you have to win, needless to say something always seems to happen, like a hail mary seen to many of them.Good luck Falcons the rest of the way keep playing the way you are and it will be a magical season…
I think he is 25 maybe 26 years old! he has a kid that is 15 too!
Why did #15 from GI get tossed out of the game against Milan? We did not see what happened?
hey 10:23 poster. what number does the 20 yr old have?
I wrote up something on both the SMCC/Huron game and the jefferson/Airport game but haven't posted it yet. I'm waiting on the Milan/Grosse Ile breakdown.
A couple thoughts on the SMCC game. I was the one who turned off the lights when I left to go over to Airport. The wind was huge. Huron was buried in their own end and couldn't throw the ball down field. The Falcons looked great while the Chiefs looked like they had been hit by a train. The big thing for Huron is can they bounce back against FR. I told someone at the Airport/Jefferson game that I don't think SMCC will lose another game this season.
I take it chris and topo are working on summaries as we speak? I know patience is a virtue but I lack it sorry.
smcc has a kid playing on their team that is 20
I think God saw enough and turned out the lights.

Lets take it easy on Huron. They just got beat by a better team. They made a couple early mistakes and it just snowballed from there. Ease up on em a bit Falcon fans and show some class. Huron isnt as bad as the score indicates. SMCC might just be that good though.
-BN
no comment..
K.C
SMACK SMACK SMACK can you hear that???? Thats called getting your pants pulled down and your butt being handed to ya HURON…..
Whos the next team to talk trash about CC??? By the way how is that working out???
I thought the Huron game was going to be close, what happened? Riverview finally mustered up some offense, against flat rock albeit but still good they finally got some points on the board.
TRAIN WRECK!
-BN

SMCC 47 Huron 3 The train is rolling!! Gearing up for a state title run!!
