Thoughts and Questions

It looks like the pollsters like SMCC and Airport this upcoming season.

Both teams have a lot to replace

What teams will surprise this season?

Can Milan survive life after Steve Robb?

Will Huron continue their success?

Can FR turn things around?

Will Jefferson stop underachieving?

Is Jeff Stergalas in the hot seat yet?

Will Kish touch the ball every play for GI this season?

  1. You do not need great players to make the straight T work. They will go 220 across the front line with some fast backs. I see CC finishing in the race for the league title.

  2. The O line, backfield, and QB are all gone this year. What is CC getting excited about? You can't predict a seasons outcome based on last years JV team. Got any good CYO players coming up?

  3. This is going to be a long season for the GOLDEN heads this year, and they know it. Keep your tradition alive, I'm becoming very fond of it!

  4. Everybody is on here yapping about who's going win the league, and who's going to do this or that. But the fact is……you don't know, and won't know until it's all over. Sit back and enjoy the season. No need for your 2 cents. Just more hot air, melting the polar ice caps!

  5. I'll start with CC. CC is a dam* good football team. I do see them making the playoffs, but I do not see them dominating the league as always. Look for a 6-3, 7-2 ball team from CC.

The team that will suprise me most this season?

FLAT ROCK(5-4) I know I sound crazy, but it's now where but up from their 0-9 season. The league is losing a lot this year and I can see the experienced juniors dominating. Look for FR in the playoffs for the first time in 21 years.

Grosse Ile(6-3) Rob White will win another OPOY. He is the best quarterback in the league beside Airports Potcova. Look for the devils in the playoffs

  6. i can honestly say flat rock can have a winning season this year ya they went 0-9 that was with a very young team and they were screwed outta 2 games. Coach p got some hard workin kids up in that weight room and they are not gonna be last in the league.

  7. Stergalis is no where near the hot seat. He had the same job as Hoke does at Michigan. 1st: Bring back the tradition that was once Riverview football. 2nd: Get back on the top of the league. Next season will be the first year that ALL of the kids on varsity are his. There are no more kids that played the "old" offense. He is moving in the right direction. The 15 yard penalties are gone. The man is doing a great job.

  8. all i have to say is everyone better try their hardest this season and not hold anything back. my football days have just ended, and its a horrible feeling knowing i will never have them back. make the most of it

  9. I am a CC slappy but let's not fool ourselves. CC will be out of thier league vs Plymouth. I see a 42-14 score. Plymouth is the real deal and a real possiblity to head back to Ford Field. We are talking 2000 students vs 400. If CC can hang withing 2 td's that will be a major accomplishment. Again I applaude CC for taking the game though. They are not afraid and they know this will only help them come playoff time.

  10. Cc won't get beat down by Plymouth like everyone keeps saying. The coaching staff will do an excellent job, like always, preparing them through out two a days to get the job done. And the kids are all up to the challenge.

  11. Huron was a nice story last year, but let's not get crazy. They lost way too much to be talking about a leagure title.

  12. Plymouth will most likely beat cc but you have to admire the play anyone anywhere attitude. The huron league will seem like a joke just like last year after the opener.

  13. I can hopefully say that huron will continue the success that they had this year.. the coach finally has turned the corner and watch for them to make a run at there first ever huron league title!

  14. In response to 6:42, Airport's depth is just fine, they return the most starters in the league and bring up a 9-0 jv team. As far as GI being the suprise if the D gets turned around, i would agree although i wouldnt hold my breath. Bodner cares as much about defense as Rich Rodriguez.

  15. Riverview players love and respect Coach Stergalas, we all feel he knows exactly what we need to do to win. Sole responsibility for past let downs have been on our (the player's) shoulders

  16. Airport has much less to replace than CC. Yes they lost Mays, Kitts, and a few others, but overall the senior class was not that strong. CC has to replace nearly every starter on both sides.

  17. Kish and White will be a dynamic duo this year for Grosse Ile. As long as GI can play some defense, the recievers can catch the ball, and the line steps up GI will have a good year…

  18. The pollsters like SMCC and Airport this upcoming season but the loss of Seniors from both teams will remove a bit of depth from SMCC and same goes to Airport esp. with losing Mays. Both teams will be beatable this year.

The surprise this season will be GI if they get their D turned around. They can score with the best and with a solid D they will make the playoffs. Maybe Huron will also suprise but see my answer about them below.

Milan will survive life after Steve Robb but will have a down two years even if a assistant takes his place.

Huron continue their success? Well that is one of those questions that is hard to answer. What really made Huron go that far? can they replace the Seniors that have moved on? Maybe the same problems as SMCC and Airport this year. The will not be as proflic scoring as last year for sure.

FR can turn things around since everyone will be a year older. Look for Blosser to have a outstanding season and a break out year…. They still may be a year away from getting out of the basement.

    Will Jefferson stop underachieving?
    The easy answer is Nope

Jeff Stergalas is in the warm seat now. This year the heat will be turned up. Talking to some of the players they do not like playing for him. You may not like your coach but you better respect him and that will need to be worked on this year if they want to win games.

Will Kish touch the ball every play for GI this season? Kish/White combo will put up the points. Even whith a shortend season as a Junior he was a threat every time he touched the ball. If he is healthy watch out. Heard he just beat Mays in track this year so his speed is up with the best. With the O combo that GI still has even with losing Cameron and several from a good O line watch for Kish moving into different positions to rack up the yards and points when he does get his hands on the ball.

  19. The key for smcc is how do they replace there o line. That line was spectacular in opening holes for their backs which made the backs jobs real easy.
