Rams rebound to finish 5th in Huron League

Flat Rock would love to forget a school worse 0-9 season in 2010 and with 17 returning letter winners there is hope for a turnaround in 2011. Coach Joe Pruchniki is coming off summer knee replacement and is more than ready to get the season going.

Offensively, the Rams return many of their key players. Mike Chickeral is back at QB and so is his favorite receiver David Minckeweicz. Running back Mike Blosser returns after rushing for over 600 yards last season while senior Ken Kamin adds some much needed speed to the Ram offense.

If the Rams are to change their fortunes this season they will have to be better defensively. Junior LB Colin Knoch is one reason why the Rams should improve. Knoch averaged 6.5 tackles a game last season. The Rams also appear to be much more physical upfront with defensive linemen Merle Newell, Jon Odell and Scott Moy.

Once again the Rams will open the season with the Ida Bluestreaks. Ida has won 5 in a row in the series and beat the Rams in OT last season on a 2 point conversion.

  1. Chris, I think that's a little wishful thinking from a Flat Rock alumni. They better be in shape. Every other team has plenty of players to rotate in and keep key players fresh. I think 4th quarter fatigue will be their downfall and teams will just run away from them.

  2. Flat Rock needs to worry about Ida first.
They have most of their team returning, but returning from an 0-9 season that involved running clocks on most nights does not mean anything.
FR has everything to prove this year. They should be better, but I am not sure if better equates into a better record.
    We will see this Friday.

  3. Flat Rock goes to Milan in week 5 I believe. That would be a good mid season win and help the Rams' confidence the rest of the way.

  4. Chris, you must be thinking about basketball. This will only be the 3rd meeting with Ida for football, 07/08 was Riverview GR and 08/09 was Hillsdale.

  5. Do the Rams go to Milan? If they do, do you think they can go in there and get a win? Milan will be bad this year but that would still be a pretty good win for FR.

  6. RE: "Its pronounced Dockter"

I do believe Dockter and Doctor are pronounced the same exact way. Maybe you mean its spelled Dockter?

  7. No one is mentioning maybe their best football player on the team. He was on the JV last year and is now a strapping 6'3" 220 pound 2 way player. He is the one I am going to watch. The Doctor is in!
