  1. SITOFN,
I don't know about CC being 1st. I had the chance to talk with a CC parent a few weeeks ago, we talked about the league and the direction we think it might be going. CC graduated ALOT of its talent last year, although its had backup talent coming from JV, I'm still anxious to watch this first game friday with Huron and CC. As long as Kalby does his homework and works the Defense to CC's offense, i think it will be a close game. Huron has a pretty solid backfield on Defense, hopefully they do work friday night.

BTW; Has anyone heard anything about how Old Man Kalby is doing with his new team? Heard the MTV show is giving them kids hype, but nothing to show once on the field?

  2. The waggle had like a 1 for 6 success rate. It develops too slow. It was designed for a highschool qb with a highschool arm. He actually looks better as a 3 or 5 step drop passer.

  3. bedfords offensive line cleary worked harder in the weight room during the offseason. Hopefully friday was a wake up call to the players.

  4. Airport needs to learn how to finish drives. Unacceptable to just keep stalling like that. The waggle can be an effective play, any football play is an effective play if you execute it well.

  5. Attention Air coaching staff – put the Waggle in a lock box – bury it 6 feet down in that corn field to the south of the football field. Let Red run it in Monroe. The rest of the league has your playbook that hasn't changed.

  6. RE:"I have felt all along BN that riverview would be solid this year. I have said so numerous times throughout the offseason so I am by no means a bandwagon jumper. Crestwood isnt much of a test but 34-0 at the half is a pretty good beatdown."

Not too many folks think the view will do much this year(other than the parents of course), including Chris. I see a 6-3 record at worse with 6 home games. Tough test this week at Airport. We will know then what we have in both of those teams

  7. Airport was overmatched but why am I still seeing the same mistakes from last year. Teach you DE's corners to contain the play. Bedford just kept goin back to the well. The 99 yrd. run was the weakest thing I ever saw from a defense. Barber was outcoached again if he is actually in charge?
Play action pass 4th and 1 and your QB is 200+. If your going to waste that talent then copy GI and just let em run.

  8. I have felt all along BN that riverview would be solid this year. I have said so numerous times throughout the offseason so I am by no means a bandwagon jumper. Crestwood isnt much of a test but 34-0 at the half is a pretty good beatdown.

  9. KC…I think you got it. Air has alot to get through in the HL and I still say a down year. CC, a different story and I still stand by my 1st place prediction.

Don't forget about GI though…. seems as though Bloggers are having short term memory loss about Onsted. GI would be fortunate to beat them last I checked from the pundits.

Question: What would people have said if Air or CC would have played them???

I think they both would have done well after the fact, but what would have people said PRIOR??

Perhaps GI is to be rekoned with after all.

  10. I give the league credit where credit is due. CC has an excuse, the school they had to play was a solid team with size, speed, and power greater than the huron league will possibly ever see.. I'm sure the league will be a better match for CC instead of Plymouth. Airport though, put up a better fight last year to Bedford, but maybe that Could be due to the fact they had Mays, and lost some talent last year… Oh well. League starts friday and then thats when the hype can begin and we can see where the league will go. =]

  11. I was at the milan game and it seems like they have lost their luster as a program. What happened to the smashmouth style milan used to play. When they ran the ball up the gut they sustained drives. When they tried to get fancy it costed them.

  12. I've never understood the lets stick a bunch of midgets at defensive tackle philosophy that flat rock has. I remember playing Flat Rock a few years ago and wondering if this was some kind of joke. No offense to the little guys, they play hard but they dont stand much of a chance against a big offensive line. They will get blownup, you should put your big guys (if they have any) on the D-line, and maybe the rams wouldnt get gashed as much.

  13. Airport loses 35-7 and everybody acts like the sky is falling. The two league teams that got waxed this weekend are to two teams that will finish 1 and 2 in the league. Riverview is in the mix as well. I have CC,Airport and Riverview battling it out for first place. Nobody else in the league hangs with them.

  14. Let's not pretend….3 things that cost FR the game 1. Poor officiating, although was very bad (18-3) can never be a good thing, is not a reason to lose by 22. 2. Coach p insistence in playing little quick guys up front is killing us….put the beef up there and let em plug some gaps…3.that play call and resulting fumble late in the first half that allowed ida to tie the game absolutely deflated the entire flat rock side from the players to the crowd….may not sound that bad but it wasn't the sideline after that……rams

  15. "By the sounds of Airports game, they won't show much." While I expected Airport to be more competitive, you gotta realize Bedford would've done that to anybody else in the league KC. EM

  16. Hmmm looks like huron, riverview and GI might change things. By the sounds of airports game, they won't show much. Cc will want revenge but heads will get too big and they'll fail and Milan.. Well new coach has some learning to do..

  17. riverview will be the top dogs this year i belive. their running game is strong and i dont see then slowing down anytime soon.

  18. first 7 plays of the flat rock ida game where penaltys out of the first 7, 5 where on flat rock they where backed up to there own 3. drove the feild all the way to the 7 and missed a feild goal. i counted 14 penaltys with about 3 to go in the game when i left. Offense was ok in the first half but had no emotion at all in the second. when ur tied at 14 a peice in the first half u think its gonna be a good game. smh

  19. Barber must not know what a goaline offense is. Bring in some TE's and run smashmouth football. Or a QB sneak since the kid is huge!

  20. View had several backs that carried the ball. Only 265 yards of offense most in the first half. The starting tail back #22 had 90 yards and a couple of scores in the first half. #2 also had a great game with a couple scores. #21 showed a little speed. The guards are quick.

It is tough to team with a running clock all but 3 minutes of the second half.

This reminded me of an old Lessner team. Run the ball and pass if you need to. I was impressed last night. It was the opener that the Bucs needed. Good job last night.

  21. Yes SITOFN you did predict a down year for Airport. However outside of Plymouth, Bedford is the best team anyone from our league will play this year.

  22. If nothing else, Airport should be extra motivated for Riverview this week. After last night along with the pounding from Riverview last year. EM

  23. There is two different teams there how can you compare last season and this season and say 1-5? If nobody left I would say fine but thats like saying Grosse Ile is 3-3 in there last six games it just doesnt tell you how good they are.

  24. Airport and Bedford could have been quite a ways closer.

Three drives stopped within the 10. Jones and Schumake will handle the rock very good this year, but the Defense (primarily the Linebackers) need to step up. I don't know if this was because of a Big Offensive line of bedford or what but they can't give up 35 in game one. I was surprised I didn't see option all night.

Rest of the season looks good though and SMCC should be a solid game.

  25. Yea those were the worse refs I have ever seen…..some penalties were deserved of course but 18-3 give me a break…..another issue is the d line….we just need to improve…..rams

  26. Jim Cantore from the weather channel just confirmed that Irene is nuthin' compared to the storm brewing on GI. Take cover now and start boarding up the windows boys.

Before everyone starts to 2nd guess Onsted….please be advised that this BLOG (and other media) had UNIVERSAL agreement that it would take an exceptional effort to win and that Onsted quite possibly may be the toughest game of the year (san SMCC).

    Can you say goose egg!!

GI ground game will impress all year….no need to pass for now, but that won't last long. GI D is not there yet but hard to get much better than tonite.

Whooaaa, View and Huron seem to be dealing with gravity well.

Jeff looks to be in good shape.

Air, FR and Milan need work. I picked a down year for Air, but am a little surprised by Milan. FR will be better but not a good start.

    SITOFN

  27. 185 yrds in penalties. either that's a huge item to discuss and probably alot of running for the FR boys. Or the refs were horrible. Any insight?

  28. Flat Rock didn't have a chance in Monroe county. They played out of the leage and in monroe county, the deck is stacked against them. The offense didn't do too bad but the refs kept knocking them down. Before anyone calls sour grapes, history over the past years has proven me correct. There are tapes to prove it. The other factor in the loss was Coach P's poor judgement of a starting defensive line. Let the small guys develop before you throw them on the d line, that and gain maybe 50 lbs. Coach P always has his favorites who usually get their doors blown off but still play in game. Those were two key factors for the loss. There is hope though, Flat Rock has only one more away game in Monroe county this season and the tapes will show who was on their back more then their feet.

  29. View might just be the team I thought they would be.

    Nice win for Jefferson.

I think I mentioned Ida would be good this year.

    GI very impressive.

    Airport will be fine.

    Huron got the job done.

Milan is what I thought they were.

  30. Huron's defense looked pretty good. I don't know if they were that good or Erie-Mason is that bad. Linebacker Zajac was knocking heads off. QB Crespi ran for over 100 with 3 TDs. Next week will be a much better "test" with SMCC.

  31. GI threw the ball three times for one completion… They just stuffed the ball down the middle with White, Kish, and Nellenbach

  32. Just my thoughts on the Airport game. I noticed two main things 1. O and D lines got handled by some pretty big Bedford boys 2. Coaching. It looks like Schumake and Jones are very good at RB and Potcova can sling the ball. Only problem is he never gets the chance. Barber will call a 32/33 trap on every down even 3rd and longs. Start letting the kid throw. Other than that 2 goal line stands inside the 5 killed them. Still think they should be pretty good in the league.

  33. I'm kinda surprised GI got a goose egg. Onsted really that bad on Offense, I'm not ripping on GI, just surprised that they pitched a shutout considering how bad there defense was last year.

  34. Onsted was big and very slow. They couldn't get to the edge on GI's speed and just couldn't find any room up the middle. GI played a great game. I don't think White completed more than 5 passes all night and none were for major yards. White (especially) and Kish ran for big yards.

  35. Airport was just physically dominated upfront. Key sequence: game tied at 7 late in ist half Airport got stuffed on 4&2 at the 3. Bedford then went the length of the field and made it 14-7 with 19 seconds left in 1st half. Bedford just controlled 2nd half. EM
