Why did SMCC play Plymouth?
Jefferson surprised me by putting up 41 points.
Is Flat Rock in trouble?
Was I wrong about Riverview?
Was I right about Grosse Ile?
Huron should have dropped 40 something on Mason.
Is Bedford that good or is Airport going to struggle?
I think Milan may go through some 1st year head coach growing pains.
Is the league down this year?
What game should I go see and why?
Hey SITOFN, I have a lot of respect for such a loyal fan. It was all in fun my friend, all in fun.
Craig M….and to think I thought we were goodfella bloggers that have good football sense and opinion….that one hurt a little.
It's OK…big shoulders here.
Will you retract it if GI plays 10 or more games this year??
SITOFN
"(The 1969 titles doesnt count because they didnt play in a title game, I dont believe in phony declarations)"
This is the silliest comment that I have ever read on here. And I read all of SITOFN's post about the winds of change. It is like saying that "I do not beleive in the planet Mars because I have never been there". It is how it was done. SMCC was the state champion in 1969 and Riverview was the state champ in 1968. So do you not beleive that there has ever been an NCAA div I national champion? There is no playoff so how can you beleive that there has ever beed a national champ? And whether you beleive in it or not, it was how state championships were awareded. SMCC has 2, Flat Rock, Jefferson and Riverview have 1. It is FACT, SMCC was state champ in 1969. And for the record: I do not beleive in spiders so they cannot bite me.
Just plain silly.
The mighty falcons have won the same amount of titles as Jefferson and Flat Rock. They are definetly head and shoulders better.
(The 1969 titles doesnt count because they didnt play in a title game, I dont believe in phony declarations)
SMCC always plays a tough opponent to begin the season, I believe it is a good idea.
Jefferson was a surprise to me as well and I think they will go into Milan and come away with a victory.
FR was in trouble before the season even started. I hate to say it but it will once again be a long year in the Rock in which they might be able to pull of 1 win in the league which would be against Milan.
Yes, you were wrong about Riverview. Picking them to finish 7th in the league was dead wrong. They will definitely finish in the top 4 this year in the league.
Yes, you were right about Grosse Ile. Grosse Ile will be one of the top dogs of the league this year as well.
Huron should have dropped 40 something on Mason if they were a really good team. However, Huron will be mediocre at best this season.
I believe it is a little bit of both. Bedford is a really really good team and Airport is a little bit down this year. However, I think they can still finish in the top 4 in the league.
Milan is definitely going to go through growing pains this year and will finish in the basement of the huron league.
Who knows if the league is down this year? We won't know that for another 9 weeks.
You should go see the Riverview/Airport game for sure. I feel that no one truly knows where the both of these teams stand right now. Come Friday night we will see which of these teams are a contender or a pretender. (I'm thinking both are contenders).
Watched the Flat Rock video of the Ida game. They are a couple of years out to move on up. You may want to blame the refs for calling so many. The truth being told they could of called more.
I never read this garbage but i notice its same thing every year. everyone is mad at smcc cause they win all the time. call it cockiness or whatever you want. best team and program today and in history of the league.
CC vs Plymouth = big check for CC. There was some serious money traded for that game. Thats why they were there. CC does try and play up their 1st game every year but not D-1. Money was the motoviator in that scheme.
Jefferson did score some points but Tecumseh was terrible and I read they took a ton of penalities. Jefferson does have a very athletic QB. We will see what this week brings.
Not to sure about some calls that come from Flat Rock.
Still out on the View. Crestwood is terrible. This week will be a more true test as to where they are at.
Grosse Ile will have their normal D back this week and the winds will die down dramactially.
Huron should handle Mason fairly easy. Again we will see what they have this week.
Bedford is down from last year buit still a good team. From some people I talked to say Airport didn't look good at all.
I would attend the Huron/ CC game. I believe the Cheifs are gonna send the Falcons home crying in their cherrios.
Anyone in the huron league can beat crestwood!
I would go see View/Airport. After the beating Riverview put on AP last year I am sure that the Jets are going to be out for paybacks. The question is: Can Stergalis have his team as pumped for Airport as he did last year?
Why does SMCC play Windsor Assumption? Is that to prove a point also? Come on……
RE:"How come whenever someone says something bad about SMCC they automatically think that person is from airport. Could be jefferson people talking trash. But who cares the fact that SMCC always cries about airport being bullies means that they fear the jets."
If you read the part about SMCC he mistakenly substituted Airport for Plymouth.
If you read the part about Airport, he was more knowlegable about that team than any other and only had good things to say.
In my mind he is an Airport grad and fan. no doubt about it.
If i thought he was from Jefferson, I would call him out as well.

Why did SMCC play Plymouth?
Not too many small schools that will play them round here. So they are "stuck" playing schools much larger than them such as Plymouth, Crockett, Bedford, Divine Child and teams from other countries. Maybe the paycheck was a reason as well but I have no idea.
42 points for the Wing T is nice, bears might not be a pushover as Chris thinks.
Flat Rock will be 0-5, trouble?.. . I say YES!
Were you wrong about Riverview? Of course you were.. but you wouldnt listen sooooo thats on you.
Grosse Ile was impressive score wise. The LCAA is down this year bigtime. Dundee and Hudson are the front runners. Onsted may have been bad or maybe GI is just that good. We shall see in wk 3.
Huron is a true wildcard in the league this year. I think they could beat anyone but also they could lose to anyone as well. I think you will see a bit of both throughout the 9 games. They will beat someone they shouldnt and also lose to someone they shouldnt.
I think Airport is just fine. They will make the playoffs and maybe get a 1st round win. I think they are better than last year.
Milan is in BIG trouble. I said that back in April and haven stopped saying it. For some reason people keep saying they are going to be good on here. They are the worst team in the league this year. No doubt in my mind.
League down? nah… its balanced from top to bottom(minus Milan) which may make it look mediocre.
The best game on Friday is Airport/Riverview. We all know where you will be on Thursday.

How come whenever someone says something bad about SMCC they automatically think that person is from airport. Could be jefferson people talking trash. But who cares the fact that SMCC always cries about airport being bullies means that they fear the jets.
When I played at Airport we would run the 5-3 sometimes agaisnt the option. It looked like they had two stand up end. Clearly this didnt help since they tossed/optioned to the outside all night.
Jefferson with a one game fluke. Don't think so. They are young but more solid than many of you think. See a win over Milan in a close game as Milan will play better than in their opener.
RE:"SMCC played airport because they saw dollars signs, they also played SMCC because they are big headed, egotistical and thought they had a chance, fortunately they got there reality check"
Errrr huh? No doubt this knuckle head is a jet and most likely between the ages of 17-22
-bn
I went to airport vs bedford game and noticed that airport is running a 3-5 or 5-3. When did they switch to that defense or was that just for Bedford?
Huron put up 21 in the first half, they tried to get some other guys in there the second half when the victory was sealed. They could have put up 40 easily.
SMCC will be fine, dust of the lumps and go on a roll.
Jeff bubble to burst?
FR…I'm still thinking upside
View…I may have to rethink, coach S making a mark now??
GI…we'll see if the Dee remains the key, so far so good
Huron…gravity takes over once the apple breaks free
Air…coulda, woulda, shoulda… I'm still thinking down year
Milan…perhaps 1st year blues are in order, again a rethink??
League games this week…can't wait to see who brings it!!!
SITOFN
I agree. Go to SMCC/Huron on Thursday and Airport/Riverview on Friday.
SMCC played airport because they saw dollars signs, they also played SMCC because they are big headed, egotistical and thought they had a chance, fortunately they got there reality check
You shouldnt be too surprised, Tecumseh has a pretty bad team but if I'm not mistaken Jefferson had some prety good jv teams the last couple of years so maybe it will translate into some success
Flat Rock is in big trouble because Ida is notoriously an underachieving mediocre team, long year for the rams.
Yes you were, you thought they were gonna be good the last two years but what you dont understand is that rebuilding teams that have been awful the last few years takes at least 2-3 years. Riverview will be good this year, there head coach has a great track record. They have a three year starter at right tackle and the martin twins are pretty good at center and guard. Riverview looks to be back
It is too early to feel wrong about grosse ile. I dont know what to think of the red devils becaues onsted is a pretty good lcaa team but than again the lcaa is very weak. The goosegg was pretty impressive, if they can keep huron league teams off the board than they should do ok. Especially with there high powered offense which apparently can run the ball pretty well.
Huron shoulda coulda woulda but the fact of the matter is was that this was game #1. And you usually see sloppy play the first week. So if they had some hiccups on offense than that shouldnt come as a surprise. We will see how they do against SMCC and we will have a better idea
Bedford in my opinion was that good. The new quarterback Bedford has was pretty solid (Ron Montri was pretty nostalgic for kujawa in the paper) and bedfords oline was very good. Airport will be fine this year. Justin Jones is a good back and potcova is a good qb. Airport will be fine but they have to finish drives alot better. Bedford was a much better team than anyone in the league faced (Besides plymouth)
Milan will go through coaching change but since I didnt see Milan play that leads to the question. Did Milan change there offense? Because if they didnt change there offense than there is no reason to struggle that bad on offense. Talent shouldnt be a problem at milan because of the influx of ypsi transfers. I think milan will have a tough year just because riverview and grosse ile are much better teams, along with the usually good airport and smcc.
I think the league is down but you never know, you will never truly know how good your league is until playoff time.
Next week If I were you I would check out Airport vs Riverview on Friday, and check out Huron vs SMCC on Thursday.
Why did SMCC play Plymouth?
All schools that played at EMU saturday got a "bonus" check.
No one wanted to play Plymouth, so Plymouth offered there "bonus" to CC so they had a reason to play them. They doubled there money, so to speak.
Jack Giarmo is a great football coach, but he's also pretty good at finance as well!
My guess is SMCC played Plymouth because they couldn't find anyone else for week 1. I think Riverview will be better than some are thinking.
Why did SMCC play Plymouth? To prove a point to the rest of the teams in the league.
Jefferson surprised me by putting up 41 points….. That was a one game fluke
Is Flat Rock in trouble? Yep, I doubt that they will pull one off at Grosse Ile.
Was I wrong about Riverview? Still I am not not convinced that they are in the top tier yet.
Was I right about Grosse Ile? The D suprised me, but the Offense will put up the points at will.
Huron should have dropped 40 something on Mason. True, They will not do well this week against SMCC
Is Bedford that good or is Airport going to struggle? One word, Struggle
I think Milan may go through some 1st year head coach growing pains. At least one year of pain, probably 2 or 3.
Is the league down this year? Dont we say that every year?
What game should I go see and why?
Flat Rock GI to see the GI scoring machine at work.
