The Carlson Marauders will look to have another strong year and qualify for the playoffs for the 6th consecutive season after tying for the Downriver Championship and having one of the finest seasons (9-2) in program history. Former assistant coach Jason Gendron takes over the program in 2022 and has plenty of talent returning in his first season as the head coach.
Head Coach: Jason Gendron (1st Year)
Assistants: Dan Kalbfleisch, Drew Sweany, Ryan Buttson, Dale Midkiff, Austin Damron, Jim Kalbfleisch, Bob Rowe, Tim Simons Sr
Returning Letter winners: 20
Offense: (Returning Starters 6) The Marauder offense averaged an impressive 32 ppg last season and boast some solid returners on offense that should make sure the offense continues to put up points. Senior TE Ben Pryztula will command a lot of attention from Carlson opponents this season along with senior H-back Timmy Simons. Senior Eddie Light returns at QB and should supply some solid leadership from that position while Evan Bredow and Matt Hall will anchor the offensive line.
Defense: (Returning Starters 6) Defensively Carlson gave up just 16 ppg and the Marauders should be pretty stingy again with Pryztula leading the way at DE. Helping on the defensive line will be Raphael Arauj while Simons and Bredow will play linebacker. The defensive secondary will be led by senior Brandon Scheffler.
Coach’s Outlook: According to Gendron, Allen Park and Woodhaven are teams to look out for in the Downriver League. Both programs are very well coached and have winning traditions. Gendron added, Our staff and players are highly motivated to build off of last year’s successful season.
FNV Outlook: Expect the Marauders to be in the thick of the Downriver race again this season. Even with a first-year head coach, the staff has remained intact and there is enough talent returning that warrants Carlson as one of the teams to beat in the league.
