Varsity Athletic Players of the week

Logan Murphy, RB, Whiteford: There’s an adage that big time
players make big time plays, and Murphy did just that in a 48-6 rout of
Clinton. The senior rushed for a career-high 234 yards and three touchdowns,
which not only helped the Bobcats clinch a share of the Tri-County Conference
Championship, but also made Murphy the Bobcats’ all-time leading rusher. He
currently sits at 3,534 career rush yards, and will continue to add to that
total.
Bradyn Clark-Gilmore, WR, Whiteford: Murphy wasn’t the only
Bobcat with a huge night in the win over Clinton. Clark-Gilmore hauled in three
passes for 132 yards and two scores to become Whiteford’s all-time leader in
receiving yards. The senior sits at 1,186 yards for his career.

Tristen Hines, WR/RB, Milan: Hines was the answer for the
Big Reds, as they held off a feisty Airport team 35-30. The junior accounted
for all five of Milan’s touchdowns, as he rushed for 212 yards and four
touchdowns, and caught two passes for 15 yards and a score. Milan punched their
ticket to the playoffs for the fourth consecutive season, and tenth time in the
last 12 years.
Jake Weilnau, RB, Ida: After having their ground attack shut
down in a loss to Hillsdale, the Blue Streaks got the run game firing on all
cylinders. Weilnau led the way with 193 yards and two touchdowns as Ida
defeated Onsted 43-18 to punch their ticket to the playoffs for the sixth
consecutive season.
Luke Harwood, RB, Grosse Ile: After struggling in the first
half against Riverview, the Red Devils awoke in the second half. Harwood rang
up 140 rushing yards and two scores, including the go-ahead touchdown with 3:13
left to give Grosse Ile a 21-14 win over the Pirates, as well as the outright
Huron League Championship and the Colvin Cup. In addition, the Devils are 8-0
for the first time since 1965.

  1. Luke Harwood is a fearless beast. That kid deserves to play somewhere in college. You can't teach that kind of talent and speed.
