FNV 2024 Overall Player of the Year

Drew Harris from SMCC has been named the Friday Night Victors 2024 Overall Player of the Year after leading the Falcons to a 13-1 record, a Huron League Championship and a State Runner-Up finish.

The senior RB ran for 1,433 yards on just 154 carries while averaging 9.31 yards per carry. He rushed for 21 TD’s which included an 89-yard scamper. He also has 3 TD receptions and zero fumbles on the season.

Harris also excelled as a kicker, scoring 63 out of 68 extra points and being 3 out of 3 on field goals. He scored 216 points this season.

Coach Kipf on Harris: Drew is a versatile football player for us. His role was primarily as a running back this season.  He excelled at it. The other impressive part of Drew’s game is his kicking ability.  He could kick at the next level. He had to endure several injuries over the course of his time at SMCC.  I am proud of him and how he persevered through it all.  He had a great off-season getting prepared for this year.  It is a credit to his work ethic and determination to have a great senior year. He is also a very humble kid.  He won’t ever talk about his success but is quick to give credit to his teammates!  I love Drew and am forever grateful that I had the opportunity to coach him!

FNV on Harris: Harris had a great season and was the Falcon’s go-to-guy in the backfield this season. In a style of offense that relies on multiple ball carriers; Harris carried the ball 33% of the time and scored over 40% of the teams rushing TD’s. He was a guy who could catch the ball out of the backfield and could grind out the tough yards when needed while being a threat to score on every play.

  • I was able to attend a high school football game every week during the regular season and all but 1 week during the playoffs. Drew Harris was the best high school football player I saw during the last 15 weeks.

What impressed me about Mr. Harris was how reliable he was on special teams on top of being the most explosive player on the field from the tailback position. I was left shaking my head watching Harris rip off a 70 yard run, then kick the extra point, then go on kickoff team and make the coverage tackle for the Falcons. A real throwback!~~!

I honestly expected the Falcons to have more than two players on All State but nonetheless I salute Mr. Harris and Mr. Hines on their recognition. Best of luck to Harris wherever he decides to play next fall.

    • Great career Drew.
It's been fun watching you play football all these years. We're gonna miss you next season..
