Week 6 Player of the Week Candidates

By Frank Vajcner

Each week, I will go through the box scores of all of our teams and pick four players whom I will turn to you, the people, to determine our Player of the Week. Go over to our Twitter/X page to vote: @FNVictors

Since the three of us are busy on Friday, we may not be able to get all standout performances. If you have a nomination, hit me up on Twitter/X.

Without further ado…

Hayden Noland, RB/PR, Summerfield: This week was Noland’s turn to shine, as he rushed for 174 yards and two scores, plus returned a punt for a touchdown in the Bulldogs’ 48-7 win over Pioneer North Central.

Luke Beaudrie, QB, Jefferson: The sophomore QB did everything seemingly for Jefferson in a 28-7 win over Grosse Ile. Beaudrie went 16-for-21 for 206 passing yards and a score, and also rushed for 177 yards and three scores.

Dillon Byrd, QB, Airport: Byrd was the word in Carleton as the Jets defeated Huron 28-12. The signal caller passed for 186 yards and two touchdowns, and also ran for 64 yards and a score.

SMCC Falcon Defense/Special Teams: There are times where you have to give a whole unit a nomination, and sometimes two units. The Falcon defense turned in a masterful performance in a 34-15 win over Riverview, as they held the Pirates to their lowest total scoring since 2019 while recovering three fumbles. The special teams unit returned not one, but two kickoffs for touchdowns.

Honorable Mention: Gavin Albring, RB, Ida; Graham Junge, QB, Flat Rock; Joey Brink, RB, Dundee; Evan Szalay, WR, Flat Rock; Grady Brooks, QB, Monroe; Trenton Eitniear, RB, Whiteford; Brady Hines, RB/LB, SMCC

  • I think Gary wants FR to run the ball to have a repeat of clock control game like last year.

Running the ball 1st two possessions last year proved to play directly into CC game plan.

Once FR got behind CC ran a great clock management game.

    Let’s have a shoot out!

  • Gary can we get confirmation that it was the same person talking to him self as different names

  • Haha I’ve never seen a whole defense nominated before…. But I gotta say holding the view to 15, golly. Haven’t seen that in well... years. Is this smcc defense special? Or is riverview just weak idk you tell me. I’ve missed every cc game

    • Riverview turned the ball over 3 times, thats the story. Lets see what the Falcons defense can do against an offense putting up the numbers Flat Rock does consistently.

      • Turning the ball over or not turning the ball over is part of the game. If you want to use that as reason CC won then all good. That’s football and teams win games like that from the NFL all the way down to 3rd grade football since the beginning of the sport. Why do you think it’s such a valuable statistic? Answer: because it matters.

New game new team. Never a sure thing in the sport of football.

      • Yes Riverview turned the ball over 3 times but they had chances to score. The Falcons stopped them twice in the red zone. I don’t know how many defenses can do that. The CC defense is legit

      • Good point. I would suggest, let's see what the Ram offense can do against a team giving up 6.17 ppg. Lets take it further, the Rams are only averaging 16 ppg against the Falcons the last 2 years and a whopping 8.8 ppg over the last 5 years. Now trust me when I say, I want my alma mater to beat Gary's alma mater, but if I was a betting man, a Falcon's win is the best play. Hope I'm wrong.

        • WELL I AM A BETTING MAN!!!!

AND ILL PUT MY MONEY ON FLAT ROCKS WINS BIGGGGG FRIDAY NIGHT!

ILL COVER AS MUCH OR AS LITTLE ANYONE WANTS TO PUT ON IT

          ITS FLAT ROCKS TIME!

        • I’m no betting man but if I was I’d say falcons defense yet again makes ANOTHER statement and holds the rams to…. Hear me out 0
