  • Got to say proud of the boys down at CC. Polls from HL coaches had them predicted to place 6th in the huron league prior to the season. Not gonna crown them HL champs just yet but it’s hard seeing the Bears come to navarre field and take down the HOT CC Falcons. CC had a rough 2 year stretch but it feels good to see them in their usual form. As for FR they made many mistakes that the Falcons capitalized off of. They need to have a great 2 week stretch to get ready for playoffs. Always rooting for HL teams in the playoffs

  • If I had to say anything about the game in Monroe last night is. Yes they are physical. Yes flat rock is pretty beat up after that game for sure. Yes Monroe was a great football team. No Graham didn’t play his best game. No flat rock doesn’t walk out of that game with a win if they don’t turn the ball over just makes the score look a lot better for them. Hat off to the birds

    • It was a good hard hitting game. I really pull for all HL teams to do well in playoffs. The more league success in the playoffs the better we all are.

      • I am sure the 3 that are fs in will make a great run. This Monroe team I bet we will see at ford field

  • When they didn't have enough players to field a freshman team is where it all started. The past two years with no JV teams. Decreased participation, school of choice, and coach turnover has hurt the program. They have had at least 4 different coaches during the past 10 years. They took on a huge challenge with the lack of upper classmen and players in general (only about 25 players in the entire high school). Plenty of kids during the past 10 years have had to play both ways because like stated earlier half of that team would get hurt and shouldn't have to play against upper classmen. Moving in the right direction, great young men but the card's are stacked against them. They are one injury away from disaster and no team should be in that position. Concerned about what happens after 2026 and QB1 graduates. To many eggs in one basket but everyone understands why. Go Bears!!!

    • If lack of numbers is the main reason for your problems, what doesn't the AD or someone above the coach insist on getting everyone involved on the team as much as possible. This is obviously a rebuilding time for the football program and wins are not at the top of the list right now, growing the program is #1. I was at the last game and many parents are complaining about this. If kids don't play, they will not return next year. There is zero reason the starting QB and many others should still be in the game when it is out of reach.

  • CC, Riverview, and Flat Rock all have elite offensives.. only CC has an elite D and this is why they are outright huron league champs.

Congrats to SMCC… a few down years but they were building towards something special. Good luck!

    • Not outright yet, still have to slow down the Bears whose offense is on fire. This has the makings of a classic trap game with a loaded Detroit Country Day team looming in week 9 for SMCC.

  • CC players and coaches are in this together. Lock-step…players are all in on what the coach’s ask of them. Coaches do an incredible job of backing their players. FR and Riverview wins are quality wins. Both those teams are big strong and well coached.
Kids need to stay focused and push forward one week at a time.

  • CC should make the final 4 with ease I’d imagine. Not super familiar with D7, but they must be one of the favorites, if not the favorite to win it all. Well coached and they are hungry. Flint has done a great job with that defense, disciplined and physical like his Riverview squads. Would have liked to have seen CC - Riverview with a healthy Adams, but congrats to CC on the league championship. Well deserved.

    • Hudson is the real deal. That would likely be a regional. Calpreps has Hudson as the favorite in that game. And Menominee the favorite in D7.

      • Ah right.. Hudson. Good call. Is Lumen Christi D7 this year? Side note, do you think FR and Riverview can make deep runs in their respective divisions? Looks like Riverview may not get out of the district sadly. I think I heard someone say they may be dropping back down to D4 next year..?

      • Hudson's biggest win was Ida 16-8 score. Clinton next up.

SMCC’s beat Clinton and their biggest quality wins (beside Clinton) were back to back wins against highly ranked D3 and D5 teams (Riverview, Flat Rock).

It would be a great matchup. Hudson would have to play at Navarre if it happens at all.

      • Gary- I heard Hudson & Clinton had scouts at the game last night. Some overheard them discussing petitioning the MHSAA that SMCC shouldn't host any playoff games at Navarre, due to poor field conditions, and lighting. Can this actually happen?

        • That is absolutely stupid. Navarre field is just fine. There are a lot worse fields than Navarre. I guarantee the MHSAA would never move that game.

          • I'll assume you are referring to Navarre, which I said was fine. Nothing better, nothing worse. Off the top of my head; Taylor, Old Reford, and Detroit Western.

        • Seems perfect conditions for Full House T teams, Clinton and Hudson.

I’d be willing to wager the games will be played at Navarre field through regionals, if SMCC continues to win.

  • just curious when was the last time flat rock beat cc our Riverview our any real deal teams for the matter (besides vs airport 203) Idk why they keep struggling to win the big league games maybe a culture thing

  • Kinda hope that FR FAN . THAT TYPED IN ALL CAPS IN A PREVIOUS POST. Has a wallet as big as his mouth.
    You're gonna need it.

    • Donn,

You are correct. Show me the thread you had the guts to wager pre game and not after I we can meet for a beverage and payment.

That being said. SMCC is the better team and congrats to them.

      • Sorry FR FAN,
My gut tells me your feelings got hurt. Taking that bet would be like taking candy from a baby. Too easy. I'll leave the predictions to the professionals that run this blog. And not run my mouth on a gut feeling. After all DADDYS MONEY needs to be put to good use.

        I shall prey for you.

  • CC is without a doubt the best team in the Huron League..I don’t want to hear excuses from anyone about turnovers…you couldn’t stop CC…
They will be hard to beat in D7, gotta stay hungry…

    • Agree!

Let’s get all of these comments out of the way now:

SMCC hasn’t played anyone tough yet

SMCC ONLY won because Riverview had 3 turnovers and FR had four turnovers

SMCC ONLY won because they recover fumbles

SMCC ONLY won because they recruit

Every week many post all the excuses as to why SMCC wins games. They don’t just win - they have dominated two teams in a row. Maybe it’s just because SMCC is that good, work extremely hard and are disciplined. Give them the respect they deserve!

      GO SMCC!

      • Good teams capitalize on mistakes. Look at the scoreboard. SMCC is not just good, they have their eyes on the prize. All about execution.
