The Riverview Pirates delivered a crushing blow to the visiting Jefferson Bears, securing a resounding 61-0 victory at home. From the onset, Riverview demonstrated its offensive prowess, racing to a 22-0 lead by the end of the first quarter and extending it to 41-0 by halftime.
Quarterback Lucas Thompson set the tone early, connecting with Braylon Orcher on a 67-yard touchdown pass on the Pirates’ first offensive play. Thompson finished the game with a perfect 3-for-3 passing record, accumulating 107 yards and a touchdown, while also rushing for a 16-yard score.
The Pirates’ rushing attack proved unstoppable, with Nathan Pinkava (114 yards, 94-yard TD), Ian Adams (63 yards, 2 TDs), and Jordan Smiechowski (86 yards, 77-yard TD) leading the charge in the first half. Dominic Stuck opened the second half with a 65-yard touchdown sprint, finishing with 79 yards on three carries.
Riverview’s defense was equally impressive, highlighted by Andrew Justice’s blocked punt and Ashton Robinson’s interception, complemented by his seven tackles. Pierre Robinson sealed the victory with an interception to end the game.
Jefferson’s Luke Beaudrie showed resilience, rushing for 76 yards, but it was not enough to stem the tide of Riverview’s onslaught. The Pirates amassed an astonishing 537 yards on just 18 plays, while limiting the Bears to 180 yards.

I did see a few young players on that Jefferson team who could really grow into a factor if they stick with it. The main thing is they all need to keep playing and putting in the work in the off season. It was good to see some of those guys trying right up until the end of the game. I do think a win over GI is realistic.
They should think about just playing JV, I agree also, too late now. Is there really a future for a football program when you only have 28 players in it ? I know all we hear is trust the process and it’s coming trust me !!! Well I don’t trust the process, and I’m sorry it’s not coming…they need to rethink what they are doing…these kids are getting beat up and I’m worried they won’t keep coming out. You have to get more kids in the program PERIOD…recruit the kids to come out, that’s what needs to happen..we NEED numbers, then you can work the process, TRUST ME !!!
Can Jefferson varsity just change over to a JV schedule for the rest of the season and develop their players? Not sure if it’s possible but they’re clearly not able to compete at a varsity level and it may help instill some confidence in the boys… just a thought…
What would this achieve? This mindset is indicative of the exact problem. So instead of playing better competition, learning the fundamentals/scheme, and getting better over the season, you would rather go 9-0 with a JV schedule and not learn how to be tough or handle adversity? Beaudrie would have 400 yards a game trying to be tackled by 14 year olds. It's a systemic problem that is going to need school and community buy in. Trying to fix your problems by ignoring them is not it. I understand the dwindling school size, but this is not new. Jefferson has had more than 5 wins in a season once in the last 20 years. Take your 2 wins this year vs GI and Melvindale and get better for when you are senior "heavy."
Sorry this team would go 6-3 at best on a JV schedule. Let’s be realistic. No disrespect, these kids are in a tough spot. Prayers for better days at the beach for these young players.
So your solution is to keep getting hammered for two years, kids will continue to not come out for football because less talented Freshman and Sophomore’s don’t want to play scout team all the time- they want to get coached up at a level that is beneficial to their development… The real question is why no Seniors stuck with the program? Maybe a parent from Jefferson can answer that question… The Junior Bear program seems to be very productive but then the better players seem to migrate to Carlson. With a good wrestling program and a good feeder system, you’d think you could maintain a JV program AND varsity program… maybe- just maybe- it’s the leadership! You can’t tell me that getting your brains beat out each week makes you tough and able to handle adversity…. Let’s just say you have 2 or 3 kids that can benefit from your idea and 12-15 that can benefit from being developed and coached up at a JV level… this is a once very proud program that has no future under the current path… but hey, in two years you’ll be “Senior heavy” and good luck with that!
Wow, we are really going to defend the idea of abandoning varsity football at your "once proud football program." Seriously? When that happens, you are done. Would the rest of the league actually reinvite you knowing they get no playoff points? Good luck getting kids to sign up to play when they don't have a varsity level, but only a future promise that we will schedule one in a couple years. Also, what happens to any seniors then? Do they play JV? You have enough to play with the larger schools, figure it out internally. Use the 5th quarter rule to the extreme. If you're really this adverse to actually dealing with your problems (you, not the school), go play in another conference if you need to
What happens after the senior "heavy" team is gone?

If this is the process, the program will fall apart...
Than you're left with 14 year olds trying to tackle young men..
