On Military Appreciation Night, the Monroe Trojans paid tribute to their military heroes, hosting Trojan Alumni from the class of ’90, the Monroe Athletic Hall of Fame, and retired Military officer TJ Wrighten as a guest of honor. Despite a hard-fought effort, the Trojans fell to the Ann Arbor Huron River Rats 19-6.
Head Coach Kyle Reed praised his team’s effort, saying, “Kids played hard… They’re doing a lot of learning.” He acknowledged the team’s youth, starting five sophomores, and expressed his love for coaching them. “Overall, I love coaching these kids and love their effort, but we need to focus and improve.”
The Trojans’ offense showed promise, with QB Collin Steele connecting with four different receivers for 97 yards through the air, contributing to the team’s total 167 yards. However, it wasn’t enough to secure a win, leaving the Trojans at 0-2 on the season.
The team will look to regroup and refocus as they travel to face 1-1 Ypsi Lincoln in their next matchup.
