  • Milan 21, SMCC 20

SMCC has one letdown game a year and this is it. Milan runs the ball out of the double wing t and SMCC has never been known to stop it. Classic trap game like Gary said!

    • Gerald with tonight’s, “Posts that Didn’t Age Well.” SMCC doesn’t seem to be having any problems stopping that gimmicky defense.

    • Gutsy pick…… but I like that I like that a lot, but to be honest with ya kid I truthfully disagree I think cc pounds the hammer and cuts the head off fast tonight way too much speed for Milan to handle but hey what do I know 42-6 cc BOOK IT

    • I’m not sure they did it was 24-8 and 33-7 those years with one of those Riverview teams making a state semi maybe 21 but not 22

        • If they got away from that offense, they would win more. The passing league spread is one dismal offense when the team isn't there to execute it.

          • Said that wrong. I can't comment on the current situation. I'm not up to speed. I just know there were a lot of talented players that didn't play in 2021 and 2022.

          • I can't comment on the current situation. I'm not up to speed. I just know there were a lot of talented players that didn't play in 2020 and 2021.

  • No one walks into "the Woods" and walks out with a win.... but who was the last team to do it? What about the second to last team? That's right.... SUMMERFIELD!

  • I’ll say this about Riverview-they run the T/T with a wing to perfection. All of the T doubters out there need to take a close look at Riverview and look at how they run it. They don’t run 4 different plays and abandon the rest of the offense. Here’s a stat I would love to know in this day and age of high school football-Which offense has proven to be more successful/Spread or T?

    • If you look up the top scoring offenses in MHSAA history. Nearly all of them are Full House T.

It best works at the lower levels. I would say D4 and down.
Once you matchup with big boy ball, it tends to peter out.

The list of D1-2-3 T teams that have won a state title is very small.
D4 and below is quite large.

Unity Christian, Edwardsburg and Zeeland West are the biggest schools that have had the most success, state wide.
Riverview will try and add their name to that list this year.

Canton as a D1 school, ran the T for many years. They made it to FF in 2005. They had great success but never won a state title.
Detroit CC also ran a version with amazing success, but they were multiple. They would come out of it when needed. They had the stud athletes.

      • Having been on both sides of this with a player who played in both offenses, I prefer the T and it's not even close. The T is a gift from god for a parent who's seen their player on a team that scored 5 td's in a season with the passing league spread. It's not fun losing every football game. The T would work fine in every division because teams are built to stop the passing league spread. They aren't used to getting blasted on every play. I could write a book, but I'll leave it at that.

      • It makes sense because the bigger schools have more athletes to make the spread work more efficiently. From D4 down it’s hard to replace athletes year after year to run the spread. As far as SMCC goes-I thought it was a bad idea to go from shotgun but I do like what they’re doing now-it seems like it’s working so far. I would personally rather have my QB handing off from under center to hide the ball better instead of handing off 5 yards back from the line of scrimmage. Just my opinion. We’ll see what they do against Riverview-I don’t think there’s any stopping of Riverviews offense so they’ll have to go TD for TD. But maybe SMCC’s defense is that good!

        • Without need, I am quite sure SMCC hasnt shown its full offensive package quite yet.
I dont think anyone has seen the reason they went to this offense just yet.
