Falcons Soar to 3-0 with 49-0 Win Over Red Devils

The St. Mary Catholic Central High School Falcons football team avenged two straight losses to the Grosse Ile Red Devils with a resounding 49-0 victory on Friday night at Wyandotte High School.

After falling to Grosse Ile by narrow margins in the previous two seasons, the Falcons left no doubt this time around. Quarterback Ian Foster led the charge with a touchdown run, while running backs Drew Harris, Eddie Keshen, Lukas Linzell, and Cole Reinhardt each added scores.

The Falcons’ defense was equally impressive, shutting out the Red Devils and allowing them to enter the red zone only once late in the game. Cole Reinhardt’s first-quarter interception sparked the defensive effort, while Brady Hines, Max Flint, and Ben Carter combined for four sacks.

Coach Adam Kipf praised his team’s intensity, saying, “Our kids played well. We had some issues in practice last week with intensity. We called them out on it, and they responded tonight.”

Drew Harris led the Falcons with 127 rushing yards on 10 carries and was 7-for-7 on extra point attempts.

The win moves the Falcons to 3-0 on the season. They’ll look to stay undefeated next Friday at Airport High School, where they’ll face the Jets (0-3) in their homecoming game.

  • Big big blow to the falcons Offense line, they lose powerful Tackle Gieger to a knee injury for the year. This will make a difference to the running game. You just can’t replace the power and size of Gieger. Running game won’t be the same.

    • Feel bad for the senior.
Hopefully he can get back for track season.

Geiger didn't see much time on the O-line after week 1. He was mainly a DT.
He will be missed stopping the run for sure.

Tackles for CC are juniors, Rostash and Clarke. But Geiger is a senior leader. It’s a big loss.

  • what a district this team could end up in, even with Hudson beating Ida could lead into a loaded district. MCC Clinton Hudson Whiteford potentially

    • If Blissfield makes it in, and they should(4-5 for sure; 3-6 solid chance), Hudson would go further west.
Or that pushes SMCC North.. that too would depend on which detroit area teams make it, if any.

  • I must say I was deeply concerned with the offense after watching the Clinton game. But these last 2 games they’ve looked damn good and they have a lot of horses to lean on in that backfield. Harris is quick and shifty then you mix in Brady Hines and Lukas Linzell for power. Ian Foster can run and throw. The passing game looks pretty good-big receivers with Joel Treece and Brock Cousino. Defense looks fast and aggressive. This team is deep! Hopefully they can all stay healthy.
