  • Saline needs to come out of the top 10. They are 2-3 after forfeiting there first 3 games due to a ineligible player

  • Riverview will have something special for Smcc something they haven’t ran yet,( because they haven’t had to) Smcc better be ready and coaches. This is going to be the biggest beat down in school history and you won’t be able to stop it. To weak, to slow. To small.

    • Let me guess, “Jack Sparrow” graduated from Riverview HS a couple of decades ago, might’ve been on the football team but no one remembers him. Now he spends his days hanging out at the nice new cannabis store in town telling people about that one time his team was up by 40 points and the coach put him in on a special teams play and he would’ve scored a TD had it not been for the refs.

My only prediction is it’ll be a fun game between two programs that represent the Huron League well.

      • Jack Sparrow is some troll pretending to be a Riverview fan. Nobody in Riverview is that arrogant this game.

    • I doubt you're even a Pirate fan because I can tell you, none of us feel that way about SMCC. We know they're a good football team and expect a game.

  • Went to see Carlson to see them tested by a 3-1 Southgate team. That was a good football team who are well-coached.
Carlson wasn't tested. they are all they are cracked up to be and more at every level of offense and defense and their kicker is a true legit weapon.
they dismantled a good team without having a D1 running back playing. The kids that replaced him seem almost as good, their QB is dynamic dual-threat and their TE is a D1 prospect, big physical and fast.
they have great wr's on the outside, and their defense is very fast and really want to hit
sounds lilke Wright will be back this week and good luck trying to stop this team at full strength.
looks like a team that could make a run

  • Riverview- big fish in a small pond- Do something outside of the league, you are the biggest school in the league and should dominate . At least get to FF once every 10 years.
I would love Jackson LC and the Pirates square off- tiny school cleaning their clock

    • Already happened bro, in the playoffs and the Pirates won, shut them out. The Pirates are 1-0 versus LC. I wish we'd leave the HL, but it's not up to me. I'm getting tired of the crying already. It would be great to not have to win all nine games just to get a playoff home game.

      • Donn above posted you lost to JLC in 98
You have a very nice team, playing down divisions almost every game

Coach Lesner is looking down, shaking his head in disappointment on the current state of the fan base.

I see posts about semi's finals- final fours, etc... sad no consistent FF appearance..

        • I don't think JLC wouldn't even survive our district in D3 without being beaten by a minimum 3td's, but they would be a top team in the HL, DRC. We've got our own share of stacked teams in this D3 region that would eat them up. We're rolling with D4 numbers this year and next year it's back to D4. Maybe that will help you find peace. It's not as if we're Belleville or Rouge and recruiting the entire metro area talent pool for kids. What we have came through our youth program and that's about it.

          • Pontiac ND ranked #1 in D5
They would beat you as well
It's ok- like you said - in your first post- it's just HS football

          • Just a 4 point loss to Pontiac ND, yeah, sounds like an easy D6 state championship to me. They'd beat all of us this year.

          • I have to jump in here. Calpreps has JLC doing very well in D3.
            As well as goosepoop.
Goose has JLC a 24 point favorite over Riverview, 27 over SMCC and 31 over Flat Rock.
These are nonbiased computer numbers based on just this year.
And his numbers are wildly accurate when you go back and look after the games are played.
Calpreps is currently down, but those numbers were very similar.

I think this is JLC's best team in quite some time, and thats saying something.

        • Wouldn't call myself a Riverview fan. I was informing anonymous of his blatant lies.
Sometimes when you tell a lie or hear a lie enough times. You start to believe it to be true.
I would think Allen Park is their bugaboo. Harrison no longer has a football team.

        • Ok, so 1-1 while playing in the same division, that's just horrible right? You sound like a sore loser and that's too bad you let a kid's sport upset you that much. This is just high school football. There are good fans and bad ones with every team, but the majority are able to be grown ups. Maybe discuss your opinion on your own team and players and what those prospects are. That would be interesting and constructive here and we'd all like to hear about that. Coach Lessner would be extremely happy with this program and these kids for how hard they work and that victory the other night after they suffered the loss of their best player for the rest of the season. I'm amazed they were able to play because they were more worried about their teammate than a football game. The player who caught the late pass, that was the best friend of the player who got hurt and his first move post game was to the hospital. You have no idea how that affected those kids. So much goes into this program by people who care and give their time for free. In D3, the road to a semis in this district runs through some of the best teams in the state regardless of division so a loss there is nothing to be ashamed of. Believe me, Rouge and King are better than LC. The good is it's back to D4 next season and I guess then you can complain about Huron, Airport, and Riverview all together. Maybe you should talk your school into going into a smaller team league if playing D4 schools is too much, not sure what to tell you there. Maybe post a proposed league with all the D5 schools, least that would be interesting.

          • Wow- A lot to digest there
            1 I'm not a FR fan
2 Sorry about the injured player
3 Lessner would not be happy with the program- fans
4 You can't beat the big boys in your division- and JLC would crush you- lack of discipline would be the deciding factor
5 I have proposed a new league system- within 90 miles -schools of the same division within 1. ( div 1-2 then 3-4- then 5-6- then 7-8 ) would play each other. Leagues change every time enrollments are updated. May take away from traditional rivalries, and some Saturday games for travel , but would lead to equality on a week to week basis.
6 Believe this would be better than div 3 schools playing small school, boys hopes built up , parents thinking all is great - then crashing down when they play the big boys

            I hope you find peace

    • Riverview has been to the semi finals quite a few times in recent memory. They unfortunately play stacked River rouge teams and king teams most years than not. What has flat rock exactly done ?

      • False.
Never lost to King in playoffs.
        Lost to..
        River Rouge 23,20
        Goodrich 22 in semis
        Allen Park 21,19,18,15,04
        Harrison 17,semis,89,88,86
        New Boston Huron 12
        Melvindale 13
        Chelsea 11
        South Christian 02 finals
        Lumen Christi 98
        Belding 97 finals
        Country Day 93
        Marysville 92
        Marine City 90

  • Riverview will put a running clock on Smcc. Smcc is weak on Both lines and doesn’t have the speed to be even on the same field. Guys it’s a good D3 team against a good D7 team. Picking against the D3 team is crazy.

    • That's not logical at all. This should be a very good game. Pretty similar teams imo. None of us Pirate fans take SMCC lightly. We know they're very good.

    • Riverview 42, SMCC 26

      IMHO~
I’m sure it will be a great game with two very good teams. Good coaching staffs. This game is everything you like to see in high school football but in the end, Riverview still has too much. Pick your poison with Riverview cause no one has shown the potential to stop them yet.

  • I’m wore out from reading all of the Riverview/Flat Rock banter. Riverview better put that game in the rear view mirror and get ready for SMCC! It’s gonna be another slugfest! We’ll really see if this SMCC offense is a better idea than the T this Friday. If SMCC defense is on the field as much as they were against Clinton it could be a long night…
