Next up in our series is the Monroe Trojans
Reason for Concern: Overall team speed gives us reason for concern in 2024. The South Eastern Conference is full of burners on both sides of the ball. Can the Trojans match that athleticism game in and game out? That being said, Monroe runs the perfect offense to help offset any perceived imbalance of speed and quickness.
Reason for Hope: Defense. I will go out on a limb and say Monroe would love to keep games in the 20’s. The Trojans’ Jax Jones and Tanner Collete, are two of the very best on the defensive side of the ball, this area has to offer. Both are big hitters, causing multiple turnovers in 2023.

Monroe only play 3 teams worth anything (riverview , saline , dexter ). They should have enough wins to make the playoffs sec red is a joke for football
Monroe has a good opportunity to start the season 3-0, which will be crucial for making the playoffs. They beat Jackson 24-6 last year and the Vikings are very inexperienced this year. Same for Huron, and they haven't lost to Lincoln in a while, but barely won each of the last several times. Won those 3 games and Skyline and Pioneer shouldn't be too much of a problem.
I've been hearing good things about the Trojans this summer from those with kids in the program. They have some playmakers and have added some good coaches to the staff. I saw today that their new AD is making an investment in the program by hiring a school strength coach too which is great to see. If you look at the best programs around the state, almost all of them have a dedicated strength coach for their athletics program. I am predicting a 6-3 record and playing for a district title.
Best of luck to Coach Reed and the Trojans this year
Will the defense really be a strength though ? I think they return only two players in addition to those two already mentioned
we returned multiple other players that will be a force on the defensive side of the ball. the trojans future is big there jv team is also filled with studs if kids can stay healthy trojans will have a fantastic year!
It is a hope.
