Monroe Jefferson Bears: Hope & Concern 2024

Reason for Concern – The Bears are limited on upperclassman. Currently, there are zero seniors on the roster. Senior leadership is a term thrown around by coaches each and every year. The young Bears must find a way to replace that void in 2024.

Reason for Hope – Jefferson will have to look to the underclassman to provide leadership, in hopes of having a successful season. Look no further than Gennoe and Beaudrie. Although sophomores, this combination of speed and toughness, will give Bear fans a reason to hold their head high. Beaudrie brings an elevated level of football IQ, to go along with the rugged nature of Gennoe.

  • One thing I noticed last year was that team was basically a JV team playing varsity. They might win 3-4 this year. I felt bad for the qb who really got beat up running the ball too often. He sure is tough.

  • Can’t post this one either. It’s ok to be smartly critical of coaches. But we should be thoughtful as to how we go about it.

  • It takes time to build a program. We are witnessing a true 180 on this whole athletic program. It starts with a good coach like Rob and teaching these kids dedication, passion, and commitment. Print this article for motivation.

  • If you are relying on 2 sophomores for leadership you are not in good shape.. the bears will struggle to win a game this year.. no upperclassmen will be too much to over come.. Coach Beaudrie has his work cut out for him..

    • Take it to the bank. Bears win at least 3. Remember this was a team with 4 SRs and 2 JRs last year. Majority were sophomore/freshman starters. Returning probably 5/7 starters both ways this year. Kids might be young, but have experience. Not to mention beaudrie and Gennoe are two of the best athletes in Huron League, “sophomores” or not.

After this year, be afraid of what’s to come out of Newport.

      • That was a JV team out there last year. Going 2-7 was actually an accomplishment. That group could age well if they stick together and get strong. I predict 2-5 wins for this season. It will all depend on how much stronger they can get at the line of scrimmage. Last year the good teams destroyed them in the trenches. Just average O line and D line could produce 4 wins. It would be nice if the Bears actually returned to being a competitive opponent. Lots of good football history in that school.
