Each year Friday Night Victors chooses a Player of the Year for offense and defense along with an overall Player of the Year. We also have our All Blog teams. Those will all be coming out this week. As always, let’s celebrate those who were chosen and considered for all of the 2023 awards.
Gibraltar Carlson sophomore Izaiah Wright has been named the Friday Night Victors 2023 Offensive Player of the Year. The speedy yet rugged sophomore ran for 1,965 yards and 29 TD’s. He also caught 12 passes for another 144 yards and 2 scores while leading the Marauders to a school record in wins (10-2) and a Downriver League Championship.
Coach’s Comment: “Izaiah did special things for our offense even with opposing defenses keying on him. He had the sophomore season we were hoping for. We are very proud of Izaiah”.
FNV Thoughts: We expect big things from Izaiah over the next few seasons. He reminds this writer of the great Fred Russell who starred at Romulus High School and Iowa before playing in the NFL some two decades ago.
